Tuesday night's match thread... and let's hope it's more of the same from the Blades.

If we have another decent performance like yesterday we should win, but Leicester will be a tougher test than Watford so it'll be interesting to see how we go.

Can see Blackwell making one or two changes for this game, Ward looked knackered in the second half yesterday so I think Cotterill might start instead with Ward coming off the bench.

Ward looked knackered in the second half yesterday

I don't know if he picked up a knock... he came across to the bench to talk to everyone before a sub was readied.

I'd like to see Reid given a chance if Ward/Treacy are carrying knocks or are tired. He deserves a chance after Tuesday!

I shal be sat back with the peasants!

Blades vs Leicester - change a winning team??

The old saying goes, 'if it aint broke then don't fix it'. After strolling past watford we are faced with a sterner challenge against Leicester. I think the vast majority of Unitedites are expecting the same team, but will KB change it?

In his post match comments Blackwell said that Jamie Ward was absolutely knackered, hence he may bring in Cotts on the right hand side of midfield. I don't thing anyone would complain too much if he was to do this. If Ward is to start then he is only likely to play 50/60 mins due to his lack of mtach practice/level of fitness.

On the subject of Blackwells post match interview; I was quite impressed. He talked about how important it is to play positive football at the Lane. I think we all hope that he has learnt from his misatkes last year. Hopefully he'll put our best team out and let them worry about us. If he continues to get things right away from home and we play positive attacking football at home then we could imrove on last season.

Additionally KB talked about bringing in a couple more players. He said he had a few things in the pipeline, but was looking to bring in better than what we got. In this he mentioned that he was happy with his first 12 payers, but wanted an extra 2 or 3 to complete the jigsaw. Now SOC, BobBooker etc will dismiss this as tripe, but it makes sense. The link (as well as highlights) is below.

Can see Reid and Cotts starting for Treacy and Ward respectively as both looked a little tired.

Wouldn't be suprised if Ched was on the bench as he still hasn't had a full pre-season and so needs to be nurtured back to Blades fitness!

i think Leicester will be a much harder challenge than Watford (which isn't saying much!). Leicester will quite comfortably be finishing top half this season and will take a lot of big name scalps along the way!

I think our defence has made a few blunders which so far haven't been taken advantage of (lets face it - watford!) but the likes of Fyatt will pounce on.

Likewise, i feel our newfound pace on the wings will cause them problems.

Can't see a third straight clean sheet out of this one and reckon it will be quite a high scoring affair. 3-2 to the blades!

Injury or fitness should be the only reason to change that line up - a good performance at home should breed some sort of continuity. We shouldn't be adapting to the opposition at home - our patch, our rules

If Ward is 'knackered' then bringing in Cotts is probably the best move - he's not afraid to have a shot.

That's one of the things that impressed me on Sat. I was fully expecting a couple of defensive subs around the 70 min mark to try & consolidate the 2-0 win. Instead, we saw the introduction of Cotts & Reid, and we were unlucky not to add a couple more goals after that. It felt like a total shift away from last season.

Still, it's too early to say for sure. The true test will be when the likes of Newcastle & WBA come to the Lane.

Hopefully we will stick to it and don't fall into bad habits.

As surely by now Blackwell should be thinking our defense is solid enough to cope.

We need to learn how to finish teams off so if they do get a goal back we wont wobble.

At the moment i'm inclined to think that we should be putting a team out to get the best possible result tomorrow night against Leicester rather than worrying about fiddling around with things too much and looking too far ahead of ourselves.

Win tomorrow night and we will have got 7 points from the first 3 games, and as starts go, that will be more than passable in my book

Ok Metal. But this is about the wider point of playing attacking football at home (despite the title of the post!?)

I'll be there... all by myself, anyone want to come sit next to me on the Kop?

You'd be welcome to join us on row ZZ - seats around the 165-170 area (we tend to wander a bit!!). We're 3 forum folks together and more on YY just in front of us. Some idiots a few rows back - but the more "supporters" we can get in our neck of the woods the better.

Early team news......

Kevin Blackwell set to name unchanged side v Leicester, with Mark Bunn keeping his place in goal. Lee Hendrie available after serving a ban.

:)

I'll be on the kop on Fabio-watch on Tuesday. I will need to explain. Me and my son sometimes go to the far left of the kop about halfway up. The attraction is a bloke who goes through 90 minutes of hell every week. He kicks every ball, makes every tackle and hysterically throws his arms up at every near miss.
Before the Blackpool game last season, my son said "I wonder if Fabio Capello will come tonight." I was pissing myself for about 5 hours afterwards. He will forever been known as Fabio to us now.

My Side for tonight:

Bunn
Walker Morgan Killa Taylor
Cotterill Monty Howard Treacy
Evans Hendo

Subs: Bennett, Bromby, Hendrie, Ward, Little, Quinn, Reid

Hang on, I thought Hendrie had to serve a four match ban, I make it only three so far:- Boro' Vale and Watford, or have I got it wrong?

You're correct fella.

Tonight 'should' be another 3 points.

I don't see any reason to change the starting XI tonight.

It's silly, I know, but I dreamed about the match last night. 3-0 to the Blades with Taylor getting the third in the last minute.
I don't think I've ever dreamed about a specific match before. Maybe I should put a bet on!

I might make it to the Lion tonight for a snifter before the match. Meant to come along on Saturday but had to go and buy some new jeans, as all my others have fallen to bits. Usual suspects about tonight?

Usual suspects about tonight?

Aye... Foxy and I should be there just after 6pm, think Keenzy and SF were threatening to go straight from work (pissheads ;))
