I think wilder will continue with this formation but I don't think it will work in the championship

Firstly fleck and coutts aren't defensive mined enough, at least in that set up, and will leave the back 3 exposed

Also with the wingbacks pushing on like they have this season there'll be a lot of space behind them for quick wingers to exploit.

I hope it does work and we play the attacking pressing football we have this season but I do worry

I think wilder might revert to the 4 1 3 2 we played early in the season with maybe Basham In the sweeper role to protect the defence.

This means we can pack the midfield if needed and still leave 2 up for when we are on the front foot.

I don't see us playing 3-5-2 very much next season either, certainly not with a three made up from Fleck, Coutts, Duffy and Carruthers, we would be way toe exposed except when playing the scrubbers of the division such as Burton and Bolton.

Defensively is where our problems lie. Apart from a few 3-0's which boosted up the stats, there were not many games where we kept a clean sheet. CW's idea is OK if we score more than we let in, which in L1 worked, but I have doubts if it will work so well in the Championship.

I would like to see a couple of big CB's in the new season line up, but it's still early days, so no panic yet.

352? Bit ambitious that, I would settle for another 100.

Good point.

With a maximum 138 points available we'd need a few snookers to get 352. Somehow I can't see the FA and Sir Trevor falling over themselves to award us an extra 200 odd points.

New defenders/wing backs and a tweak to our mentality should make it more workable. More athleticism and a bit more defensive discipline from the wing backs will help stabilise us. We'll have to do this to get the balance right. I think we'll be OK with 3-5-2 a lot of the time but also expect to see us line up with a back 4 quite often too. Wilder will make sure we've got the right options to play a number of ways.

I think it's here to stay. Every other club (including Chelsea) seemed to follow is adopting it.

It works well for us, allows us to play 2 up front which is good for Billy , and if it's good for Billy it's good for us

It's very simple to me - it's 3-5-2 - no question what so ever.

We need to take this seasons confidence into next season and get early points on the board.

Barnsley did a great job getting early points and it stood them well in the 2nd half of the season. Admittedly, they sold 3 of there 4 best players in the JTW, but those early points saw them through.

No reason why the medium term idea shouldn't be 4 at the back, WHY change a winning formula? It works for us.

It really is a no brainer.

Anyway, has anyone asked why a lot of the premier league have followed Chelsea's lead? 3 at the back is the present flavour. We did it first - can someone tell Conte ;)

It also allows our marauding centre backs (Bash and Magic) to charge forward and create chaos.

All about mentality imo. If the players believe in 352 go out and and take it to the opposition, a couple of wins from the off and teams will see we are not to be taken lightly and we could see teams adapting to combat us and not vice versa

Not sure why people don't think Fleck in particular is defensive minded I've seen him make many a good tackle and interception this season his confidence on the ball and eye for a pass takes all the plaudits but his break up play and pressing is equally as impressive

Need a couple of centre halves, a centre midfielder with strength and a couple of back up full backs.

As long as we set up with the formation that best plays to the strengths of the players available to us we'll be ok. Can be 3-5-2 or 4-3-1-2 or 0800 442351 (calls cost 10p a minute from land lines - mobile charges may differ) for all I care.

I tried calling that number and was greeted with a mature lady requesting I stick my fist in her vagina

1-1-8. We shall march to victory by scoring more goals than the opposition. 10-9 wins every week will do me just fine and dandy, thank you.

Moving up a league means we will be facing better opposition, with a different mentality. They won't be looking to park the bus both home and away against us. I would think CW and AK will be looking to keep their options open to combat their opponents.
