1 to go straight into the team to influence a game of football in the final 2 thirds of a pitch

1 as cover or to change how we approach games that aren't going as expected.

It's not Caruthers in any way shape of form.

We presently have no options at all, and some of us weren't fooled by the Sunderland result.

It's all about the TEAM.........what is best for the team NOW to get us in the 3rd to 6th positions - we simply don't have it any more.

I've defended Carruthers but somebody needs to take his minutes. They don't have to be great. Sometimes replacing incompetence with competence gives you a bigger improvement than buying world beaters

We need a wide player who can play at wing back. Someone who can come on and change a game going forward, with electric pace but also able to play at wing back due to our injury problems back there. Fed up of seeing Basham there.

Any good winger with defensive discipline should be able to do the job. We need options is 5-3-2 isn’t working.

1 to go straight in the team? Who are we dropping out of Lundstram, Fleck and Duffy? Cause none of them should be

Fleck and Duffy are certain starters, and Lunny is getting better with every game, not the scapegoat you all make him out to be

We do need at least 1 as cover/ for rotation, but i doubt we’ll be getting anyone in who’s that superior to those 3 that they’ll be straight in the side

I’d drop Lunny. Just not convinced he is the answer.

You may get your wish, hopefully Leonard and Carey would provide the boost that i think we need, replacements for the injured Coutts and the ineffective Carruthers are an absolute priority.

If today was a sign of Lundstram getting better, he obviously started from a position of zero on a scale of how to play professional football. Last two games he was adequate. It was an improvement and I began to have some faith in him. Today he showed us that he was afraid to receive the ball and turn which is a necessity in our midfield because it is all about speed of conversion and today he also hid during that game.

Get real. If we have ambition we can't be charitable or sympathetic or looking out for the poor scapegoated underdog. We cant be waiting for someone to get better. Get someone in to perform and hit the ground running from January.

Everyone was shit but he’s been one of our top performers since Coutts got injured, don’t really understand what some people are watching to hate him so much

I’d agree with that Fulwood.

To be fair David Brooks is different to our other players and provides a great option.

When he’s fit (hopefully soon) we should see a definite improvement in our fortunes.

Would be nice to see some reinforcements.

But only loans.

Just don’t see us being able to spend enough to bring in the quality to replace Coutts and Fleck longer term.

There are other vastly more important areas of the pitch that require a more immediate attention.

I see there’s still no grey area between brilliant and shit in S2. We were comfortably the better team but score line opinion dictates we were shit and we cap-doff fucking Bolton.

We need at least 1 player who can compete with the 3 starters at the moment and hopefully better than what we have now (Adam Clayton top of my list). We really need some game changes and a stronger bench. Ideally up top we need someone who can do something different to what we have, skill, pace can pull wide and another number 10 who can get into the box and provide us with another goal threat. Someone wide who can turn our wing backs into wingers when needed.

Comfortable isn't a word I would use to describe Saturday's performance, in fact we looked decidedly uncomfortable in possession especially in the first half. Bolton got in our faces and made us look edgy and sloppy. Apart from Baldock's shot and Duffy putting Clarke through one on one I can't recall too many genuine chances either. Second half was better, we had all the possession and looked more in control but then lacked any kind of quality in the final ball.

We weren't shit, but we weren't great either, based on the very high standards that the manager and team have now set themselves.

I agree. Perhaps I should have omitted “comfortably” but we were the better team without being great as you say. We didn’t do enough to overcome their committed but grotesque anti-football on the day but let the whole season settle the matter, eh? It will, decidedly in favour of football.

I’m afraid for the significant number of numpties amongst us there’s only great or shit. They really haven’t a clue.

Some will always over react. I was annoyed on Saturday but over the whole piece there is no debate to be had, we are still one of the best teams in the division when all of the moving parts are working properly. Seeing a team like Bolton disrupt that is to their credit but very frustrating, especially when 'he' had to be the one who scored. They might barely escape relegation, maybe not. Either way we shouldn't be worrying too much about them much in the future. Let's just hope they can do a similar job [again] on the S6 mob.

Individually he has played well, but the team as a whole has not. We need a player in there that is conducive to good team performances.

I like Lundstram, but we struggle to win with him in the team.

With the problems being due to something that will go away next season this is the sort of thing that is tailor made to get someone in on loan from the division above, paying a chunk of wages if necessary

Don't hate him. The team as a whole was just misfiring. However the comment is said in the context of 2 x midfielders as the OP said. I don't claim to be an expert like Pinchy or to have the ear of the Tufty as he does, but I think I know what he wanted in Leonard which was a ready made player who would slot in. My opinion is that Lundstram was signed when we couldn't get Leonard. For various reasons, none of which are Lundtram's fault he has had to learn on the job, but he has shown (IMHO) the limitations I pointed out. I have said elsewhere that I think he will be an asset but in a different style of play. I think maybe I should be directing my annoyance at the SUFC Board or the transfer "negotiator" who failed to get Leonard.
