There are other advantages for the club in having season tickets on phones, such as selling tickets back to the club. Lots of other clubs do this, so naturally we’ll follow suit.
I imagine that they like having the data about how many people are doing the forwarding of NFC passes on too, which they don't get when people just pass seaon ticket cards around. Also means that they know exactly who is sat in which seat which they want to have for safety and reporting.

Not quite sure what this caveat means - can anybody shed some light on it?

Renewal deadline: 5pm Friday 2nd May (or sooner if divisional status is confirmed)

£1.50 booking fee now??
The charts above say £344 SS Senior, I'm being asked for £345.50.

Renewed and keeping my card. Don't trust the antiquated IT systems at SUFC. Having to check with them about downloading issues just prior to games is an additional concern I don't need. No problem in paying for a new card although the replacement cost was previously £10 not £15, a 50% increase in price. Booking fees also increased by the same percentage.

If the card charge continues each year thereafter then it will confirm the suspicion its punitive and treats a proportion of the supporters as second class citizens.

As usual the clubs communication is vague on the matter. A system upgrade requiring new cards would be a welcome explanation but unlikely to be accurate meaning the old cards could be activated if they so wished. Just stating we'll let you know whats happening in the summer doesn't address concerns that new cards and downloads will be left to the last minute significantly increasing the work for the ticket office prior to the new season starting.

Providing detail to the Fans Advisory Board to reduce the plethora of enquiries that will ensue would assist but SUFC don't usually do pro active.

Prices are good value but it grates to see the Club haven't adopted our neighbours policy of having an additional under 11 category. Having the same price for a 3 year old as a 17 year old just doesn't sit right imo.

Antiquated? It's NFC, what are you expecting, retinal scanning? As for the rest of it all, while there's a point with kid's ticket prices it just sounds like moaning for the sake of it.

I was just trying to renew on line at £345.50 but the system froze after the proceed stage so I rang the ticket office and they completed the transaction….£344.00, so it costs more to do the work yourself than ringing and getting someone else to do it…..just doesn’t make sense

Didn't for us

£15 charge for cards. As a Luddite I don’t fancy it on my phone and am a little peeved about the charge. The robbing sods will get no more extra income from me,f**k the programme and the odd pie and pint.
Got to agree, some of us don't have fancy phones cos we can't afford one so club charges extra. Some of my mates done have mobiles so they are penalised. Fuck technology.......pay on gate I say. Come back old Fred on turnstile number 8, not sure I could climb over now haha

I've had absolutely no problems using my phone this season and it saves me remembering my card.

Yeah but knowing your luck you would be stuck behind me counting out 40 quid in 1 and 2p coins.

I’m guessing the cost is there as a deterrent.

The NFCs will be much easier and cheaper for the club rather than maintaining the old card system.
It should be against the law, just like charging extra for paying by card was outlawed, followed by charging extra for paying by credit card instead of a debit card was also outlawed.

It's just a tax on the least technically capable and on that basis it's clearly discriminatory.

It costs the club less than £2 to send out a new card by post, and nothing at all for activation of existing cards.

I'm a long way from happy with it.

Can you send a phone ticket to a friend's phone if you can't attend a match?
Yes, it's called ticket forwarding. Pretty easy to do, they just need to be on your friends and family list on your ticketing account. If you have a concession ticket and are upgrading to adult you do need to pay the difference though

Fair prices considering it's tricky to price it considering what league we are in.

Be interesting to see what pay on the gate is.

Here's the fan boards take on the £15 charge

...and it has to be at least 24 hours before I think, which does make it a slight pain tbh.

this is the question for those with adult & a junior. how does the NFT work on entry become i dont want to be scanning & then handing my phone back through the poles. what if there's a glitch & im in there not

Just get them to stand in front, you scan the phone and get them to push the turnstile. Then you go in. And the technology used in card & phone is exactly the same, if the card works, the phone will work.

This or give the child your phone (and use your watch for your own (if you have one)) :)

Either way, send the child through first, there's less panic that way round if you have an issue.

I’ve renewed. Great seats in the South Stand for me and the lad. £670

Going for those new fangled NFC passes next season. Used then for the Cardiff cup game and didn’t have any issue.

Why? I get that the club may want to charge the £15 for any new/replacement cards, but to force every existing cardholder to get a new card instead of just reactivating their current one stinks of profiteering.

Presumably there's a record kept on the system if you transfer a digital ticket to friends/family. Whereas if you have a card, you might give it to a Preston or Watford fan in the pub, who then runs amok in the home end meaning future points restrictions for us :D

It's hardly profiteering. How much do you reckon they're making out of it? Using price to disincentivise customers away from antiquated and more costly methods of entry is a completely legitimate approach to encourage further adoption of the preferred method.

Yes you have to assign it to a name when you do it - so there will be some form of safety guidlines its adhering to

Older tech is often costly and onerous to maintain, not just with the physical cards but back office systems as well, and eventually ends up being unsupported by the supplier.

They will be keen to get everybody on one system and using price to deincentivise. I know plenty with smartphones who got their cards reactivated last season just because they preferred having a card and would carry on with the card til the option is removed.

What would be a half decent compromise would be to allow people to print individual match tickets at home if they don’t have a smart phone.

I'm a 100% techy person and still prefer paper copy or card. The fear of your phone not working when stood in front of the scanner outweighs any tech phobia so I can understand why some prefer physical media. The chances are low but having your phone smashed or damaged the morning of the match is probably another fear.

I agree with above though you should have it sent to your phone and be able to print it out on PC. It would cost the club next to nothing to do this. Save visiting the box office for a paper copy to.
