A few observations from the stats:
- MOTM was Vini by the traditional country mile - with most successful tackles, joint most interceptions, six clearances, most blocked shots (in terms of defence) with joint most key passes, most successful dribbles, second most successful crosses, and a great assist (in terms of offence). It's like having an extra man at times!
- Although I think he's tailed off recently, Burrows remains a key attacking threat, with joint most key passes, most successful crosses, as well as joint second most successful tackles, 4 clearances, and won two aerial duels.
- In terms of attack, BBD's recent improvement, as he gets match sharp, continued, with most shots, most aerial duels won (6), a key pass and a goal, and he was ranked third overall in terms of positive contributions, with Campbell ranking second. We have had some very dodgy stats with some strikers over the season, but these two are consistently scoring highly, and are must starters. Cannon touched the ball four times in his 24 minutes on the pitch, making just one pass (although was a key pass and could have been an assist!)
- Finally, Cooper deserves mention for a couple of crucial saves, and Choud at right back was very lucky to avoid a second yellow, and it was great to see Seriki back, who made twice as many successful tackles as Robbo and Anel put together, as well as bursting forward and winning key free kicks
Our away form is remarkable, and should give us confidence for the run in, and we gained 2 points on the Dirties whilst putting more pressure on the plane pointers (whose defence must crack eventually!). And a Sheffield double - happy days.....
