There is elsewhere mate. On twatter some guy saying we're going for one from a promotion rival and one we'll be very happy about...fingers crossed...
Could the promotion rival be the Rovers and Matty Taylor now that would be a step toward promotion.

Sunjihi how did we get around the compo issue with Lavery and the pigs? Or have we had to pay the filthy swines?

You only have to pay compo if a player under 24 is offered a contract from his former club but chooses to move to another, such as when we signed McGahey.

If a player is a free agent having already left his former club (which I believe Lavery did in the summer?), then he's fair game. We don't have to pay the oinkers a penny, under 24 or not.

It's going to be hell with the pigs if we don't go up.

"They even bought all our cast offs and still couldn't get up" will be a line in the Hitler video no doubt.

If we do sign Lavery and Grant, lets hope those 2 and Clarke are just as influential as Geary, Bromby and Quinn were to the '06 promotion.

No not particularly, I'm not comfortable with him as a first team player. I agree we need a CM and GK but we need a partner for O'Connell far more than we need another winger. We've just brought in Chapman.

The Chapman signing gives us just 2 out and out wingers, we can't rely on that, plus he is 18 so we can't rely on him to play 2/3 times a week. Evidence from Saturday proves we need another winger, Done doesn't cut it.

How about all of them in quick succession? I think the main CB [who we haven't yet got] and will be a leader] is an absolute essential. we already have the winger, of course in Harry Chapman. what you might well get next is Lavery who can play wide or second striker.

Don't get me wrong I want us to sign another CB, we lost out on our 'main' CB so we can assume CW still wants another CB too. But I think from the games we've played so far, we should prioritise other positions first.

I was talking to a pig fan last night about lavery, he rates him highly and said he would do a great job at the lane. He was actually gutted the move would come off, which is a bonus. :D

Jack Baldwin does look like the most likely shout given the info,
Not avin a go R but dint Sunjihi say 2 and he gave them names Morsy and Grant. Where from that info do we get Baldwin, Matty Taylor and Lavetry?

Sounds like the Lavvy rumour has some foundation tho

Lavery could be a decent signing for us.

A Wednesday mate of mine really rates Lavery and had the tuna man not taken over he would have probably stayed at Wednesday. He has pace and can play out wide on the left or as a striker. Although expect him to be the typical left sided player if we do play him there, as he does not do any tracking back at all.

if this deal is happening then I assume we will have to pay Wednesday something.

If nothing comes of the LM rumours then as an option I'd play Hussey there and bring a new LB in. Now, I know this could be seen as a square peg in round hole scenario but I personally think Hussey would be better deployed there because he is not very good at defending and could whip better balls into the box if he wasn't so knackered from running up and down from the LB spot all the time, either that or get fitter and get better at defending.

If they offered him a contract and he turned it down, we would have to pay a fee.

Blade56,

At 4.30ish Sunjihi yesterday starts a post saying Lee Grant has signed.
This sounds conclusive to me.

The later that day at 7pmish Sunjihi starts a thread saying 2 more
Stating Morsy and Lavery set to sign early this week.
I always take the "set to sign" ststements with a picch of salt because there's a always the chance of last
minute hiccups with counter bids from other clubs.

So that's 3 imminent signings in total not 2.

So, 2 more players to come.
Where do they fit into the plan, or are they coming to strengthen the squad?

For me, it's a clear first 11 we need. 11 players who set the boundaries of what is expected and then the rest have to raise themselves to get in the side.

Problem we have at the moment is seemingly the same as we have had for a while. We have a majority of players of similar ability, nobody standing out head and shoulders above the rest. We need these types to pull the others up to raise their game.
Brayford did it when he first arrived, and for whatever reason he's currently way below the standards we expect of him. Fitness possibly.....not sure. But if he's not going to be the one to do it we need someone else to lift them.

"Leaders" is what I hear from some, and I tend to agree. A leader not necessarily the loudest, the strongest and not even captain material, but a player who will lead by example, who raises his game and makes a mark on every match.
If the "two more" suggested are Morsy and Lavery, we need to hope they will make the difference.
Wilder states that he rates Done and McNulty, yet neither have been played to their strengths, while Scougall isn't in my opinion the impact bench player Wilder seems to think he is.

So far we saw an unlucky defeat against Bolton and then again against Crewe where in both games we created plenty of moments and scoring chances but failed to capitalise. Against Rochdale, we seemed to see a return to players passing the buck, being scared to go for it and not taking a risk. Is confidence heading down already?

As it stands, we are at a point close to where we will have a squad. Numbers at the maximum wanted by the manager. Granted a good half dozen he wants rid of, but like the past 2 managers he's stuck with them. So we either be patient and wait for them to be on the way, or we make the errors we did with Clough in bringing in more players regardless.
It's important we as fans stick with them. Be patient and wait for these players to settle. So if we do have 2 more, please let's not analyse them after 2,5 even 10 games! Let's give them time to find their feet, settle into what the manager wants.

Thx Mrs Marple for the forensics ;) but I was eluding to the "then we" as a collective forum start discussing two others and Balwin, Lavetry and Taylor joined the snowballing fray.

That's all :)

That's an interesting rule. Does the contract offer have to meet any plausibility rule? It strikes me that every club could offer an unwanted player a peppercorn salary just to ensure they retain the right to a fee.
Lavery will be 24 in two months time. I believe Wendy will agree on a nominal fee rather than having to go through a tribunal or will be without a fee if a club signs him after his 24th birthday
