In this post you talk about enjoying the moment but in your previous one you say you’ll be devastated if we don’t make Europe.
That doesn’t sound like enjoying the moment to me.

I’m loving this season and if we get to Europe, it’s a massive bonus. If we don’t, it’s still been a great season. I’ll be a little disappointed but that’s it. The future is still bright.
but if we dont make it itll only be disappointment weve had before
so think I will cope
Ill take the risk of a bit of faith

I hope that helps you understand why many of us want us to succeed, enjoy success, but prepare for the possibility that we might fail. And barring the highly unlikely outcome of relegation this season (still mathematically a possibility),

prepare for the possibility ,, again why
and the mathematical possibilty of relegation , which is utterly ludicrous seep in still

more mathematical chance of me winning the lottery on tuesday and friday
Again, I ask you to read the post I wrote. I asked you for examples of posts which you claim say we don’t want United to improve or win more games. That is very different from saying that we are not yet mathematically safe, and relegation is a remote possibility. So where are the posts wanting us to fail, not wanting progress, not wanting us to win more points?

You always need a target in order to generate that last bit of effort - hence the “on the beach” syndrome for teams that have no targets left.

With Chris this will never be a problem. At present he will be aiming for 3rd - and if that becomes unrealistic then 4th and so on. I remember in League 1 in the last game against Chessy, when we had already won everything and they made it 2-2 after about an hour he went mental, and then when Danny Lafferty banged it in with 10 to go it was as though Chris had won the Champions League - just because he got the 100 instead of 99!

He’s driven - his Magic is an ever evolving place - and what an amazing place it is to share.

I don’t want us to get into Europe. It’s shit. So’s the PL. Just a pile of wank. I’m disappointed we’re staying up and I have to watch this shite again next season. I can’t wait until we’re back in L1 and we’re not arguing over loyalty points. I love booing and I’ve only had a few opportunities to boo this season. I miss moaning and writing really long posts about how shit we are and how I could do KM’s job and the manager’s job at the same time and still do better than both of them. And all these pundits blowing smoke up our arses about overlapping centre backs, whatever the fuck that is.

I’ve just done one. For the sake of ‘balance’.

Just keep doing what we are doing and putting points on the board where we can. We have been consistently good all season and there's no reason why that cannot continue until the very end. We can't control what other teams do but having to play Wolves, Chelsea & Spurs at home as well as Man U away gives us a great chance of a top 6 finish, maybe higher?

We might not get a better chance for a few seasons to compete for European football, the standard has been the worst for some years, everyone apart from Liverpool, (and us) have been shit by usual standards, normally by now top 3/4 would be in much stronger positions by now with a couple fighting out for the Europa place. The fact that Chelsea are still in the top 4 despite losing 9 games this season says it all...

Top 4 after 28 games in 2019 was;

Liverpool 69 points
City 68 points
Spurs 60 points
Arsenal 56 points

This year;

Liverpool 79 points
City 57 points
Leicester 50 points
Chelsea 45 points

Interestingly 40 points would have had us 7th/8th last year as well so that part of the table is at least consistent, it's just the teams occupying 2nd, 3rd & 4th are 10/11 points down on where they should be.

Just keep plugging away Blades....

Presuming the Man City European ban holds firm, and that a top 7 team wins the FA Cup, what points tally do you predict is required to finish 8th?
And do you think we can really do it? I'm going to say 55 points as my prediction to get 8th spot, and that Norwich is a must win for us to manage it.

At the moment we're 8th, if the PPG continues for the remainder of the season then we'll end up on 56 points. I think that would comfortably get us into Europe as we'd be taking points off rivals as we go. So I think 56 points to answer your OP.

Thanks for actually answering the question! We're only 1pt off each other then. It has been a great season regardless of how it ends, but if today and saturday go our way... bloody hell the mood on here will be incredible!

If the results don't go well it will be hari kari time.
I’m already collecting phrases to abuse the cry babies with. I’m starting with ‘self entitled wankers’ and then moving onto ‘pig clones’.

Glad you let me know. I found myself nodding in agreement as I was reading your post. Rather like on another thread there's a video of United v Gillingham, Higdon came on the last 20 minutes and, you know, he really looked quite good... And we used to leave home at 2.20, park near the ground, and be in our seats by 2.50. Nowadays, we.... just see what you've started.
(Yes, I am bored waiting for the Reading match to start.)

We aren’t winning enough games to finish top 7, I recon we’ll finish 8-12th which would be marvellous.

If we can manage a win this weekend I may change my mind but can see the Norwich game either being a draw or a loss, they HAVE to win this game and it’s going to be really tough.

I predicted 55 points would be enough for 8th in the OP. Might take a couple more? Either way I think we're gonna manage it.. maybe even 7th!
