Thanks. Still no idea who he is though! Despite us being in this division for so long, I know nothing of lower league players other than our own. (I'm guessing he's a lower league player but don't recognise the kit.)

I took a bit of a guess, i recognised the shirt and badge straight away (way too much Football Manager I'm afraid). On the basis that he and Chris Porter are the only ones I can think of though, I took a punt and hoped Porter wasn't coming back

Moncur's a bit of a nutter. Alex Gilbey is the one I'd rather us look at. He's had good reviews and is of the right profile being 6 foot+ and young. Also scored a few goals from midfield.

Who does really? How do you find out? You can only watch them twice a season against us, maybe the odd televised games and the highlights on 'Goal Rush'. Can't be doing with these 'we should sign...,' posts, especially when there's a specific 'player suggestion' option on the Rumours forum.

Difficult to know really isn't it. Most of the ones I've heard of is because of my FM addiction. And clearly you can't use that, it's like saying because I'm as bald as Jason Statham I'm going to be a slapper magnet like he is, which trust me is not the case!

As other posters have said there is no such thing as free transfers, agents fees, wages and other costs we are not privy to will be a cost to the club.

Perhaps its fair to assume that in the abscence of a transfer fee, it pushes the other fees up much higher.

I agree you can't say with any certainty. It tends to come from a combination of reading opinion pieces, seeing them in highlights shows, seeing them against us and the occasional other game. Hardly a comprehensive scouting report but it's possible to gain some insight into the profile of the player, their strengths and weaknesses etc.

As for Gilbey. Seem to remember him scoring a screamer against Donny earlier in the season and reading an interview with his manager who reckons he'll go onto play in the Prem. Apparently he also played well against us at their place. On that basis, taking into account his age and position, it's a yes from me.

If Adkins does his job right and the evidence of the past few weeks is positive, he will build a 'team' not a collection of random players that will work together and play for the shirt. You don't need the most expensive players, just look at Leicester, you decide the system and buy the players accordingly.
We have the core of a good team but probably need about 5/6 players.
