Like I said look how things go when you comment on something you find out. Passing on to fellow blades what I know. That's all if it comes off then we have what every one has been crying out for if not then we keep looking

Really, were you at Brentford when Ched gladly accepted the pass Simon Moore rolled him for our second goal?
He ain't that good!

Long time ago that mate.

Imagine how different our reviews of Jamie Murphy were just after he signed as opposed to before we sold him?
Players develop over time and make mistakes, making an error 5 years ago doesn't make him a bad player.

Signing a backup keeper, with 1yr left on his contract, for £500k smacks of a desperation signing to me.

I haven't seen him player, but he can't be worse then what we have got.

I genuinely hope Wilder is being astute here, but I am worried...

Steady that's a Demi flounce your chucking out there Mb

We are fishing around in the lower reaches of league two for thread starters, where's the ambition?

Surely we should be looking at some up and coming OP's with potential to add to our aging and predictable team.

Yooonited - Tinpot!

Young tyros are all very well but you win nowt wi' kids.

A few older heads are essential. One's who have posted in more illustrious fora than this, perhaps even opined abroad. The types who have seen it all, rubbished it all, know it all, got the Tony Currie T-shirt.

They don't panic when the ITK is white hot, keep their nerve when the crayons are flying and aren't afraid to mix it in the Shoutbox battlefield.

I've decided I'm the Gordan Cowans of S24SU....

Got to admit, I was suprised by the fee, but I bet the loan fee combined with the wages of Lee Grant would have come close to £500k.

I think I'd prefer Moore to Grant, based on the fact that the Moore deal would be a permanent.

Guys....we couldn't find a keeper in the world that hasn't made a mistake that's cost a goal for Christs sake.

Way we are talking, if we were offered joeHart on loan we would be calling it a shit signing.

All he's got to do, is command his area and organise the back four better than Long for it to be an improvement to the team. His arrival of its right I see as a positive.

I can't see him being used as back-up. Wilder will have said that in case he doesn't get a keeper signed and to make sure Long knows his manager is still behind him.

George is a good shot stopper but that's about all at the moment. We need more than that and I'm not sure George can give it the fans are on his back and that's shot his confidence but he keeps making mistakes and can't command his box. That's no good for the back four if they are constantly worried he will make a mistake

To me it is more recognising a problem, identifying a viable solution and going for it. All good and I hope it comes off.

That's a good 15 threads now.

Great strength in depth for the forum. We're looking very strong.

Well I've seen him a time or two since and despite being imposingly built, as I like keepers to be, he seems to have a bit of Longesque quality about him.
He's never cut it at Cardiff.
However, despite my reservations about him, he'll get a fair crack of whip from me. Like you say, he may well have developed better habits these days, we shall see in due course...

The very very best keepers out there make perhaps one or two mistakes a season that cost goals.

When they are costing you a goal every two games (or more..George) then they have to be replaced.

If we are paying a fee like this for a keeper, hopefully it will show the long support group that our manager thinks a new keeper is urgent and put to bed their argument of giving him another 40 years to improve.

Hardly a "support group" but a lot recognise that he's not the root cause of the problem. We have many positions on the pitch that could be bettered, GK being one of them. I lost it at bit with people around me that blamed Long for the 1st 2 goals the other night. Nothing to do with him the 1st. 2nd was a misunderstanding but yet people decided to blame him above anybody else. 3rd, again, nothing to do with him.
I do think we need a solid GK but to blame him for every goal conceded is damn right pathetic

Simon Moore - born and raised on the Isle of Wight.

Any other IoW born Blades ?

Thought not.

Thread closed (possibly).

He's a Blade get behind him and support him...if he's crap then we can get on his back...Blades way

If we really are paying 500,000 there is something afoot here. The common wisdom is that we are on a tight budget. Tufty, as I call him, has made it very clear he wants another 2 or 3 recruits. Paying half a million for a keeper only fits if there is a bigger picture. Maybe the deal includes a settlement of the outstanding instalments of the Beard fee?

That could be a possibility actually, we could've reached a compromise. Maybe it's what lead us to consider Moore in the first place.

Sorry I wouldn't even say he's a good shot stopper. The goal v Rochdale was an example of that. The crowd wasn't on his back at that point either.

Let's hope he's looking for another centre half and midfielder as well !
