Fair prices considering it's tricky to price it considering what league we are in.

Be interesting to see what pay on the gate is.

Here's the fan boards take on the £15 charge

So the charge is just a deterrent then.

Never had any difficulty giving my card to friends and family on the rare occasion I miss a game.

As I said earlier, it's just a tax on the technically less capable.

I'm a 100% techy person and still prefer paper copy or card. The fear of your phone not working when stood in front of the scanner outweighs any tech phobia so I can understand why some prefer physical media. The chances are low but having your phone smashed or damaged the morning of the match is probably another fear.

I agree with above though you should have it sent to your phone and be able to print it out on PC. It would cost the club next to nothing to do this. Save visiting the box office for a paper copy to.
I could live with the print at home option, which is what I do when I have no choice.

Think it probably plays into the club's thinking that from 26/27, in the Premier League at least, plastic cards aren't going to be an option so it's better to get everyone moved over now.

Interestingly, the South Stand price of a Senior and an Under 18 have both increased by £23 from last year (£345.50 & £132.50 up from £322.50 & £109.50).

Why almost 3 times percentage increase for a Junior over a Senior? Is there a strategy to discourage Juniors in the South Stand?

UTB & FTP!

Cards will still be around in 2026+ made out of bamboo or bees wax coated cloth.

All tickets have gone up by the same amount all over the ground as I understand it. Obviously if the ticket was cheaper in the first place you would notice £23 being added on more

Aside from maintaining the document scanning element of the readers of course?

Yeah not sure how they’ll manage that… surely better to say an earlier date then extend rather than try to reel it in.

I don’t know if they send emails anymore but I’ve not had any communication from the club about renewing. Only seen here and insta
They e mailed me.

If you have your ST on your phone and cant make it can you transfer it to anybody or do they have to be registered to the club and on your Friends and Family list

Can't complain at the increase tbh. 22 years in the same seat on South Stand, don't think I'll ever swap me ST seat 🤣

Unsure if to stick with the card though!

They have to be registered, you transfer to their customer number and they get a digital ticket for entry. Upgraded one of the kids ones for someone earlier this season

Renewed and keeping my card. Don't trust the antiquated IT systems at SUFC. Having to check with them about downloading issues just prior to games is an additional concern I don't need. No problem in paying for a new card although the replacement cost was previously £10 not £15, a 50% increase in price. Booking fees also increased by the same percentage.

If the card charge continues each year thereafter then it will confirm the suspicion its punitive and treats a proportion of the supporters as second class citizens.

As usual the clubs communication is vague on the matter. A system upgrade requiring new cards would be a welcome explanation but unlikely to be accurate meaning the old cards could be activated if they so wished. Just stating we'll let you know whats happening in the summer doesn't address concerns that new cards and downloads will be left to the last minute significantly increasing the work for the ticket office prior to the new season starting.

Providing detail to the Fans Advisory Board to reduce the plethora of enquiries that will ensue would assist but SUFC don't usually do pro active.

Prices are good value but it grates to see the Club haven't adopted our neighbours policy of having an additional under 11 category. Having the same price for a 3 year old as a 17 year old just doesn't sit right imo.
The card system will be the more antiquated of the two. Plus they are running two systems. The card one for less and less people.
The charge is a deterrent I'm sure. I bet there will be quite a big cost of keeping the card one going, and they want people on NFC.
They should give in-person help to people who can't install it for whatever reason though.

I can't afford to renew my season ticket therefore no chance to buy tickets match-by-match next season if we go up matchday prices will be over £50 I bet. so that's me priced out.
You can pay in installments

Thanks Foxy I have somebody that uses my daughters ticket (we have cards) every now and then when she cant make it so just give them the card. They are not registered with the club so would not be able to do that if we had this NFC ticket. How do you get a customer number when youve never bought a ticket and just used the spare ST when its available ?

It's hardly profiteering. How much do you reckon they're making out of it? Using price to disincentivise customers away from antiquated and more costly methods of entry is a completely legitimate approach to encourage further adoption of the preferred method.
If they're not making anything out of it, which seems a tad unlikely at £15 a pop for a small card using technology that's already in place, why are they charging anything more than a nominal fee, perhaps akin to a booking fee.
Does it cost United more if someone uses a card instead of a phone by the ticket reader?

Tried doing mine this morning 345 quid wouldn't go through, just tried again now 345.50 still won't go through q

Not with Paypal unless another way to pay be instalments.
Not an option for everyone I appreciate, but have you had a look at taking out a zero interest credit card you could put it on? Then you can determine when to pay it off within the zero interest period, rather than being limited to PayPals 3 instalments

This or give the child your phone (and use your watch for your own (if you have one)) :)

Either way, send the child through first, there's less panic that way round if you have an issue.

And if you have 2 kids ;-)

Yes. They have to maintain the service.

Can't see how maintaining the service costs any more than maintaining the same ticket readers for phone use.
Or why they've needed to issue new cards if the current ones still work.
As a general point a lot of older people don't have a lot of disposable income and charging £15 for a card on top of hundreds for a season ticket is shitty.
