Is 2009 payback time for 1994 and 2007?

How refreshing it would be for things to go the Blades way.

It would be a miracle,
I just cant see it happening, we just have to put up wuth the curse of pulling the cricket pavillion down.

Part of me wants to go up automatic but a bigger part of me (oo er missus) wants to win the play-off final. I've seen the Blades go up twice automatic to the top tier but after countless semi final defeats and the 2 play-off final defeats I want the euphoria of winning that elusive "big game". The feeling of not wanting to leave the ground on the final whistle and buzzing my tits off would be awesome. I wouldn't need alcohol. But then I would be thinking "can't wait to get back home and get major-league, liver crippling pissed with a 2 day hangover".

Winning the play-off final is definitely THE way to go up. Personally I can't wait to do it.

Come on you red and white wizaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaards!

I would prefer automatic to put my mind at rest! I can't deal with another Play Off disappointment!

I agree with the above regarding the euphoria of winning the play off final - it would be unbelievable but i'd personally prefer automatic. COME ON PRESTON!!! (and Southampton!) I would prefer PNE to make the play offs than Burnley, what sh*t hole ground that was!

I'd much prefer automatic than through the play-offs. The sheer heartache of two final defeats still pisses me off. We never looked like scoring against Palace in 97, and the way we let Wolves win in 03 was ridiculous. Like a big dog that is really vicious towards all family members but then when the burglars come rolls over and lets them tickle its tummy.

Thing is though, nobody looked like scoring in the Palace match. Even allowing for tension, it was one of the drabbest of drab 0-0 draws ever ...... well, nearly ......

Worries me that we're in the same position as Leeds in our promotion season. Blew it with a couple of games to go - went to the play offs - got to the final - got hammered - sank without trace. Anyone remember the name of their manager at the time?? Anyone believe in omens??

Funnily enough, I was saying this before the Burnley match started :(

If we don't go up it's not hard to imagine that at least 3 of 5 from Kenny, Morgan, Kilgallon, Naughton and Naysmith will go to clubs who can offer Premier League football next season. Halford will almost certainly not be here if we're still in the Championship. With all the other loans returning to their clubs and the older players who may retire we'd be looking at rebuilding half the team. Quite a daunting prospect.

On the flip side, I think if we do go up and manage to hang on to our best players (and sign Halford) and we sign a couple of the better players from the championship we'd have a real chance of staying up.

In all honesty, I think we'd need to sign at least 8 better players if we go up. Unfortunately, Blackwell wouldn't be able to attract some higher profile players, and that worries me.
