Living in derby for two years and working with a mix of derby stoke forest Leicester and a fair few brum fans its amazing how well our support and stadium is respected by others. Derby fans reckon its the best atmosphere they've been too at the lane and live the ground. To most they regard it as the must not miss away game . Brum sold out on the basis of the lane been a brilliant day out but a place to fear in a great atmosphere. This Wendy thing is past its sell by date and the only people they fool are themselves.. For me who has been to 89 of the current league grounds in total and 308 in total Id like to think a day out at the lane is like the old mane road man city or roker park with passionate loyal fans a raw atmosphere and a partizan crowd.

Darra, financial genius, self promoter and Bigger Pig. Ha ha.

The actual Matchday income for that year (2016) was £7.8m. As usual, making figures up to suit. No breakdown further than that

Just taking into account season tickets, the figure is higher than £7.50 even at £3.5m
Did the maths on another thread. It works out at £15.71 per head.

The above gives average attendances over the years.

If they've had "many" +30k attendances, based on those figures, they must have had some really low ones, every season, for that claim to be true.

Blatant lies, easily shown up for what they are, show how desperate they're getting.

Got to give credit to the Sunderland fans. Their jeering the of fifth highest attendance in the country and giving a song of "I've got a shed as big as this" in a game against this year's relegation fodder was a dedication to irony most can only dream of.

Its all well and good having a large shed, but no point if you only have one rake in it! :D

Even in the days of waddle Hurst etc they would get near on 35 thousand for man Utd and the next week 18 thousand v palace or Wimbledon

Never been a big club

But that’s because Man United had the official 6 or 7,000 in the away end
Then another 5,000 sat amongst the home fans.
Hillsboro was always one of them stadiums where there was plenty of space.

The poor fucker has been lied to about how big Wednesday are all his life. The fact we are now averaging more AND we are well above them in the league will be sending them in directions of all kinds of crazy excuses soon. Their minds will be frazzled. I'm looking forward to it.

They'll just blame this on Chansiri's pricing and we give all our tickets away for a fiver to students! They have a point with their prices, but even before the price hike, they averaged around 22,000 - 24,000 which is not the massive club they think they are. Decent support but no better than many other teams in the league like Leeds, Norwich, Wolves, Forest, Derby - who have averaged more than Wednesday for about 10 years now - and ourselves.

Bolton pigs and Leeds coming up all around 30k plus attendance's. Still got villa forest and middlesbrough to come with big away support and possibly Warnock's Cardiff visit depending on league positions and form , at least 7 big games left at the lane our average could end up around the 27/28k mark.
Bolton game wont be anywhere near 30k be closer to 25k looking at online ticket sales.

Bolton have sold 900 so far, so should be 1000 of their fans at the game.
Which isn’t that bad really because they’ve not had an away win for months.

Punters through the gate doesn’t matter anymore the new attendance debate is now who gets the most hate receipts. Plus one of their mathamatical genius posters says our average gate receipt is £7.50.

Worst thing is that he's wrote that in an attempt to be serious. It's brilliant when they start coming out with this shit because it shows how much it hurts them.

I do applaud the random numbers he's come out with though. Tried hard to make it look true.

I also see the mandatory "my imaginary Blade mate says" trope has popped up again. Always a give away that they have no argument so rely on made up conversations out of pure desperation.

The stat that really does them in is the failure to average 30k in the past 50 seasons. Their galactico team of Hirst and Waddle couldn't pull them in like our team with Kozluk and Monty.
Theyre will be a caveat for that
Attendances were historically low or aliens prevented many attendees from entering the ground

That is the big one for me when any pathetic argument about attendances starts with Weds 'mates'. For all the bluster and rubbish they talk - I normally just say 'When did you last average over 30,000 for the season?' A lot state the mid 90's with certainty and others say a few in the 80's. The look on their face when you give them the facts is priceless.

They make out how big they are and what crowds they would get if ever they got back to the Prem. The realiy is they have had a team with Wilkinson that did really well mid 80's (5th, 8th) and then in the 90's wiith Francis et al (3rd, 7th, 7th and another 7th in 1997). For all that they have never averaged over 30,000 for the season. You have to go back to 1966/67 for them to hit this mark. 50 YEARS. FIVE ZERO.

We have done it twice in same period (1971/72 and 2006/07 - Prem season).

They can suddenly turn up for the games like Wycome or Play off games (as many teams do)

I know so many so called 'Weds' fans who have not been to a games since that Wycome game. It is incredible.

They actually believe their own lies and it is startling.

We now have a better team, play better football, have bigger crowds, better manager. We produce more players More local connections and a team more together. You state this to them and they stutter and stammer. It's delightful. We just need to drive a final stake in to them in a few weeks at the Lane.

Seems as though our attendance has made it I've to North Korea talk, apparently we haven't had many 30k crowds outside the prem. Now just to add balance let's compare their crowds when they had their one of their best seasons in a generation in 2015/2016. A massive 22k average they got that season with one solitary 30k crowd in the last game of the season when they secured playoffs.

Once again they believe their own hype and how they keep up the myths is incredible.

Must be 50 years since they averaged 30,000 ...................... massive my arse. Another thing they will never admit is regular sub 10,000 Div3 crowds in the 70's.

Talking of attendances we had 2000 seats netted off yesterday WHY ? What is the thinking of not selling the first 2 rows in both tiers of Bramall Lane and why not sell the end sections of the lower tier to away fans there are natural barriers for segregation at either side.

yes I imagine South Yorks Plod have done the complicated slide-rule maths and computed that a piss filled bottle cannot possible hit the fans below in the BLLT when thrown from the 3rd row back in the Upper Tier but from the first two rows its like an Exocet.

As someone earlier in the thread suggested, we ought to install dummy seats just to give the Police an opportunity to satisfy themselves that they've roped them off, and avoided another tragedy.

Would love to know the real reason behind the netting.
I’ve heard different theories like

1: The concourse areas in the lower and upper tier are too crowded, so they want to relieve half time congestion.
2: Putting netting over the front 2 or 3 rows of the lower tier makes it harder for away fans to run on the pitch.
3: Putting netting over the front 3 rows of the upper tier make it harder for fans to fall off or throw things down to the fans below.

It’s does make you wonder what will happen if we get promoted to the PL because the PL rule
Is that always fans must be given 3000 seats or 10% of the stadium capacity. Which ever is lower.

So all of a sudden once a club gets back in the PL there are no safety worries
And our capacity goes back up to 32,700.

You need to remember that they are much much better supported than us. The actual figures showing that that's not true are meaningless. It's what they believe that's important.

They've already played the Carlos/shit season card as to why their gates are no better than ours this season after last years "they're all using kids tickets" claim
to be fair I think that there's 8 in front of me in the John St. who are doing just that.

Didn't we get 31000 against Chesterfield last season?

If you remember Chesterfield only had the very end section in the Lower tier, and I believe that was half filled with Blades, if my eyes didn’t deceive me ?
