Was there that day, seems like only yesterday, over 40,000 at the Lane, thanks for the memories Bertđź‘Ť
So was Bert. But his memory tells him it was 38,000...without checking.
What was the attendance for the Watford game Silent Blade?
That photo of Woody's pen. looks as though the ref is guarding the post.!!

Its towards D Woodhouse, GV stretches a long way , TC lived at the end close to Hilltop as i remember. Used to go in the Hyde Park Inn a bit.
TC lived in Ashford Road area (Gosforth Valley) from early 1970s until he left for L**ds . When he came back to us in 1988 he lived in Burns Drive

can remember scullion crashing a shot against our crossbar at lane end that day then we signed him lol
Watford's show out player that day, by a mile. Eddy & Garbett played that match and never showed, how on earth did they finish at Bramall Lane?

He was checking for encroachment into the penalty area just before Woody took the kick
Nah! He was showing off as was his want;), he loved to be the centre of attention.
Liked to see him, made the referees more natural/likeable, good ref, if he hadn't been crowds would have had him for toast.
With his antics he set himself up for ridicule but the fact he was good and stood no nonsense from the players, the crowds loved his eccentricities and went along with it.

Bi heck; cockle man. " Prawns;Cockles; Muscles!". Every Friday and Saturday round our end. Would not be safe for the vendors these days. " Prawns;Cockles; Mus; come back here you little bastards".
Always met with the standard “have you got any mussels on yer cock”
