Really?

Keen Blade? Are you sure about your user name? :(

Sure I am sure , ever since we signed Tony Currie when I was in short trousers !
But it was way past my bedtime and stuff that I really want to hurl at the Club gets hurled onto the forum.

I have been all the way up and all the way down with the Blades in my 50 years of allegiance. I fear I will not see them at the top table again , a fear exacerbated by the very real prospect of the canned fish billionaires lording it over me for the rest of my days , which could be 30 years of hell.

NA does not act like a manager about to get promotion and unless he pulls his finger out soon we are not going up. I don't think the Blades could afford to sack him and he will have a tighter budget next year. His signings are poor apart from Sharp , his team play so crap they are outside the top six in a crap division , so you tell me how we are not staring into the abyss ?

I am not the type who always thinks he could do the job better than the incumbent board or manager. It's probably happened a handful of times in 50 years , but RIGHT NOW is one of those times. I cannot swallow the media apologetic rhetoric alongside the sheer incompetence. We do not need to be faffing around at 7th in L1. Our leadership and decision-making is appalling.

At times like these the phrase "We are all in the gutter but some of us are looking at the stars" is liable to be quoted. Well , I could probably take living in the gutter with my mates at the Lane , but if one of the stars I am looking at is Sheffield fucking Wednesday , I may have to close my eyes........permanently !

How dare the incompetents run my club into abject mediocrity from 2007 - 2016 ?

So watch out tomorrow night at Blackpool , because I am ready to give the hierarchy a good shaking. Metaphorically speaking , of course !

Great reply KeenBlade! I've 'liked' it not because I agree with all you have put as I still think you have gone a bit over the top but of course that's your pergoative and I can certainly sense the anger and frustration you feel. I have a more positive outlook and although of course not happy at being league 1 I do think NA will get it right and he should be given time to do so. Enjoy the game tomorrow, a win and we're in the playoffs!

Whereas for me it would be

----------------- New -------------
Brayford - New - New - New
---------------- New --------------
Coutts ------- New ------- Adams
--------- Sharp --- Done --------

Subs:
Long
+ CM
+ CB
+ Utility
+ Striker/AM

Big money.

Pompey it does not have to be big money spent on players at this level . Good scouting and management could fill the gaps . It's whether or not we have the savvy or management / scouting system to be successful within a fixed budget . Other clubs manage to do it on a tight budget , but we are talking about SUFC unfortunately, were prices get inflated or the Midas touch goes out of the window.

Hmm. We need two solid, agile, cohesive and above all else, experienced centre backs. They must read each other (and the keeper) well, be able to dominate the 18 yard box at set pieces and put in some telling tackles without picking up too many yellows and reds. We need a left back whose work rate is exceptional. He needs to provide a full stop route for any nippy wingers and be able to 'pull across' as Brayford pushes on the other wing to form an effective defensive trio. He also needs to link well with his corresponding winger and recover to defend. We need two central midfielders, one of whom sits and one who supports and creates. These roles aren't mutually exclusive. They need to be able to break opposition play up, find people with a pass and contribute at least ten to fifteen goals in a season between them from a secondary attack role or set pieces. We need a goalkeeper whose weaknesses aren't everyone else's strongpoints, who can stop shots, hold the ball whilst jumping under pressure and whose distribution is above 65%.

That aint gonna come cheap. Its Game Changing and it's an Investment, because combined with the players we have, it looks like the Triple Assault team of the early 2000s.
