......for the play off spots!

I can't hazard a guess at our point tally from those remaining games, anyone give us a prediction?

To be fair to us, we usually perform against the better teams. A win at Walsall is vital to give hope to all before those 3 home games.

Not a bad run in and we do seem to perform against better opposition . Its the games against Crewe , Oldham , Yeovil , Port Vale , will make or break us .

The Management team behind Clough of Crosby , Garner and Morgan have to earn there money , as Clough cannot be the cook , cleaner , tea maker , bottle washer .

We go on about Clough , but the players are letting themselves and him down.

Even his back room staff are letting him down . In saying that we still need a CH , like now , which is down to Clough.

5 games ago I couldn't see anyone in the above list causing us a problem. Now I can't see where our next points are coming from unless Walsall field a reserve team on Tuesday to save themselves for Wembly's JPT final

Next 3 home games are vital imo. We really should be getting 9 points there. If that happens then we go in to the game at Barnsley with confidence high again and a feel good factor amongst fans again.

It's a boring cliché - but you've got to take one game at a time.

Looking at bunches of "winnable home games" has not been very good for us so far this season....

Not prepared to hazard a guess at the points tally, but fairly sure I can guess the identity of the forum member who says "30",,,,,,,,,

All that matters now is Walsall on Tuesday

the game in hand is our only plus point , if we can make it pay for us
6 of the last 10 being at home SHOULD be an advantage, but the last 2 home games showed thats not a certainty

So long as we are in 5th or 6th place come May is all that matter now , then go on a 3 match winning run

Looking at the way things are shaping up if we do end up in a play of spot I can see us finishing 6th with Dingles fifth MKD 4th and Swindon 3rd.
Dingles v Swindon final then

I know we beat Swindon 2-0 last time around but we got dicked at their place and in all honesty should have been 4-0 down at half time at home. That does not bode well for a two legged tie.

I'll suggest 16 points from our last 30 - and that will mean ....................

I'll guess at between 17 and 20.

By the end of this season surely we will have set some sort of new record for gaining the most amount of points over a four season period but not getting promoted.

Say we finish on 70 points, that'll be a total of 302 points over the last four seasons.

Moot point of course if we somehow score and win at Wembley.

I can see the next four games being draws then we will lose at the Dingles and draw with Donny. Maybe we will get away wins @ Oldham and Yeovil but then I see us losing at home to Bradford, lose away to Orient who are finally getting a bit of form before ending with a home draw v Chessy.
Why ? because we still can't score enough goals and every game we are odds on to concede at least one from a set piece.
So another 12pts which will not be anywhere near enough 8th place misery for us.

After sitting through that yesterday [and most of the others this season] be prepared to be disappointed!

Last six games has produced as many points - not good enough [in terms of promotion] but no surprise to anyone other than those wearing rose tinted Blades specs [those who were quoting 90 pts only a few weeks back and / or automatic promotion ]. Current form is only slightly better than the run we had in January early Feb - 7 games, 5 pts and that was v poor too.

Not enough industry, not enough passion, not enough leadership [on and off the pitch] for me. It's all very bland and I've been saying it for weeks that the play offs are by no means a certainty at all. That said, if we do manage to scrape in, what outcome might we expect playing like this?

Oh to be a Blade - deep joy!

It's hard to imagine clough putting a team out with no grit or passion after last season. It has that feeling of the first couple of games of the season. He has turned it round a few times already this season so he could do it again, however this is the business end and non of the players brought in have experience of the play offs.

He has gone all in on players he trusts from his Derby days and we just hope he gets it in time, so that we run into the play offs in abit of form. That's a big turnaround after the last few weeks!

We picked up 16 points in the corresponding fixtures against the teams yet to play. Would that get us top 6? (Not in the last 8 seasons & can't be arsed to check back further)

Current form would suggest we will not make the play off's, the last 6 game form is depressing and the last 10 game form is not a great deal better. Carry on as we are till the end of the season and we will finish 8th or 9th which given the resources Clough has enjoyed would be a disaster.
