One thing I've found out about myself during the crisis is that I'm liable to change my mind every day. Historically, I've gone to a lot of Small Ball Games. Academy games. Friendlies. SUFC Futures, England Youth. Often with a crowd in just two figures. But, for Big Ball Games, a full on, bang at it crowd is part of the deal for me. I'm firmly in the Football Without Fans Isn't Football camp. I hope my team wins every game they play & win the league. And I want every Blade to enjoy themselves. But, personally, I have little interest in the current series of Post-Season, Straight to TV, Snot Test Friendlies. What I am comfortable with is there's a necessary route back to football. And Snot Ball & then Eeny Meeny Miney Mo Ball are on that route. I'm naturally inclined to All Fans Or No Fans - but it can't go that way. I'm not a ST Holder, I won't get in, and that sounds right in the circumstances. One day......

What also must be factored in are those fans who wouldn’t go anyway as they are still shielding. I’m sure someone sat near me wouldn’t go as the common flu could kill him so he will be shielding for a while yet.
we have lots of fans over 80, will they still be going....or will someone else take their ticket.

How do you allocate who goes , who stays. Should imagine that if you group seats into ‘family ’ bubbles, that make it easier for tickets to be allocated.

I can’t see how 40% can work, you’d have to have the seats in front and behind empty, does the whole row have to go each time somebody needs the loo? How do you stop people who can’t attend passing tickets on to friend who can? It’s going to be such a nightmare for club to sort out perhaps they may decide not to bother.

This is kind of how they went about allocating tickets for the end of season games at Bohemians in Prague. It was first come first served for season tickets, but if you got a ticket for that game, you weren't able to use it for the next game.

I have to say, it didn't really work out especially fairly, but then nothing was ever going to.

But the principle would still work. Even if 59% of season ticket holders had the surname 'Blade', it would simply mean that the cut off point would be A-Blade,TomJones one week and Blade,TomJonson-Z the next week.

They move closer towards 20,000 and you only have to miss 4 games over the season. That’s the level they need to get to given family groupings and spreading folk out throughout all the stands.
40% is bollocks. How can 40% of Man Utd’s crowd be as safe as 40% of Bournemouth’s? Inside the ground is only one aspect of it, IF this is a safety thing.

Because my grandson would be in one half and we would be in another. We travel to games together. The club will work something sensible out that we can all agree with.

It's shit nobody is going to pay for a season ticket, and then to be told they can only attend X amount of games and the clubs will suffer with lost revenue, it's either all or none.

There’s a clear increased risk of spread with nearly 100,000 fans going all over the country twice a week. The most sensible first step is to say there’s going to be no away fans next season and then use the extra space to seat more ST holders.

You just run out of space quicker at an 11K stadium.

Outside the ground however and coming in is the issue. Turnstiles, staggered exits, more toilets, no food and drink will all need to be considered.

My point wasn’t inside, also not all stands are the same. If you are right at the back of a massive stand the air circulation is going to be much less than in our stands as they’re much more open to the elements.
If they’re doing this for the Premier League they need to assess each ground individually and give them a number based on actual risks rather than just a finger in the air 40%.

And I say this as someone who would probably not get a ticket to any of the games if it was done on loyalty points (as opposed to having a ST, in which case, woohoo). I'd be more than happy for other people to get to go though seeing as my current circumstances are just watching every game on TV anyway.

The chaos it would cause as some fans would be favoured over others. It will be loyalty points based and we are now at a point where we are not far off needing 100,000 loyalty points to get first refusal on tickets. The atmosphere still won't be as good and how would social distancing be implemented around the ground.

Why do you think it'll be loyalty points based? I think everyone knows that's a bad idea, I imagine that'd include people working at the club.

The fairest method is surely what will be used, and the fairest method is a lottery.

Agree about the around the ground stuff though, travel, turnstiles, toilets, food and drink. Lots to consider.

Unfortunately not every game is going to be televised next season. (I know the obvious answer but the crack down on Middle East pirating will effect illegal streaming)

Season tickets, if there are any, will account for not being drawn to attend.

They're not going to charge you full price for no football, we're not Wednesday.

They could cost, say, £100 and you can top them up if you're drawn for more games, but the prices remain ST prices not general sale prices.

But how many others are in the same position regards different names in families? My solution isn't foolproof but it's as simple as it could possibly be.
