I like that and would love to have one. I don't think Walth Snr would speak to me for a while though, he fuckin' hates that shirt.

Well, Walthy that u already possess the shirt compounds the felony in my book

- as for Cantors® - I work at the Cantor building at Hallam these days and Mr. Cantor should sing his own jingle.

It's was generally hated at the time. No stripes and it coincided with our first ever season in the third tier and then relegation to the 4th tier. It was also worn on 26/12/79

For those of us who watched United then, it has nothing but bad memories.

Agree with that (I wasn't around and I love the shirt) - I expect this season's shirt to invoke similar reactions in years to come. Loads hate the fact that it is not red and white stripes in the traditional way, yet, if you look at it objectively it is a hell of a good looking shirt.

Give it 20 years and everyone will want a 15/16 Home shirt - apart from us lot who saw us lose 4 - 2 at home to Shrewsbury in it.

Another relegation shirt - 75-6 and our lowest ever points total.
Still great shirts though :)

Objectively, you'd hardly say any football shirt was a "design classic" It's all subjective really and seeing Derek Richardson floundering in the mud at Hillsborough, Don Givens missing his penalty and Tony Moore in all his pomp in THAT kit means it is subjectively hated by anyone old enough to remember it.

Indeed. My dad reckons our relegation was punishment for ditching red and white stripes.

I think a Feyenoord-style kit would look alright myself. Even though I hate Feyenoord.

Top 3 hated home shirts:-

Cantors/Ajax abomination 79-81
Red and White Diamonds abomination 95-96
The white abomination of this season - message to Jim Phipps this shirt wasn't the one United wore in our golden period (1898-1902), it was proper red and white stripes.

Also not fond of those with black pinstripes - 76 relegated, 79 relegated, 94 relegated, didn't they also debut the 12-13 kit in the Stevenage game, the one when we blew it.

Best
70-71
96-97 Kendall one - last good 'un in recentish times
Champion one (81-82)
