Does no one care about our biggest game of the season to date???

Massive game and all the pressure is on for us to beat Charlton. Big test for Wilson and the players.

Ollessendro's team:

------ SS

Lowton Collins Maguire Lescinel

M.-Laing Monty McDonald Quinn

------ Cresswell Evans

Prediction: it is too close to call. However I have a bad feeling about this one. I am going for a 1-2 loss. More of the same. Contriol the game, nice football and crisp passing, but lacking in the final third. Still create chances, but don't take them and Charlton more clinical.

I can't believe Charlton have signed SEVENTEEN players since last season ended and that they've all seemingly gelled together instantly.
I think we'll win if we take our chances and I'd pick the same team that created loads and scored a few against Colchester:-

Simonsen
Lowton Collins Maguire Williams (if fit)
Williamson Doyle McDonald Quinn
Evans Potter
Subs:- Long, JF2, Montgomery, Tonne, Creswell

Cant remember a game generating less excitement than this weekends
No one seems bothered. Even with it being a top of the table clash

Blades 12-charlton 3

I thought top Blades like you Judgey would be buzzin about it all? Huge game an all that, two giants of the 3rd tier going at it full throttle. Cresswell, Porter, Doyle and Monty, Flynn, NML? How can anyone not be excited?

0-2 or 1-3 tomorrow.

Truly pathetic Judgey - extreme double standards you posting how little excitement this game is creating, even though it is top of table clash, yet lambast someone for pointing it out elsewhere.

what you on about ?

I said I aint excited about Satdi - because for me McCabe has destroyed the club and get battered (fair enuf, aint complaining btw) - you say Satdi's game is generating no excitement - pretty similar stuff.

I guess the counselling isn't really having much effect yet..?

I'm fine pal, just trying to get some posts on the match thread. Make it look like someone still cares.

And what do you think the score will be tomorrow Duncs? Line-up? Formation? Sorry forgot, you don't comment on the football or the club, that would be speculation not FACT. Heh Seth, I don't spculate about speculation. Beattie has flu.

We've got goals in us at home, but the fragility of the defence makes it hard against the better players to stay on-top. I really expect us to get a score draw tomorrow, but you never know. If it was totally predictable there'd be no point in going.

Danny will choose the players and the formation. He knows a lot more about football than I do, plus he's paid to do the job, so I'm happy to let him.

As for the rest, you need to let go of some stuff...

I care, I'm doing a 300 mile round trip for it and the missus is making her debut in the stands as well (currently a neutral but that will change sharpish!) - will be a great game but I can't call a result on this one!

Ive had to do things I would rather not admit to so I can finish work early and go. Porter to be replaced with Cressy up front in company with Evans. Williamson to be dropped for being wank at Wanky Wycombe wanky wanderers.

The blades 3 Charlton 1 blades, blades.

Sadly I can't see anything for this game but Bradley Wright-Phillips tearing us a new arsehole. We'll be well beaten. :cry2:

Wright-Phillips is carrying an injury, so they say. Late fitness test, so they say. If he plays, Monty will have him on toast, so they say...

Never fear blades fans, I'm back for this one, following my last match v bury I expect that we can only have fine tuned our goal scoring talents, improved fitness and will be bang up for this one.

A nice 6-1 to the blades, you can thank me after for bringing us luck

And it'll all be done within the speed limits and McCabe will be pronounced the messiah at full time.

The soul of my football club is well and truly restored :)

What's all this fear of Charlton? If we were in the Championship you'd all be saying 'We've got to beat teams like these..'. Wright-Phillips is nothing special - he plays for Charlton not one of the massive clubs like sheffield wednesday.

There is no case at all for selecting The Maestro. He couldn't protect the back four or break up play against Walsall Reserves!

We haven't had a draw at home. All averages gravitate to the mean so that's a likely outcome. Despite that, I predict a Blades win, maybe 2-0. Doyle to score.

op's wrong net lads...

During my long journey home Saturday, I had plenty of time to think about the game and I have come to a few conclusions.

1) I never, ever, want to see Doyle or Williamson in a blades shirt again. Doyle was absolutely atrocious, could barely even pass a ball straight to a man less than 10 yards from him. Williamson was completely and utterly lazy, whether that is a statement to Wilson that he doesn't want to play on the wing or not I don't know, but his performance was unacceptable, a complete nobody.

2) Quinn is the only one that seems to care and will give everything for 90 mins. There were 2 occasions where he absolutely laid in to two of his colleagues, and quite rightly too. The first one was MacDonald not bothering to chase down a pass that was slightly too heavy from Lowton, granted he probably wouldn't have made it, but given it still had about 10 yards to travel before it went off for a goal kick, and the second was Evans, who despite doing incredibly well to twist and turn his way through the defence, then ran straight back into that trouble instead of playing a simple ball to Quinn who was in an excellent crossing position all on his own!

3) I am absolutely delighted to see us playing the ball around, but it seems we are trying to over do it when we get around the opposition 18 yard box, when sometimes just pinging a ball into the mixer from the wing would be the far better option. There were too many times when Evans (and Cresswell when he came on) found themselves out wide doing exactly this, rather than being in the box waiting for a cross.

4) LJF - this man is heading towards becoming the next Nosworthy if he's not careful, every time the ball went near him I worried. One thing he should definitely be doing is meeting the ball in the air, rather than letting it bounce almost every time and inviting pressure from the oppo.

5) Collins - simply not good enough and Maguire actually looks like the senior player between the two of them. Sure, he may look like Beckenbauer against the lesser teams, but so could you and I. Against anyone clever enough to put even the smallest amount of pressure on him, he will piss it up, his defending for that second goal was nothing short of comical - time to give Parrino a go if you ask me.

6) That game was there for the taking, especially in the first half. Charlton offered very little and we simply didn't take advantage. There wasn't enough pressing of the ball, and there were nowhere near enough options going forward, Quinn looked isolated almost every single time he went forward with the strikers making minimal runs, and when they did make a run it was usually in the same direction into the same bit of space. This needs to be addressed quickly, Porter is nothing short of abysmal and I'd rather see Tonne playing than him any day of the week as we simply can't rely on Cresswell now, a truly awful signing unfortunately, I think I could have worried their defence more than he did.

7) Every team has a bad run at some point in the season, and I hope this is ours now and we come back stronger for the rest of the campaign. I was completely unimpressed by Charlton in truth, but they simply took their chances and that's why they are top of the league, with a 5 point cushion.
