I am someone who doesn't call for managers to be sacked. I don't know why, exactly. Probably a rarity in football fans. I think I see it as such a huge upheaval it is better to persist and give a manager more time, because the chances are he'll pull it round quicker than it would take for a new manager to get to grips with things - or just that the risk is too high that the new manager is worse. Either way, he's usually gone before I get that hacked off with someone I want him sacked.
It doesn't mean I think a manager's doing well. I can separate the two things. So I'm not calling for Adkins to be sacked, but I have to say I have never been less impressed. Even Robson didn't make me feel this pessimistic about the future. I can't put my finger on it exactly, but there it is.
Same as the last several seasons, I have nothing but admiration for those who buy season tickets and go and watch the team every second week.
I think my biggest fears regarding any change in manager are a) yet another round of paying people off and b) my biggest fear of the two, the "everyone starts with a clean sheet" syndrome.
Whether it's Adkins or someone else, there needs to be big changes amongst the squad this summer.
Why - in an age where everything is videoed from every angle - does a manager give everyone a "clean slate"? You want a manager to hit the ground running, he should know which players aren't up for it, he should sit through every match video from the previous season, talk to the backroom staff, etc etc.
To be fair to Adkins, he was taking over a team that had done "reasonably" well the season before, but still, after a player has made a mess of his time at the club, why does he get a second chance to mess it up under a new manager?
You kidding? Travis Binnion is more suitableOK then...
'What did he do to cause himself to lose the dressing room?'
actually history shows after 6 years in the wilderness 79 to 85 we moved up back to the championshipHistory suggests we'll not move forward under whoever they appoint anyway.

All kinds of stuff. It's not a hard question. But I can see I'm not going to get an answer. So be it.
You could just say 'I don't know'. Don't worry, nobody will hold it against you.

he could have learned quite a bit by looking at this forum and the comments of those who pay good money to go home and away.
True, which really does make it incredibly frustrating.
If he had any idea at all he wouldn't have made McEveley captain for example.
As I've said before, I don't doubt that NA would have sought the opinions of the backroom staff. The Clough fan club - the ones Clough used to build his dynasty - would have been pissed off with their benefactor being sacked. However, Morgs was still around. If he was asked about the setup, fitness levels and tactics he would probably have said to NA 'Absolutely fine, boss. Everything's in place.'
However, if he'd told the truth, Adkins would have been entitled to respond with 'So why the fuck didn't you say anything to Clough?'
He probably thought it better to keep schtum and slide off to Chesterfield. But this doesn't excuse Adkins' total unpreparedness when he first took over. You're right - it's all on video, fitness levels are monitored, stats are readily available (graphs are out thereand, yes, he could have learned quite a bit by looking at this forum and the comments of those who pay good money to go home and away. Surely better than seeking advice from the very people who've got us in this shit in the first place?), so this 'everybody starts with a clean slate' is, basically, bollocks and has resulted in the utter waste of this season. It's the last refuge of the waffler, as are NA's interviews. He was appointed on June 2, 2015 and the first game/debacle was at Gillingham on 8th August. That's nine weeks with no forward planning or preparation done and the 4-0 result showed that. He 'hit the ground sinking'.
Will NA have learned and take a new change of approach into 2016-17? I see absolutely no signs that he will.

Not sure Division 3 games are videoed from more than one angle except for when they're on the telly. (Are they?)
Imo Adkins did exactly the right thing for any number of reasons in assessing the squad. Can't believe it's even a discussion.

1 no one wanted themGo on then. I am more than likely on ignore but please let me know maybe 5 of the any number of reasons to assess the squad.

but all managers are punts , thats why try another hes forced to find a good one one dayI was quite clearly referring to the current board, what is the point in using an example from that far back in history to say it has any bearing on the shortcomings of our current board's managerial appointments?
i'd be sympathetic to Adkins but i don't trust his judgement.. mceveley captain?? obsession with hammond?? bringing billy off at OT?I remember fans calling for warnocks head before he won promotion. It takes time. Weve had 5 years in this league, only one under Adkins lets give him some time ffs
Not anymore, eh....................................previous typo; not so quiet anymoreQuite what?
