I think more than the odd away fan would though, Liverpool/Arsenal etc fans that can't get into home games, 80 quid probably isn't that far off some of their tickets anyway.

I'm sure there's a way to sort it though, my under 10s no requirement idea perhaps, or if you don't have points you have to go to the ticket office in person and take some form of ID or something.

I get that. But in honesty, it’s the day trippers / youngsters we’re targeting here, trying to get them hooked.

Blackburn in the cup will rule lots out, but not many who are wishing to demonstrate any loyalty, I’d agree.

That's well on the ladder, plus any lower demand games to get over the threshold.

I expect Leicester will sell out so the ticketing arrangements will remain as advertised for Saturday.

Leicester operate an away season ticket jobby and have about 3 thousand on the waiting list ,that's about 6k in all. Its not just us with problems

I go to a lot of games, but can't commit to a ST every season.

I was planning to buy one this year, for the sole reason that I knew it would be a nightmare getting tickets, and importantly, a decent seat where I can see properly (albeit I like the atmosphere of the kop, rather than the upper tier)

I could've had one when they were available, as a returning season ticket holder, but I didn't. Purely because, being a superstitious bugger when it comes to football, I didn't want to jinx our promotion.

I wasn't happy when I heard there would be no general sale for season tickets.

I've had to fork out 40 quid for membership, but I'm pretty happy with how the club have set about selling to the likes of me. I get second or third dibs on the tickets, just have to watch out for my day, when they go on sale to my loyalty point band, and I can get a half decent seat.

I'm glad that I dont have to sit behind a post, or at pitch level, or not get a ticket at all, because some tourist has decided he suddenly wants to go all of a sudden.

This makes me feel relatively well looked after.

The loyalty point scheme has been going for a while.

If you haven't managed to get to 5 or 6 home games in the last 15 years, tough shit.

Palace will be a very rare occasion, almost every other prem club won’t find it difficult to shift 2,800 tickets.

There were plenty of empty seats in the wessy corner in front of me, also looked to be half the Library empty, few on John st, and the usual 20 or so behind the kop pillars, also noticed the front of the South stand had a few empty seats.
I'm guessing the fucking about with the stupid points system cost a sell out.

Well that’s what I highlighted as the main issue here. I don’t know the answer. I’d like to see genuine fans get tickets, but even more I’d rather see every seat occupied. And I don’t want to see new fans or potential long term supporters discouraged. This is a huge opportunity to expand our fan base, whoever that may be, and I hope the club can get it right.

The case you highlighted above needs sorting. Somebody with so many loyalty points should be able to get a ticket, or the membership be waived to what it was before £5 or whatever.

Look at the crowds before our last prem season. Then after. That one year grew the club.

We went up this year bigger than the last time. We shouldn't waste this chance again.

Can't help but think needing 500 loyalty points to see us play Crystal Palace means we are hurting our "future" fans.

For example, if i'd of not taken my 5 year old daughter and her cousin to at least 4 games last season (when she was four may I add) then she would never get a ticket for this season. There must be many of us that have kids that haven't yet hit the right age to go to a game, and will struggle in the future.

I took my nephew to his first game on Sunday. He’s no points, wasn’t even registered with the club. If fans wanted to they could and without a great deal of effort.

Separate point to the one JL made but I also know people without the 500 points who ordered via the website after Thursday and picked up tickets before the game.

But you buy a membership card. You could have bought a Palace ticket and you'll be able to buy a Blackburn ticket. Good chance Southampton tickets will go General Sale, one more game and you're there.

They ought to make the Blackburn game 300 points to boost the crowd while giving new fans a chance to hit the 500 mark easily.

One edit my earlier post ref the Nephew. I paid £15, so I didn’t need to make him a member either.

So my calculation means 350 points for new supporter to take in Membership, Palace and Blackburn. Add Southampton game which will probably be Cat B so 150 points and they are at 500 for the Liverpool game.

I bought the ticket on Thursday morning, before the club announced they were opening it up for general sale.
£15, no membership and he now has 100 points.

It seems the only sure way of getting a ticket for the big matches is to be a member as points alone don't guarantee one.
A new member with just 500 points will have first chance to get a ticket.
40 quid might sound a lot to have a good chance of a ticket but if you want one membership is the best way.
No idea how many members there are but if we have say 4000 tickets for sale and have 4000+ members then they wont reach a fan with thousands of points.
Not trying to sell it but being a member is the best way.

That's obviously not the case though.

The maximum number of people who have loyalty points will be way over 26,000. It's not the same people every week that make up the 26,000 is it.

Lets say the average attendance last season was about 26,177

21,000 of those might have been season tickets and the other 5177 each week will be made of some people who attended all the games or 10 games or 5 games or only 1 or 2 games. I bet the number of fans buying tickets last year will be well over 30,000 , and the same for the previous 2 seasons meaning that the potential pool is somewhere in the 30,000s

The issue will be how many are prepared to fork out £40 to have the right to get a ticket and the club has now painted itself into a corner with that decision.

It needs to make a change to the rules so that it's clear that when the points system is exhausted then people from an S11 post code can get a ticket or people with a previous buying history they can prove.

That way an 8 year old kid can drag his/her mum/dad down and start to build a customer record for the future.

I’ve just had a quick nosey and they have about 500 tickets left with nearly a month to go until the game, I’m adamant that they will sell out.

They brought a good enough following on a Tuesday night in the shitty league cup, they’re not bad travellers.
