For family reasons I'll not be able to make it to the match, the first and hopefully only home match of the season. I was rather hoping to manage a full season without missing a single home league match, but do you know what? I don't really care.

I'll be darn sarf on the Isle of Wight and getting very drunk in Southampton with my brothers after we have finally scattered my Mum's ashes that have spent the last two and a half years in a jar in my cellar, and to be quite honest the thought of blowback in a heavy wind and a gobful of burnt Mum seems preferable to going to the match.

So enjoy yourselves. I'll be drinking flat expensive piss, probably in the same boozer we ended up in after Southampton away two years ago. Have fun, because I will.

Remember to bully any blue-pop drinking Southerners SV!

So then... exactly how hostile do we expect the atmosphere at the Lane to be on Saturday?

Hope you have a good weekend SV

Based on last night and the reports/comments in the match thread i would expect that it will be either Very busy and extremely hostile or it will be dead with noone in the ground.

I'm in Sheffield on Saturday, but I won't be going to the match.

I'm coming up (from London) with the missus to visit my parents. My bird isn't that big a fan of football and hence I won't be going to the match. It's not because she wears the trousers, but more because I can't be arsed. I could either put my foot down and say we are going or just leave her with my mum in Sheff (shopping or sumert) and go with the old man. But with the shower of shite being served up I can't really be bothered. I'd sooner have an afternoon out walking or sumert. It's a sorry state of affairs, but apathy has well and truly set in for me.

I hope the one's who do go enjoy the game. But can anyone really see us winning this one? I mean QPR aren't great but they've been given a lift with Warnock taking over and winning 2 on the bounce. Generally we've not been too bad at home, but we all know that KB often gets out foxed by better managers. Warnock will know exactly what to do against us (shots from the edge of the box, big defenders coping with long balls, try and nick an early goal) and I think it will tell.

I expect this to be a draw (1-1) but wouldn't be surprised if sir Neils team came and took all 3 points.

Warnock's team talk is simple :

'Score the first goal and the home crowd will win you this game.' I dread to hear what the atmosphere will be like if we go behind early, unless Blackwell has left of course.

2nd that Daz. Hit em hard in the first 10 mins, shoot on sight as their keeper is a poor shot stopper, la de da. Not only the atmosphere, but our awful record of not being able to over turn a 0-1 deficit.

Referee appointment:

Sheffield United v Queens Park Rangers
A BATES
J Hunt and R L Johnson
Fourth Official A H Greenwood

Tony Bates has reffed 26 games, dishing out 80 bookings and 1 red card.

In a continuation of our Jekyll & Hyde season I reckon we'll come out all guns blazing and give QPR a good pasting.

Sheffield United 3-0 QPR

It's the turn of the eldest mini Cooper (6) to join me in the swearing section today.

By 5pm, he'll know loads of new swearwords and will think it's normal to shout "Why did you play Jagielka at right back against Wigan?" at the opposing manager every 5 minutes.

Was just thinking how important it is today that we get behind the team. For the simple reason it takes away one of Blackie's potential excuses if we lose. You can just hear 'It doesn't help the lads when the crowd are on their backs, just waiting for a mistake so they can boo' etc etc.

You might be right, every time Blackwell has faced some pressure (re: the fans turning on him) he's pulled a rabbit out of the hat.

Thank fuck I missed it. Looks like getting leathered in Southampton was the best bet.
