Does anyone know for sure if he’s still got another year left in his contract at Burnley or if he’s got a relegation release clause? I keep seeing conflicting comments.

He spoke recently to the Burnley local press and mentioned it was still his dream to play for United again but has a contract at Burnley so will be giving it his all for them next season.

Read a bit like a come and get me message to Wilder but seems to confirm his contract and no release clause.

Thanks - sounds like he’s interested - but if Burnley want a fee - I don’t think it will happen.
 
He could always arrange to have his contract paid up and move to us if they are prepared to play ball and negotiate around the contract fee

According to T-Blade Walker is on our list of targets.
If Walker is serious (and it looks like he is) the he would surely want to play for us rather than against us this upcomming season.

Kyle at RCB as Captain is my prediction :)

Any fucker as captain over Tanganga.
 



If he really wants to play for us again next season is probably his last chance given his age. With all those years at Man City I would imagine he's absolutely loaded now and would take a pay cut if he really wanted to come. You don't see many footballers taking that attitude though. For the vast majority money trumps all other considerations.

Not true though is it? He can spend his time doing press work, using his massive wealth to make money on property, all sorts of stuff that would pay him more than we could. Or he could train every day and potentially only make the bench for a relative pittance just to play for his boyhood club.

I watched the Vinny Jones film last night and a point stuck out about one of his ex coaches saying he'd end up at Wealdstone, and Vinny basically said fuck that, he could write for the mirror and make double what he was earning at Wimbledon for 8 columns a year

He also has had several sponsorship deals, before the current one with Puma he was with Nike

I think my point has been missed here.

He's rumoured to be on £75K p/w at Burnley (£3.9m p/a). Compare that to 2 seasons back at Man City, he was rumoured to be on £175K p/w (£9.1m p/a) - now that is a DROP!!

  1. He knows he's in the twilight of his career
  2. He says he wants to retire at United
Let's say he's got 1 season left in him.

Option 1
1 year at Burnley = £3.9m*

Option 2
1 year at United on £25K = £1.3m

At this stage of his career a 60-70% pay cut isn't that significant. If he REALLY wants to come here, he will make the wage work.


*I also wouldn't be surprised if there's a salary drop in his contract?!?
