Seems as though our attendance has made it I've to North Korea talk, apparently we haven't had many 30k crowds outside the prem. Now just to add balance let's compare their crowds when they had their one of their best seasons in a generation in 2015/2016. A massive 22k average they got that season with one solitary 30k crowd in the last game of the season when they secured playoffs.

Once again they believe their own hype and how they keep up the myths is incredible.

That was kop corner yesterday. Whoever designed that should have been sacked. Can’t believe it was given the go ahead.

Yet to try that stand. I imagine the view from the back rows [central] are quite good but I have heard mixed reports about elsewhere.

Got to give credit to the Sunderland fans. Their jeering the of fifth highest attendance in the country and giving a song of "I've got a shed as big as this" in a game against this year's relegation fodder was a dedication to irony most can only dream of.

No point building a big shed if its half-empty (trying to think if there's something similar in Sheffield 6?). Best like my garden shed - rammed

They’ve got 30k that frequently that they’ve never averaged 30k plus in that time quoted. We have...

They truly are the masters of bullshit.

While not really wanting to take part in any attendance based knob waving, I feel this is the correct time and place to regale you all with a recent conversation I had at work with a pig. He was recalling the first match of the 1994 season, when Spurs rocked up at the sty with Klinsman and won 4-3. He was telling me how the only place he could manage to get in the ground was that 'dole corner' next to Leppings Lane. 'There were over 45,000 there, it might have been nearer 50...' he enthused. A quick google search later revealed the actual attendance to be 34,051 which, to be fair, is indeed nearer to 50,000 when rounded up using standard pigonomics.

You need to remember that they are much much better supported than us. The actual figures showing that that's not true are meaningless. It's what they believe that's important.

They've already played the Carlos/shit season card as to why their gates are no better than ours this season after last years "they're all using kids tickets" claim

Sean they have perpetrated the myth that much that supporters of other clubs think they get these massive crowds. I was recently in the pub debating this with a few Wednesday fans and a few fans of other teams. The other lads all thought Wednesday got much bigger crowds than us. The look of surprise when I showed them the difference between attendances, they do love a good myth do our little sisters!

The issue that’s blurs their support is the massive away end.
Historically their away end always held over 6K, also I know a Man Utd fan who used to love playing Sheff Wed because he was always gauranteed a ticket in the home areas. Clubs like Man Utd and Liverpool would regularly take over 10K to swell the attendance.

This season Sunderland and Middlesboro both took over 3K to The Sty and Leeds took over 4K.
We’ve only offered visiting clubs just over 2K so we don’t need to rely on away numbers to boost the gate.

A stat that Wednesday fans hate is over the last 50 years, they’ve rarely sold out their ground.

Another stat they hate is that they all disappear back into their rat holes when they're playing shit.

Sunderland only brought 2,219 to Bramall Lane where as we took 3,039 to the Stadium of Light.

Also when Sunderland visted Hillsboro earlier in the season they took more than yesterday, it was 2,714 for a Tuesday night game.

That was early enough in the season for them to still have some optimism!:)

I’d be interested to know how many 30k plus crowds they’ve had over the last 40 years. Apart from end of season promotion deciders I’d say not many. Also why last 40 years, not 30 or 20?

You can be sure because it squeezes in a favourable period for them.

Biggest home crowd since Feb. 7th, 2009 v. pigs (30,786). Nearest since are Sept. 18th, 2009 v pigs (29,210) and Oct. 16th, 2011 v pigs (28,136).
Also bigger than Mar. 9th, 2014 v Charlton (FA Cup Quarter Final - 30,048) and Jan. 28th, 2015 (v. Tottenham, League Cup Semi-Final Second Leg - 30,236).

Total home crowds this season - 318,020. :)
Didn't we get 31000 against Chesterfield last season?

That was kop corner yesterday. Whoever designed that should have been sacked.

it was Carey Jones, known within the profession as 'Scary Jones' - they sent their firm into oblivion and phoenixed it into an Interior Design Company which (last season) advertises on the back of a hoarding facing the South Stand.

Absolute twats in my experience.

They took my initial design proposals, misunderstood them, cheapened them then got architectural technicians to draft it and fcuk it up. Refused to pay me what they promised till an article was published in the 'Architect's Journal' and then harangued me on the 'phone till I had to get Kevin Mc. to very kindly tell them to desist.

Kevin is a bad judge of architects I'm afraid. .... they were just arse-lickers.

Good job I don't hold a grudge isn't it ;) .

The poor fucker has been lied to about how big Wednesday are all his life. The fact we are now averaging more AND we are well above them in the league will be sending them in directions of all kinds of crazy excuses soon. Their minds will be frazzled. I'm looking forward to it.

massive respect to the sunderland fans in the traffic in a van (boro taxis?) singing ‘why are we so fucking shit’ on matilda street

Yeah I've just read on there how they hope Burton bring 4,000 to their ground as if that's anything like what Sunderland brought to ours. Another genius said if it wasn't for the Sunderland fans it would have been 27,000. He's right if we had been playing nobody.

Where on earth are all these 30k plus gates they speak of? Their delusion holds no bounds they are squirming because we are top dogs in every department at the moment.

who cares what our attendances are historically ?
Our fan base is growing exponentially and is only likely to get bigger

They can moan about it all they want but we are better supported now than in recent history and rather than being a stick to beat us with its a sign of how the football supporting populous of South Yorkshire is trending

If I had the time and could be arsed I’d have a look at just how many 30k gates they’ve had outside the top flight. I seriously doubt it to be “numerous”

I think Silent may know the answer.

That Chesterfield game last season. Over 31,000 and only a handful of away supporters.

Punters through the gate doesn’t matter anymore the new attendance debate is now who gets the most hate receipts. Plus one of their mathamatical genius posters says our average gate receipt is £7.50.

Well if you go back 50 years then the period between 1968-1978 they were nowhere to be seen and were getting attendances below 10k regularly whilst we were well above that. We averaged over 33k in 1971/2 alone.

They're just a bunch of dumbfucks, leave the fools to it.

Darra, financial genius, self promoter and Bigger Pig. Ha ha.

The actual Matchday income for that year (2016) was £7.8m. As usual, making figures up to suit. No breakdown further than that

Just taking into account season tickets, the figure is higher than £7.50 even at £3.5m
