The thread about all the memorable matches at the lane brought back loads of great memories but without doubt the best match of my life was the 3.1 win at swillsborough, just watched highlights again and the eyes still well up!
From being in the cannon inn pub on dykes hall rd rammed with blades, flags up outside loads of singing, pigs nowhere, singing to the ground, inside the noise was incredible, flags, flares, balloons. Last 10 minutes had the biggest headache from the booze and singing but still kept singing. as the ground emptied except for blades in other stands.
The celebrations went on long after the match too.
That night will never be beaten

Well I've been 3 times and never even celebrated a goal. I fucking hate it.

My 2nd visit to the sty after they'd beaten us 3-2 in the Zenith Data Cup a couple of years earlier, it was a great night, blades in good voice, Pigs deluded it was the big revenge after we beat them 2-0 at the Lane, talk of Boxing Day result all over again, 3 minutes in and BOOM, Dane gets the better of Neilsen once again, Woods' arsehole drops out once again and the Blades are buzzing. They got a spawny deflected freekick but Bobby Davison restores order and blades fans are up celebrating all over the sty.

Shame we couldn't have got a coup,e more that night, Hodges was very close to making it 4-1 at one point.

superb night to be a Blade!

North Stand for me that night. I wildy celebrated every goal and would've taken the world on. How I got out alive still amazes me. Mind you, I wasnt alone.

I remember the Wednesday players bringing out a club record that year , it was a follow up to diamond lights for waddle and hoddle

Why is it where play the pigs your normal sense of what's normal behaviour and what's not goes out of the window.

it's like there's a full moon and I'm on a wild one, especially those night matches when we play em.

The one going through Woods' legs was in the 2-0 match at the Lane earlier in the season. ;) Deano scored it. (5:50 ish on the below :D)

Zoneman, Woods also let one through his legs at Hillsborough that we didn't score from (sadly not on the video). Glyn Hodges had turned his back and failed to notice Woods mistake otherwise it would have been a simple tap in for him. Englands number 1?? He wasn't even Sheffield's number 1.

It was a great night, I was in the old stand, surrounded by the enemy, I knew when I heard the team Francis had picked that we were going to win. But what a great atmosphere, and I was up celebrating each time we scored. The first goal celebrations all round the ground when we scored the first was amazing. To me that put the despair to Boxing Day to right.

No you weren't alone I was in there too! I was with my Dad as a cocky 20 year old and thinking back now as a "sensible" father of two I can't understand what possessed us to do it, we went mental when Dane put the first away and we got dogs abuse but it was great looking over at the sea of red and white Leppings Lane end. Brilliant night and one I will never forget, I even pulled after the game too!

You weren't in the north stand in 2001 by any chance was you, they couldn't cope with us nearly 1500 blades in north stand, awesome it was,i was 18 young and daft but what a laugh that was ,it was like a gunfight in texas underneath.djaffo and when the ball hits the goal its not shearer or cole its asaba scored ,we went fucking wild,we won 2-1,think sibon got theirs, can't remember and don't give a shit either.
From been in the hannover pub at 8 in the morning till when i went to sleep and untill this day now i'll never forget that day ,for me scholar sorry this is my best as i didn't go to the one your talking about.
The row of coppers they put between us was a cunning plan to detract from violence as nearly everyone of them was absolutely gorgeous.
I want more derbies so i can take my son to show him what a proper atmosphere is all about, guts, passion, emotions all under one roof, can't beat it.

The best without a doubt still gets talked about plenty even now.
We had a crew about 50 strong right in the middle of the North Stand.
Joy from start to finish and into the night

I was in the North Stand that day but sat with a group of Oinkers who'd got me a ticket. I was about 30 yards away from the mob of Blades in there. Was it really 13 years ago ?

Was 3-1 at the time I recall, 4 goals that night would have gone even further in eradicating BD

Or Wednesday's number one. I always wonder whether the Pigs might have finished even higher that year if they'd have gone with Pressman instead of Woods, who was a disaster every time I saw him play that year. Happily, they kept Woods in the side!

its hard to catch but you just get the start of the row of coppers just before the first goal

A superb day. Before the match the group I was with walked down fro Walkley pre-kick off. About 200 yards behind us were loads of police escorting a massive (sorry) mob down into the centre of Hillsborough. Couldn't see any colours on them but I'd guessed they were Blades. Not long after we got into the ground the same United mob were put into the same stand, Funny thing was because I was walking out at the end with the Unclean the Blades were giving us loads of stick. After the match I shook off my mates and made my way to a pub on London Rd where I could properly celebrate, The Blades had hung an effigy of a Pig dressed in Wednesday colours outside.
Wednesday never seemed to be in the match, surprised it wasn't a bigger win for us

I was in the North Stand as well. Just jumped up with Dane scored and thought 'oh shit', looked round and there were hundreds of Blades everywhere in that stand celebrating. There were also a small band of Blades on the Kop and some in their South Stand. I didn't realise Davidson had scored- I thought Gannon's cross had gone straight in . Pouring down with rain but an amazing night

was one of John Gannon's most imperious performances , thought on the night he ran the middle of the park , the only sour note was just missing out on the 4th when the ball went under woods and crawled tantalisingly along the line and if someone had tapped it in ,,,.,,,,,,

Even in defeat the arrogants were still claiming they were the better footballing team, despite being outplayed and their only attempt being the deflected free kick goal.
They really are delusional obnoxious b'stards, but laughing at them made it even sweeter in the aftermath!

Just split up from the women ( who's still my partner now , don't ask ) and rang up a few mates , and said fuck it going back to Sheffield for the week , and took a week off work , we were due to play Villa at home the Satdi , the pigs away , and Man U at home the following satdi .
The Villa game was called off as they were still in the cup .
Which set up the pigs , we had a few sherbets in town before rambling up there , few lads from , killamarsh , half way and S2 ,
the only problem ? was our tickets were for there Kop , so after we scored , it came on top big time and we all got our collars felt by SYP and got fucked out .Great buzz , great night , great double . Some ale was supped that night up London Rd , I can tell ya .
Went on a bit of a bender for that week and might have spent some time in that club ItsInYourBlood may have run around London rd at the time .
Used to hate all the hassle that our Derby used to attract / still attracts but after an incident at Midland railway station , have detested the fuckers with an unflinching hatred ever since .
