No, I was sat next to the radio crying on the day after my 12th Birthday. Similar Birthday disappointments would follow against Wolves, Burnley and Huddersfield.

Thanks for that Lawrence. Sat bang behind Hopkin when he let fly. It was in the moment it left his foot. Time almost stopped as it headed for the top corner, I can see it now. Cheers, mate!

Me too - might have been next to you !

Half way line - lower tier (crap benches!) near to where the upper tier started - and yes, as soon as it left his foot.

Now that was one of the first "sad drives home" in the big games we played............you do realise that CW is going to break out PO duck :)

Forgotten how nice a day it was - weather wise, very much like today. For me, its still the worst of the play off defeats because I was only 16 and you take it harder at that age than now, 7 defeats later! Also the obvious manner of the last minute goal. Still, as I missed the semi final against Wednesday I can at least say I went to the old Wembley!

I was in the corner, Fulwood. Pretty much a straight line between me, Hopkin and Simon Tracey.

Second "sad drive" for me (after 1993!) and I've experienced them all since!

Hope you're right about CW:)

Since the Palace memories are mixed at best, lets remind ourselves of the more recent play off events!

Oh that feels better!

Yep, me too - I am sure we were the first back in Sheffield - I was so cross, drove a tad too fast.

If only I knew there were many, many more of those drives..............ahh well, to the future.

Lawrence yep, drank in the torch, wore my white away shirt ( i think) and sat next to the tunnel - Burnt my face and came home pissed off... Sounds like Burnley 2009...

Its no wonder i didn't go to Wembley for Huddersfield

David Hopkins, you toothless twat,I was supremely confident pre game with Kendall at the helm, then I got inside Wembley and saw the colour of the shirt he was wearing,I just knew then it wasn't going to be our day

Must have sat near me and my mate as we had the same view!

What could go wrong did go wrong that day.

Even had two knobheads behind me who must have won the tickets or something as they weren't Blades and had no interest in the match

I can barely remember the first half. Got to the Green Man at 11am and left 20 mins before kick off. It wasn't until we began walking to Wembley that I realised just how pissed I was!

We were at the Torch, as some of the last to leave we saw what was left - a carpark and beer garden about 2 inches deep in crushed cans. One of the lads went in at this point to use the lavs and said to the landlord "Must have been a good day for you" his reply was "Only taken about £200 you've all been supping from the off licences"

I was working in France, gutted when I found out it was a last minute goal by I never score Hopkins :(

Great footage.

Not spied us, we were in the Olympic Gallery for this one.

We were in a bar in Ibiza. Full of Blades making lots of noise until that goal went in. We all filed out in disbelief.

Enjoyed drinking in one of the bars under the stand pre match. Seem to remember it was an awful game. The silence on the walk back to the tube couldn't have been bettered by a Trappist monastery

In fairness, even now i remember how shit the bar staff were in there, my mate went to the off licence and brought back a bag of cans and was half way through them by the time i bought the two pints out!

Horrible day... loads of shit and no beer, made worse by our kid wanting to see the final whistle blow, ,mearning we missed the early train...

Wankers...he shouted...... today it was worth it..back then..mmmm
