4-3-3

This seems like it would work quite well to me. Naturally I'd prefer us to have a permanent option at CB rather than loan players, and if everyone's fit I'm starting Kennedy, but it's close to the best we have if Adkins insists on starting Sharp every game

Well in my opinion Sharp's our best player and when he's fit he really needs to play

if 4-3-3 then this would be a great opportunity to drop Collins and get Basham into defence.

Howard
Freeman McGahey Basham K.Wallace
Coutts Baxter Hammond
Done Sharp Adams

Subs
Long, Alcock, Collins, Reed, JCR, Sammon, McNulty

This is just the best side, it's so clear to me anyway.

However, one slight adjustment, or perhaps just further detail, is to make it a 4-2-3-1.

Freeman McGahey Bash Wallace
Hammond Coutts
Adams. Baxter Done
Sharp

Just makes complete sense to me.

A lot is made of the need to drop Collins but for me, he needs to play at the moment. He helps McGahey through games (like he did with Maguire in his early days). He’s also the only one who seems comfortable playing on the un-favoured left side.

I wouldn’t want to see Basham with McGahey. I think individually either is fine but neither has the experience of the position to lead the other. Collins with either one of those 2 for me at the back at present. When Edgar’s fit, if he can get his form back, might be able to then replace Collins but out of the current options, he is the CB that has to play for me.

Collins has played.well in recent games.

One highlight from Tuesday was when he was given the responsibility of a free ten yards or so in their half. We couldn't believe it. Played the ball out wide to JCR, and it got there.

:-)

On Saturday I'd be going for something like:

Howard
Freeman McGahey Collins/Basham K.Wallace
Coutts/Basham Baxter Hammond
Done Sharp Adams

Just not creative enough down the middle with Hammond/Bash combo.

It would be interesting to see, but mobility in midfield is the weakness of that side.

Blader I tend to agree with your team although not Collins biggest fan I may

play him in place of mcgahey at the moment I would definitely try coutts and

Hammond together

Was Scougall injured or just dropped last night?
No idea, hadn't heard he was injured, and he's not made the squad when fit before. Although he does seem have frequent injury problems so it wouldn't surprise me. Was really dissapointed he had to come off against Rochdale, as he seemed to be regaining some form, even if it was mostly against Notts County.

Has to be 4-2-3-1 all day for me. Said it from the start of the season.

Front 6:

------Basham----Hammond/Coutts

Adams---------Baxter----------Done

----------------Sharp.

Basham for the legs in the middle of the park as he's the only one with the energy to do it, Hammond/Coutts to sit and be the link between defence and midfield, Baxter to link the midfield and attack. Adams and Done pushing on when we're in possession and tracking back when we're not.

Nowt wrong with this, but certainly Basham needs to venture past the forwards ...........................

Yes good call Robbiezbbb, I also think it will be a close game. We're scoring freely but conceding a few.

So 4-3 from me also, or maybe 3-3?

4-3-3? Have I missed something?

It seems again that Adkins is determined to play 4-4-2

With the players we have I can't see 4-4-2 working. If you're playing that formation it would be fairly obvious that we'd have to start with Sammon and Sharp upfront. I don't think Done adds anything on the wing (and it's fairly obvious he doesn't want to play there) and I'm dubious that Adams is mature enough to play out wide either. That would mean we can't really start with arguably two of our best players.

I also don't believe Basham and Hammond will ever work as a centre midfield duo.

Again, 4-3-3 seems to be the logical way forward. We can add creativity in midfield, use the fullbacks for width and have 3 up top with pace.
