There's absolutely no hindsight involved at all.
We've been reminding ourselves regularly about what happens when you" buy for the future" since January 2007.

Let's hope toneet he shows why we paid that much for him, surely it's time to step up and give us atleast a reason to believe he's good enough.

All this Brewster has got ability is based on what? The TV clips of a few goals at Swansea. Who has actually watched him play for 90 mins on a number of occasions before he came here?

I have not so would welcome those who did and what his attributes/abilities are.

I don't want to just knock him for knocking sake but my judgement of a player is normally based on what they do for my club. Everything else is kind of redundant. Matters not one jot to me if they were good before or after SUFC.

So far he has not had great service but even Burke, McGoldrick and McBurnie have shown far more appetite, work rate, hold up and goal threat/nuisance.

I've seen him contribute nothing. His touch is poor, he is slow, unathletic, poor in the air and not physical or mobile. He's had about 1 shot in 8 or 9 games.

He may come good but seen nothing from him so far at all. That is just being honest. Maybe others have seenbthings from him in a Blades shirt I have not.

He would be 5th choice in pecking order on current threat/contribution. I'm not sure why we are still starting him.
I agree with most of what you say but two of the best passes behind the opposition defence have come from him

I keep hearing that Brewster was "one for the future".

If so, that makes the signing as daft as the other signings this window. When that deal went through, we needed good players now, not in 2 to 3 years.

Alcoblade was exactly right about Ched Evans. He was a good League One player but a poor championship player. We seem to have fallen into the same trap again 10 years on.
My sentiments exactly. Last season, understandably, we signed players who would be good for us if we went down and some of our first team were to be pilfered by the rest of the league. We didn't of course but instead of trying to consolidate, we've done the same again, signing players who might be good for us in the Championship or we can make a profit on if they leave and we've paid for it this time. Based on current form, we'll be paying other clubs to take them off our hands. I'd sooner we signed the likes of Foster and Deeney from Watford, players of that kind of ilk where we at least know what we're getting and are proven performers now, not in the play offs in a couple of years.

Premier League football is about the here and now and signing a team of project players who might come good in a few years time isn't what we needed or a luxury that we can afford.

Admittedly we the fans are never 100% aware of what goes on behind the scenes, and don't know if anything happened to change recruitment strategies mid transfer window.

We were faced with Billy being another year older, Didzy being mercurial, Moose an enigma and CR not really up to scratch in our formation.

Pre-window I imagined we'd be after at least one proven lead striker in the summer, someone who would score goals from the get go for us. Youngish, but not too young, at about 23, 24 or 25 and mobile with a bit of physical presence. When I say proven, I mean a player who had scored consistantly over a 2/3 period at Championship level or in the top division of a tier 2 league.

What I find strange with the gossip since is that after being supposedly interested in Callum Wilson (proven PL goalscorer and england international), then dropping to Watkins (45 in 132 in the champ), I would've thought that the logical progression downwards would be Ahearne-Grant (£15m) at Huddersfield, Armstrong at Blackburn, Toney (£5m) at Peterborough or even Jutkiewicz at Birmingham (as a cheap, 2 season option). We've ended up with Burke & Brewster, which are head scratchers.

Presumably Watkins can move and make runs in the knowledge he may get something from his midfield; Grealish and Barkley in particular. Brewster gets nothing. Don't get me wrong, I don't think Brewster has done brilliantly, but it's unfair to compare him to Watkins when the confidence levels and systems of the team's they're currently playing in are so hugely different.

Yep, helps when Grealish has created around the same amount of chances this season (51) as our top 5 chance creators combined (Lunny + Berge + Baldock + Fleck + McBurnie = 54)

Toney was surely a no-brainer.

im bemused why more teams don’t just let Brentford do the scouting and then try and gazzump them at signing by offering pl wages.

more of Brentford’s side get into our side then the other way round I would say based on this season...

I hate to admit it but Grealish is class mind you the signs Smith has made outclass the signings Wilder has made by far , however they have spent more money I believe .

Brewster looks alright today. In a team offering him service I think he'd come good.

Brewster!!??There’s more life in a tramps vest! No passion, no work, no desire, no pace and no Fukin idea! Might as well have been sat in my living room with me! Total waste of space!!😉😉🤷🏽🤷🏽Y Y Y Delilah!🤷🏽🤷🏽

Marginal improvement tonight.

Still pretty underwhelming though.

Anyone expecting Moose, McBadbuy and Brewster to tear up the championship next season should give their Ed a wobble.

It would never happen in a month of Sunday’s, but I’d be inclined to go for a complete clear out of all 6 of our strikers and start again.

Harsh on Dids and no one else !!

UTB.

Agreed showed flashes of clever link up at times with Didzy both seeming to know where the other was for flicks. Very unlucky not to score aswell. That said clearly not the finished article ran down blind alleys at times a few loose touches and caught in possession a few times.
