Thanks for the correction. blade too long made me feel ancient. You just make me feel old.20 years ago, I think...
already been thereJohn Street stand. Built in the reign of Mike MacDonald (and Charles Green). I think it was 20 years not 30 years ago.
It slips quite a lot, doesn't it??...
no more than most, yours got stuck on the question markIt slips quite a lot, doesn't it??...

Opened October 1996 for a home game against Tranmere Rovers.
From personal recollection, the two years between 1994 and 1996 when the Lane was a 3 sided ground, matchday at the Lane was a horrible, miserable experience every home game, as the expanse of wasteland on John Street was a visual reminder of the maliase the club found itself in, it was usually freezing cold on the kop as wind bit in from the empty side, and the atmosphere was not shite.
I have no children.
I tried to see the bright side at the time, reasoning that it was like a trip down memory lane to before the South Stand got built. But it was really just a trip down shit stadium lane.
I remember away days to places like Fratton Park, Vale Park and Ayresome Park and being genuinely jealous because they had a 4 sided ground.
They moved the tv gantry to the John street sideI also seem to recall that during our TV appearances there was some pretty creative camera work to keep the houses on John Street out of shot.
I don't think we can, something to do with the light requirements for the houses on John Street.I always felt the club were never ambitious enough with the new JSS (I'd also argue the same with the South Stand). For me at the very least they should have taken the back of the stand right to the edge of the road and had the entrances (on the outside) covered, stand seats should have gone all way to the back of the stand, with the two layers of boxes directly above the back rows (rather than behind as they are now). That would have made room for an extra 6 to 10 rows, or 1.5-2.5k seats.

It was Kevin McCabe.OK, who had the banner made, and unravelled it saying something along the lines of "Thanks Mike for our new stand". Own up! Own up now!
It was Kevin McCabe.
Oh, thought it was a joke, didn't realise MacDonald had actually had a banner made with 'thanks Mike' on it.Sorry mate it was Mike MacDonald. Remember it like yesterday.
