To Brewster or not to Brewster, that is the question..............

Even though were down and fed up I'm bored so interested to see people's line ups with the injuries we have! Struggling with the striker but OMB offers us something from set pieces and crosses and not a bad player to feet.

Ramsdale

Baldock Jagielka Bryan Osborn

Ampadu Fleck

Bogle McGoldrick Burke

McBurnie
Ramsdale
Ampadu - Jagielka - Bryan
Baldock - Norwood - Fleck - Stevens
McGoldrick
McBurnie - Brewster

Can’t think of many excuses for not filling empty spots on the bench with youngsters. They’re not going to play but just give them the experience of a first-team match day.
Apparently this is Covid related and they are in a different bubble to the first team. Subsequently whilst it would be good for them if they were to get on the pitch for the first team it apparently means that they would be able to play matches in their respective age groups for a period of time.

I see. Didn’t take Covid bubbles or anything like that into account. Makes more sense in that case.

Exactly... the mind boggles

That dors make sense. But I’m sure they have trained in the first team and some have been on the bench for the odd game here and there?

Who gives a fuck? The players and staff don't seem to. Play Rammers upfront and give Brewster a go in goal, he might have more chance of scoring.
Players and staff don't care...? Good one. What well considered input.

Or it's just been a bad season in the world's highest level football competition. After we've had 4 sensational seasons.

I think I'd go with
Rammers
Ampadu Jagielka Bryan
Baldock. Enda
Lunny Norwood. Fleck
McBurnie Burke

I know dropping McGoldrick is a bit daft, but I can't help but feeling that Liverpool back line could be exposed by the physicality and fight of McBurnie and the raw pace of Burke.

Midfield and defense isn't great either, but I don't see any other improvements to be honest.

That is indeed correct but it is my understanding that having entered the first team bubble For training or matches they are not allowed back into their own for a period of time. Thus precluding them from matches snd training with their respective age group

I think may be this, as it is closest to Chris' preferred set up.

However, the sheer number of injuries may force a biblical conversion on him and he changes the formation. Way too late to affect the overall outcome though

Surely this would pack our midfield enough so we don't get cut wide open in the middle as usual

Ampadu could move into a midfield 5 when we have the ball or drop into a back 4 when we are without possession?

So we think that if they don’t have a game for a period of time then they are used in and around the first team... if they do then they aren’t?

Is 11 going to be enough? all joking apart our next 3 at home are Liverpool, Villa, and Soton with Liverpool & Soton going though a bad run, then they play us.

Having the option to change shape during a game is something we seem to lack, sometimes players swap within the formation, but the basic shape stays the same.

Ramsdale, Baldock, Ampadu, Jagielka, Bryan, Osborn, Lundstram, Norwood, Fleck, McGoldrick, Burke gives a couple of options.

You can have the usual 5-3-2/3-5-2, switch it to 4-5-1/4-3-3 with Osborn wide left and Burke wide right.

Go a bit more attacking with the 11 and pick Brewster or Sharp in place of Lundstram pushes McGoldrick into midfield in those previous two options, but also gives an obvious route to 4-4-2 being an option as well (plus an alternative 3-5-2 with Burke at right wing back, Baldock tucking in and Ampadu pushing forward into midfield).
