Congratulations Nigel Clough

I agree that he failed. But in the end he came 1 goal away from getting into the playoff final. This year we are 11th, its comparing chalk and cheese.

It's really not, "1 goal away from getting into the playoff final" is a spurious argument if you watched that semi final. We were awful.

I've stated it before and I'll state it again. He is the only manager to have made progress with United in this division since we came down to this shit hole.
Oh and does anyone truly know why he was sacked. I mean actually tell us what the non footballing reasons were? Not the hearsay, the actual thing that he did wrong?

I thought he'd take Burton up as it was handed to him on a plate and he only just about scraped over the line. Ask their fans.

And I didn't call everyone who liked Clough a simpleton.
Pleeeeease.

It's just not true.

It's all about the name.
You don't get this debating lark do you ,just because you say something doesn't make it true. There are other factors to take in like facts and things.

Not quite as awful as today or the vast majority of the season though in a terrible league! For me Bury away was the turning point, I watched the players body language and I watched Adkins and all he did was sink further into the dugout. Now that is not to say I want him sacked but he has to shoulder all the responsibility.

Give over Pete are you seriously blaming Clough for our current plight? I know you really dislike Clough but the fault of this season lays at the feet of Adkins! Everyone quite rightly blamed Clough for not bringing in a centre half (his biggest mistake), what does Adkins do bring back a player who was quite rightly bombed out and make him our main centre half!! For the way he came in and organised us and the cup runs he deserved to start the season as our manager.
If it isn't personal with Clough and just down to football reasons by your logic you must want rid of Adkins? Woolford Salmon, Hammond and to a lesser extent Edgar have all been far worse signings than any Clough made!

I blame him for the shit and expensive players he brought in yes.

The players that virtually every fan can't wait to be released in the summer.

Adkins has only brought 4 in so I can't blame him for them.

Don't get me wrong, Adkins has completely failed this season but in my eyes Clough doesn't improve purely because his replacement isn't doing very well.

Oh it does.

Which is why Warnock is now the missing Messiah and nobody had a bad word to say about Bassett.

For Clough see Michael Doyle....

Pathetic revisionism from the clique who never wanted Brians son sacked.

Fuck Clough!

He has left us in a right fucking mess.

I also don't for one second think that he wishes us the best, not with his ego and selfish outlook. He tried to blame anyone but himself whilst he was here and did the same at Burton the other week when he said the players don't want to look back and think what they should've done if they were to miss out even though it was his dire, dull and boring tactics what was mostly to blame. I can't stand the bloke and his boring outlook on what should be an entertaining sport.

Nothing against Burton by the way who I hope get rid and then they might stand a chance of staying up, good luck to them.

At home against Swindon? The dirty bastards were aided by a shit ref.

What I remember was a great attacking first half at BDTBL, a lead at half time and then we reverted to the negative shit football typical of the second half of the season. Conceded the advantage and were never in the reckoning at Swindon.

Still, if it suits, blame the referee, Clough being faultless.

Revisionism alive and well.

Tyler why is it a clique? I think if you went to the poll about Clough at the end of last season the vast majority didn't want Clough to be sacked that isn't exactly a "clique". I have not seen one comment form anyone who thought sacking Clough was a mistake making him out to be something special you are clearly making things up to try and suit your argument!

I and many others don't believe we would have had as poor a season had Clough been in charge, lets be honest we got in the top 6 in a stronger division with the same players so the logic suggest some more additions would have seen us up in a very very poor league. For Adkins to take us this far backwards is astounding and disgraceful.

I don't agree that it was a stronger division last year, we needed less points to make the play offs for starters.

Those who are sticking up for Clough and saying he'd have got us in the playoffs, how do you think he'll go on next year when he can put his own stamp on things in the Championship?

If I can get even money for Burton to finish bottom I'm lumping on.

Another one ,'Brians son' well done you. I think Nigel Adkins dad deserves a mention don't you ?
Are you watching Pete ?

Well he entertained me ,a fucking lot more than the manager before and the manager after.

I am not interested in what Clough does in the Championship with Burton we need a manager to get us out of this division ASAP. And I think we would have been a lot closer with Clough in charge this season than we have been.
