"Tongues were sent wagging online when an image emerged of a counterfeit Blades shirt in Turkey, purporting to be the new 2023/24 season shirt. The Star understands that the design, featuring grey stripes inside the white sections of the shirt, is wide of the mark, and was created based on a concept kit posted on Instagram by CyKit Designs back in April."

They have first refusal, but at an inflated price to reflect our Premier League status. Ball's in their court, I assume.

Should run another year and put the price up, they made multi millions out of the government
Yep, hoping a non-dodgy company sponsor us more.

I've said before, in a non-dramatic way, I'm not going to buy a shirt with Randox being advertised. So I'm hoping it changes.

mad that, sure i've heard that somewhere already

Northern lights kit. I can get on with that.

Have our club said owt yet? Are we still shrouded in pointless secrecy?

It’s been reported it’s going to be the start of July - what exactly do you want them to say. Wait two weeks and you’ll find out

"Here it is, your new kit! Available early July at £x"

There's zero reason they cannot release an image. And don't give me no sponsor bollocks either. None of them have sponsors on.

It’s ALMOST, ALMOST like the people involved with experience in adverting and brand launches believe that a coordinated campaign with well designed accompanying videos / marketing is a better way to launch a kit and generate interest and sales.

Rather than releasing a shit picture because ainsley Harriott on s24su is incapable of waiting 2 weeks.

Ah right, I see. So all the other teams that have released their shirt, some of which don't have players modelling them anyway, are shit because they haven't done a coordinated kit launch?

There is zero reason for United to not model the shirt prior to it's release. None. It generates interest regardless of whether they release it 2 weeks prior or on the day.

I'm not interested in waiting 2 weeks anyway, it's not the point. The point is that the club have released fuck all apart from "it's a nod to a kit from the 90s". May as well say fuck all.

And why can't they do a coordinated campaign before it's in the shops? As I say, they may as well say fuck all.

Fantastic stuff

Meanwhile:

June 22 – Premier League Aston Villa have agreed a three-year shirt front with controversial betting brand BK8. The club has also secured a sleeve sponsorship with online trading platform Trade Nation.

The deal with BK8 comes at a time when Premier League clubs have volunteered to opt out of selling shirt front sponsorship to betting firms. The Villa deal for the front of all three kits will run until the end of the 2025/26 season.

Villa’s previous front of shirt sponsor, Cazoo, was paying £6 million per season. BK8 is estimated to be paying closer to £8 million.

To sweeten the deal and in an attempt to dial down criticism of the sponsorship, BK8 will make an unspecified contribution per adult third shirt sold, to a local charity in Birmingham. Both the club and BK8 have gone hard on promoting the charitable element of the deal.

The charitable endeavours by BK8 come after a controversial start in the football sponsorship arena. In June 2021 Norwich City fans objected BK8’s shirt sponsorship deal, forcing the club to drop its £5 million one year agreement just five days after announcing the record deal. Fans discovered an Instagram channel promoting services to Malaysian customers that promoted ‘sexy baccarat’ and suggestive images of hot dog swallowing contests.
