Was sat having a pub breakfast (or brunch as the posh two hats call it) as the shirt was released....

Listen l, i'm not going to beat about the bush....I'm staying true to me and saying it how it is, whether liked or not. I'm not here for a thumbs up or like, i'm here because i love my club... our club.

First impressions... fucking hell it's that turkish shite that the fat bloke off norfolk park was wearing on here...

Then my eyes tuned in......

Listen..... it's alright is that kit, in my own opinion. I'm old fashioned and i like tradition, but it's been thoughtfully put together i feel and it isn't offensive in the slightest. I get vibes of petr kachuro and a later dane whitehouse in that wards number. I don't lislike those thoughts in the slightest and i feel the overall quality is better.

I'm going to buy it.... hope the addition of a sponsor doesn't ruin it as it's always a risk.

Re: The ITK's.... you all look a bit silly tonight don't you, i guess you will steer clear and all that. Hey ho.....
Great read

If you're buying off DH Gate then you're wasting your money. I bought the home & away from our first Prem season last time round and they stand out a mile from the real thing.

Funny that

I had Emmerdale with a mash up of The Magic Roundabout

Time for bed - Mr Wilkes
True story, I once had lunch with the actor who played Amos Briely. Went to a bar in Majorca for lunch with Mrs Jelly and Jellybean number 1 and he was sat there on his own with a small drink. We sat down and gave him his privacy but he heard us saying we were having same again from menu (jacket spud with tuna and crawl slaw with a feta salad). He asked if food was good and we confirmed it was what it was and it was ok. He sat on table beside us and ordered same. Nice guy, posher voice than I expected.

I've bought one. We'll have to see. As I've said, I'm not paying north of £50 for Errea gear.

Don’t want to add to the pissy pants vibe of this thread but that badge is going to be the bane of the club shop staffs lives be so many people who washed them at 30/40 degrees stood at the counter with a badgless shirt in their hands in the club shop pleading that they only hand washed it

I remember that one and the HFS Loans after it. Great thick stiff mousemat-looking things hot-glued onto the shirt, making it more or less impossible to wash. And kids these days moan about Errea quality!
I’ve still got my orange one, signed by Brian Deane. I’m not sure it ever fit in the first place, but that’s all good because it’s a piece of tat whose only value is in the autograph that sits on the front ;)

I’ve slept on it , not the kit obviously! I think it’s really smart . The quality for the close ups looks really good so I am in the yes camp ! Tend not to buy the home shirt usually get the away but the keepers shirt looks great as did last years maroon one . I’m definitely in the minority but I really like Errea and I’ve been lucky with the quality as I’ve had no issues!
As ever UTB !

It just needed the collar from the original shirt. That would be my only criticism of it.

I think design wise Errea are knocking out decent kits for us so far BUT as others say the production quality is a bit crap.

Also depriving the club of cash to help run the club...

Let’s be fair - if you’re going to be asking people to shell out 60/70 quid a shirt for a brand with poor QC / inconsistent production . You can’t be surprised when people turn to cheaper alternatives especially during the current economic climate.

No shade on anyone that can’t afford the ‘real thing’.

Also it’s not really that big of a deal in the scheme of things. I’d be surprised if we made more than 150k/200k (or like 0.01% of our total PL revenue) in total on all shirt sales. So it’s not really a massive money spinner all things considered. It’s Less than a months salary for most PL players.

I really like it and can't believe how close it is to the 1997/1999 shirt it is based on. Normally when modern footy shirts are supposed to be based on an historical one I tend to find they're not usually as close to let's say 90% of the inspired original but in our case this one is!

The remaining 10% where this differs to the original is obviously the collar plus the lack of that white pinstripe across the shoulders and down the sleeves. Personally I'd rather the pinstripe was also on this but maybe a quarter or double the width of what was on the original, it'd look a lot better especially as the shoulders, sleeves and sides is all solid red so it would just break that up nicely somewhat.

Sleeves will be broken up with the addition of a sleeve sponsor and PL badge!

Bit meh. But not horrible.

Main criticism is that it looks like a red shirt with two blocks of white on it, rather than red and white stripes. But it could have been a whole load worse. It also could have been a whole lot better, but hey.
The abortions Southampton are wearing are a horror show lurking at the back of my mind. As is the fact that Bradford City are playing in hoops this season. Stripes to Donny Rovers mk2 anyone...?...No..?..Oh..

I mean, with Wes' home keeper kit being white. I wouldn't be against a neon away number...

Wasn't there an article from a few months ago saying one of the kits was to do with Sheffield's industrial past?

Aye
Motorway maintenance !

Recall PA announcer @ Smoggies (Ayresome Park) making that quip about proliferation of (‘original’ / Umbro / Laver) luminous jerseys
1990? - got gubbed 6-? ? pissing down & still got chased half way round town !

The overall kit looks well from the stands. Its very much a United kit. Stripes on the back make it.

The "Wards" mock up above shows how an iconic sponsor can elevate a shit to classic status. As it stands, something nondescript and forgettable will detract from it. Shame we don't have a decent sponsor for a good few seasons to become iconic anymore.

What doesn't get much of a mention, is that the socks and shorts have black, red and white, on them. It should be a given but it was not the case with the adidas standard issue stuff, who could only offer us 2 of the 3 colours. The blades logo on the socks is also a nice touch.

What Laver & Wards have in common, aside from being "local legends" is the fact they had decent visually appealing logos. I dont really care what the product is as long as they have a nice logo. Extra marks if it's yellow & black.
