I've voted top 2, don't really care what position. We can break our play off hoodoo in the Championship, I can't face another league 1 play off attempt.

The prediction is more hope than expectation. Last season we were a consistent goal scorer and 2 decent centre halves away from being a contender. NA has signed a potential fix for the goals problem but Collins was poor last year when he did play and his partner will either be a kid or one of our utility / backup players.

Bradford may end up challenging for the top 6 at least.

They signed Paul Anderson yesterday from Ipswich. Have him crossing for Hanson and Davies, and there's goals there straight away.

75% expect Automatic Promotion, no pressure Nigel:confused:

Watch for Scunthorpe, Walsall, Donny, Rochdale and Bradford; maybe Fleetwood and Barnsley.

Don't fancy any of the three who came down. Blackpool all over the shop. Wigan and Millwall have two inexperienced managers and no momentum.

More concerned about the four who came up in fact.

Mr Adkins has added to the pressure by publicly stating that him and his team have what it needs to get promotion and that they have done it before !
He has taken over a squad that finished fifth last season and put his touch on it by adding Sharp Sammon and Woolford and restoring the dinosoar Collins why wouldn't they get promotion ?
Yes Mr Adkins, people expect Please deliver - That's what you're paid for !!!

If we don't get automatic promotion then I'm afraid we will have failed and Mr Adkins and his team should be picking up their P45's - just as Mr Clough and his team did in May
Automatic promotion is expected by everyone !
Don't forget we now have Billy Sharp !

You have a point , but nobody will be more disapointed than Adkins and his staff if we dont get promotion. The Clough reign at the lane was bizzare , and appeared there was no method in his madness. Adkins his now the benchmark .

We have a top of the drawer manager for whatever league we are in , and have to stick with what we have got . We cannot afford in football and financial terms , to keep on sacking managers .

Adkins and Sharp may well be the cataylist to bring the good times back at the lane . For starters , the positive we will see is organised , attacking football . This will get bums on seats , and bums off them with the chances and goals we score . Next stop is to prevent them going in at the otrher end.

More concerned about our back four , than any other team in the league.

Glad you said Back 4 actually, the full backs are no better at defending than the old men in the middle who at least know what they used to do even if they can't do it all the time these days.

We should all relax about defending. We have very strong midfielders and strikers ( shame about Done though) There will be such spirit and competition for places that we will have enough men and enough quality to swarm teams and overwhelm them going forward. The defence will be lighting cigars at the back, indeed getting in on the scoring act in their spare time.:D:D:D;)

Of course we will be susceptible to counter attacks but that will add to the excitement.

Under Adkins the shackles are off.

As long were top 4 this season which is minimum I expect & play football like we did in 2011/12 season (well up until April when the wheels came off) id be happy to give Adkins 2nd season because we will never be successful with manager a season

If we can score two or more goals every match we will win far more than we lose, even with our defense ...

if wigan win this league I will run naked across greater manchester

stop elevating their chances

the 3 that came down the previous year were all better but didnt make the play offs again showing this league is not a cake walk some see it as

I have us down as second due to our history of going up , always as bridesmaids , but if our lucks in will be top

I think people are elevating us too much because lets not forget as someone said to me we are a established league 1 club this is our 5th season in league 1 our defence was nowhere near good enough last season & theres been no defenders incomings

Wigan have got parachute payments, biggest budget in the league got good players like grigg & as i said 3rd or 4th seems realistic because I think there are about 6 other teams capable of promotion Wigan Millwall Peterborough Barnsley Us Doncaster Bradford

I have been holding off with any prediction to see the personnel that we start with, well it don't look like we will be starting with any new defenders so I have to go for a slight improvement on last season and say third place for us. The attacking options are much better than last season and if we attack teams rather than play not to lose a lot of last seasons draws will be wins. The big question is will being more positive and scoring more goals be enough for a top two place ? I doubt it when I look at the state of our back four, it really is uninspiring one old past his best CB and not much else other than players to fill in which is in no way good enough for a promotion team, the way I see it if we don't get at least two CB's we will miss out again and that is unthinkable.
p.s if we do get two decent CB's in we will piss this league we just can't wait until January for them.

Realistically, we have signed three: one that couldn't get a regular game at Leeds, one that couldn't get a regular place at Derby and one that was released by Millwall who were relegated into L1.
From last season we have lost our top defender to injury for the first half of the season, our regular left back is injured and we have two donkeys at Centre Back - Calamity Collins and Makeshift McEverley
Our most effective attacker has broken his collar bone and Flynn and JCR realistically our two wide right men are injured !
Probably the most positive aspect of the Blades is Che Adams - And whose to say he will be still with us by the end of August !!!
Yet people on here are wetting themselves with excitement at the prospect of the new season !
Mr Adkins last gig was at Reading who fired him !

relegation then? Or what position do you see us finishing?

Certainly not relegation ! Since writing that we have signed Edgar and sold Murphy !
It now depends on how and if Mr Adkins spends the Murphy money !
Last season we finished in the play off positions - certainly no worse than last year and with three decent signings and Brayford & Done coming back to full fitness perhaps even better !!!

So we currently sit joint 6th. I know it's only a small number of games into the season but we're in a position 99.2% of us aren't expecting us to finish in.

Let's hope things can improve and we can live up to those expectations.
