. Only sour point was Halfords disgraceful lunge, should have gone. Maybe he read Keenzys thread on Ainsworth and wanted revenge.

Think you are being very harsh on him there. To me it looked like a commited tackle in which he played only the ball. Freekick, because it was two footed, but he tried to keep his back foot out of the way, wasn't nasty in the slightest.

Yeah he jumped in but his studs were down. Not nasty at all.

Pah... football is turning into a poofs game, all these fans straightening their hair would prefer to see 'em patting each other on the shoulder and politely asking if they could have the ball ;)

They should play against me!

great game, jihai looked amazing, as did all of the defense, midfield looked class, hendo held it up well, and sharp was first class, could of had 5!

some great parts, ugo's goal saving tackle, and jihais flick to hendo in the corner, world class stuff ;)

Ledesma... I'm embarrassed for you son :D

An improved performance from Mr Tonge and a quiet second half for all concerned.

SJH is an absolute steal... assured and committed.

Anyone know what's wrong with Morgs?

Ledesma& especially that prick Parejo are two of the biggest pussys i have ever seen in Englis football & they are the mardiest too with the im taking my ball home attitude:cry2: lol they are so overated it is unreal they were pure garbage today.

Well done to Billy Sharp for proving me wrong today i thought he wasn't up to championship football and he proved that with team playing to his strengths which is balls into his feet he will score plenty of goals keep it up Billy.

I don't have anything against the lad Halford personally but he looked shaky again and gave the ball away all to often cotts to start for me everytime.

Halford won the ball back for us on many occasions with his height.

His long throws are a big asset too.

I thought Cotts would start and he makes great chances.

Great problems I'd say!

:)

The way he jumped in was shocking. As soon as the ball went away from him you could see him run and jump straight in the air at the QPR player. He might have took the ball but it was a dangerous tackle and he was lucky to get away with a booking. I could it happening as soon the ball ran away from him. But thats just my opinion of course.

He jumped early, so he could get to the ball. There's a difference between jumping early and savagely going for the man.

Having the benefit of not being very far away, I could see he aimed his studs down, got and aimed for only the ball and actually looked to try and get his other foot out of the way. Had it been an opposition player, i'd have been happy with a free kick, on the technicality of the second foot. Booking and free kick merely because of the second foot.

In my opinion, very harsh to pull him up on this one, which looked worse than it was. He himself had 3/4 far worse and much more dangerous tackles put in against him at Hudderfield and at least 1 during todays match.

Well I have seen players sent off for that and I just thought with how they have clamped down on dangerous tackles and I was like that could be off as soon as I saw it. But he took a rough challenge in the middle of the pitch when the QPR player collided into him. Thought it looked more of an accident to be honest. Seemed to be a coming together, but with you been closer you might have had a better look at that as well.

TBH i thought halford was abit lucky with that challenge. he kept his studs down but he's still left the floor with both feet and jumped in. Playing sunday league i have seen too many players get sent off for it even if they with the ball as the have left the floor at a lunge.

Good win for the blades and solid all around. Billy MOTM for his hat-trick and his movement off the ball. Tonge was better than last week but still weaker than the rest of the team. Relish was average too, weather his is still carrying a knock i dunno.

Squinny, SJH and killa all ace again. Left winger needed? ill stick with squinny TBH.

Play like this week in week out and we will have no worries.

Morgan was concussion too blackwell said so will be out for 10 days?

Well Billy gets MOM today from me for the hat trick.
Wern't going to give it anybody cause to close to call the Blades were great.
Killa BDTBL Legend.

Fantastic performance, no complaints.

MOTM- Sharp- he needed to hit the ground running and hopefully it will give him the confidence required to go and get a hatful

QPR- one of the favourites to go up- not on that peformance

Everyone did really well today even Tonge and The Relish had OK games.

Your spot on about QPR Linz they did little to win the ball and spent most their time rolling round on the floor.

Overall a top performance and it will give other teams something to think about.

The Blades shrugged off the disappointment of last weeks cruel defeat at Birmingham as they made light work of their big spending opponents at Bramall Lane this afternoon. A blistering opening set out the stall as they impressed against an abject QPR side Billy Sharp netting a perfect hat trick.

The Blades knew it was imperative to start brightly in front of their ever expectant fans and within three minutes it was all smiles at Bramall Lane. Greg Halford sent a long throw in and Darius Henderson’s flick was met by a diving header from Sharp past Radek Cerny.

Soon after it was two as a dominant United side were outplaying Rangers. Following Gary Speed’s tackle on Mikele Leigertwood, the welsh veteran sent Sharp on his way for the little talisman to coolly slot home to put the hosts in a comfortable lead just 15 minutes in. That sparked a despondent QPR side to confront each other in the middle of the pitch to try and put things right. Unfortunately they were still unable to string a few passes together and United were pouncing on individual errors which were causing the visitors constant problems.

Rangers were hopeless going forward and awful at the back. They lacked ideas and cohesion as it seemed The Blades would go on to get a big score. The rare attack they conjured up it would be wasteful and failing to test Paddy Kenny in goal. Minutes before the break Sharp fired just wide as he searched for his hat trick. Michael Tonge had two efforts, one which was blocked by Sharp and the other that was well saved by Cerny. The only sour note of an otherwise excellent half was the injury of Captain Chris Morgan who took an accidental knock to the head. The defender, clearly dazed was replaced by Ugo Ehiogu.

The Blades were in no mood to let off and Tonge delivered an early corner in the second half. Cerny flapped and Sharp finally found the net to complete his hat trick in front of the Kop. He was close to a fourth as Henderson flicked for him to volley at Cerny, who was kept busy by an impressive Blades side. The visiting supporting, who had endured a torrid trip north almost got back into it as Ledesma struck a post with a powerful shot. The ball ricocheted to Dexter Blackstock who looked certain to score, but was denied by a brilliant last ditch tackled by Ehiogu.

Kenny saved from Blackstock as rangers pressed with a positive attitude. Parejo, on loan from Real Madrid saw his free kick well saved by Paddy Kenny and late on Henderson almost put the icing on the cake but Cerny saved again. Then Stephen Quinn shot straight at Cerny as the Blades looked to finish the game like they had started.

Sharp was replaced by Danny Webber to a standing ovation by the vocal home support. The game ebbed out with United comfortable victors. Rangers, who have spent big this summer, are one of the favourites for promotion according to bookmakers were largely disappointing. But on this evidence not many teams will relish the trip to Bramall Lane as they look to make it a fortress this season.

Quality performance today, the one person I'm giving a shout to is Naysmith, he was f*cking brilliant from start to finish.

More of the same please Blades.

Agreed, he was unspectacularly (in that he didn't make himself stand out) brilliant. Did absolutely everything right.

Got praise for every single one of them though, just hope it continues :D

He did, being a left back when I used to play I have a lot of time for Naysmith, I think he's had some unfair stick from United fans since he joined but I think with him and Sun at either full back position we've got Premiership standard.

Definitely got praise for everyone, just need to turn this into consistency :)

Ok, I'm merely making a point here, not having a pop at anyone in particular, and certainly not any players, but I kept an eye on Gary Speed in the 2nd half after noticing in the 1st that a number of his passes went astray. They continued to do so in the 2nd half. I just wonder if it were Michael Tonge, would we have heard more grumbles from the crowd?

Of course we would, Tonge had a solid game today with some nice passes, Killa was solid in defense, Sun looked a great aquisition again. Bargain getting him for free! but man of the match would be Billy Sharp, good hattrick (could have had more) battled back and looked completely different to the one we saw last year.

Beattie should be back in contention for at least the next home match according to my mate who was talking to him in the box today.

UTB!!!

An excellent team performance today from the Blades, i reyt enjoyed it. Man of the match has to be hat trick hero Sharpy but there was a lot of quality performances out there today so i'll give a 8 out of ten team rating. Killa, Quinn and Kenny (when needed) were in superb form. A special mention has to be given though to a man i had down as a publicity signing (looks like i got that wrong) Sun Jihai who looks to be absolute quality.

QPR the Chelski of the championship have some very good players and should be pushing for the play offs but oh dear are these foreigners going to cut it in the CCC some of the diving and rolling about feigning injury bordered on the ridiculous and that gypo knob from Real Madrid needed chinning.

Excellent performance, but to go back to the Halford challenge, I think he was very lucky to stay on the field. From my vantage point, I could see him launch at the opponent. It looked very dangerous to me.

Granted his back foot was kept out of the way as much as possible, but his leading foot looked to be at just below knee height!

A comprehensive performance, but I ain't getting carried away yet!

..........I kept an eye on Gary Speed in the 2nd half after noticing in the 1st that a number of his passes went astray. They continued to do so in the 2nd half........

I think with any central midfield player you are going to see a number of passes go astray simply because they will make a lot of passes. I certainly agree that Tonge would have got a lot more stick than Speed did.
I also think that if Monty had played instead of Speed, but had played exactly the same, with the same number of tackles made, possession lost and pass ratio then people would be calling for his head.

I think that some players are excused or given allowances for a few bad moments during a game, whilst others are given absolutely no leeway by certain sections of the crowd. It might be that they know what older players such as Speed, and McCall from a few years ago, are capable of and are prepared to allow for mistakes. Home-grown players like Monty and Tonge are expected to play like Zidane or Beckenbauer every second of every game, with no leeway or room for error.

Great performance all round Blades. Was worried after seeing the same starting XI as last week but credit Blackie. Dont think hes got a mention yet but took bottle to do that and it paid off. Right from Halfords long throw for the 1st goal up to Relish who might I add was better than OK. Thought it was difficult for him but he showed why hes here shrugging off challenges which would have put their continentals in hospital.

Add to that an assured performance from Tongue who did get involved and DID run off the front 2 and DID get in behind. OK we would like to see a bit more physical bite from him but he has obviously answered some of the criticism hes got over the last week.

Sharp speeks for himself with a 'perfect' hat-trick and Im now confident we will see a different player to last year.

Squinny, Killa, Naysmith, Jihai & Speed all stood out as class players. If truth be told, Im seriously worried about Killa and Squinny because if performances continue then we will be lucky to hold on to them both. Jihai looked a class act and so cool on the ball-great acquisition! Speed was immense in the build up to Sharp's second-him and Tongue were both out of position, he covered a lot of ground to make a strong challenge and played a great ball through. You just need to watch his play off the ball to realise how good for us he is.

Well done Blades!
Forget last week-it just didnt happen for us but yesterday was excellent. Blackie was right by stating this is a benchmark. We now have to perform to this level week-in week-out.
Excellent lads! :D
