Robinson had a fair crack compared to L Freeman

True, compared to Freeman, he did, but he didn't appear that much for us.

As much as I love CW and AK and that era, that journey from mid place League One, to 9th in the Premier League, which was fantastic, I still scratch my head when I look at some of the signings. Luke Freeman probably typifies it, is he a "bad egg" to have in the squad?, I don't know.

What I do know (we all know), is that Sheffield United don't have (and never really have had) a great deal of money to throw around, on players who don't even make the bench.

It's just so Sheffield United to take two years of eye watering PL money and piss it all away to leave us in a worse state than before

Slavs not daft. Surely he can see some of the stand out players in this league.

Riis Jacobsen (Preston)
DJed Spence (Boro)

Outsider maybe but I thought the the Blackpool defender Ekpiteta looked decent and athletic.

Getting them through the door might be a different matter.

Can someone please explain to me how we've got no money relative to the rest of the division? We've just spent two years in the Premier league whilst keeping the wage bill down, and sold our keeper for £23m. Surely we can still outspend everyone else?

I don’t remember whose expression it is, but “Club Retard” always made me smile. As did WTTWY. Wonder if that one is due a come back as well?

What we call dross is someone else's treasure. We are no different to most clubs who have players fans dislike.
But some players change at different clubs. Norwood for instance staŕs well at most clubs he's been at.
They are not all crap they are square pegs in round holes here. It's the same with most clubs. Calvert Lewin couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo with us
I take your point, so here's hoping some other clubs take a punt, so we can do likewise.

You say ''Calvert Lewin couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo with us'' which is unfair, he didn't play much for us and had a good pre-season prior to leaving and a good loan spell earlier too.

Crikey!
That's a long term youth policy. Can we afford to wait that long?
It's what I would call "skin in the game," Slav. That's for sure.
Presume we will be advertising for surrogates?

Covid losses, every team had. And most of them to a much larger extent as they weren't in the Premier League.

Already spent parachute payments on what? The rest of the division don't even have parachute payments!

Payout for the lane? Is that not just standard for a new owner to have to pay? Or did the Prince expect the entire thing for £1?

I don't know what Wilder got paid but I'm pretty sure won't have affected the budget by any significant amount.

We kept the wage bill to an absolute minimum while up there, what was the point of that? It was covered by about £250m of TV income anyway.

Obviously we have very little money, that seems clear. But we should still have more than most of the Championship, so what difference does it make in terms of competing?

We already borrowed against the Parachute Payments to buy Brewster. Any Parachute money coming in goes towards paying off that loan. That, coupled with spectacular drop in value for McBurnie, Brewter and Berge has put us in a real hole.

No, the Lane thing is not standard - if you remember, McCabe had separated Bramall Lane and other facilities from the club's assets. When Prince Abdullah took ownership of the club, he needed to buy the Lane separately, and I think he used United's money to do it, although don't quote me on that bit.

Basically, the money has already been spent or earmarked, and a lot of it is tied up in rapidly devaluing players.

Are we sure we've already borrowed against the parachutes?
I've heard it before and it does sound about right for the Prince but is that official?

I'll be totally honest and say I don't know for sure, I just heard it from people who serm to know what they're talking about...

I had to be honest.
That just doubles the pressure on that signing if its true.

But it's all money that the rest of the division didn't have anyway, and it comes nowhere close to the TV income from the Premier League.

I'm not saying we're not skint. I know we are, we always have been and always will be. Pretty much every club is. My point is how can we be in a position that we can't compete with the rest of the teams in this division?

We must still have more spending power and be more of an attractive prospect for players, than pretty much all the other teams. Couple that with the fact we already have a better squad than most of the division, and I fail to see how we're now dismissed as a club that can't compete all of a sudden.

Again I don't know for certain, but my understanding is that while we had money the other clubs didn't, we simply spent it all.

Other clubs in the Championship might not have had the TV revenue we did over the last couple of seasons, but on the flip side very few of them will have three £20m + players clogging up the sub's bench or the treatment room like we have. Like it or not we no longer have any significant financial advantage over the bulk of the league. Far too much money is tied up in flop signings whose value has since plummeted.

midfielder winger and another striker needed in january and hopefully a couple out on loan

A better squad than most of the division? Really?

We don't, in reality, have a better squad than most of the division. Don't let reputations based on past performances, or big price tags fool you. This is not a good bunch.

He did use utds money, the figure I saw was 37 million, that should have been our transfer budget

Which of the signings have made us better so far ?? Hourhaine flattered to deceive , Olsen wow if that were Ramsdale there would be a price on his head by now!! Davies brings more to the table than Bash?? MGW one good game in 3/4 but wow has the kid got an attitude probably why he’s out on loan

Whats MGW's attitude problem?

I actually believe we dont need 2 wingers, if we did and they both coming into our starting 11, where does gibbs-white play?. I think 2 defenders and DM are more important

No 10 behind a lone striker.

I can see maybe the need for a left sided attacker/winger but defo agree we need more centre defensive mids
