Another stinker of a performance from Done today I thought. Really not been impressed with him recently or all season really.

He's non-existent defensively and offers nothing going forward, even though that's meant to be what he's good at. Can't beat a player and his delivery is usually poor - that's when he actually looks to be direct instead of turning backwards or coming inside. There were a few times where he bottled tackles today as well, which is unacceptable.

It's not like he's being played out of position either. He's played as a left-back and a winger all his career.

Yeh - he does a lot of running and I appreciate that people like a 'trier' but he's simply not good enough.

Very limited player and very much a weak-link for me. I'd look to offload in the summer, as he's definitely not good enough for where we want to be.

What are his goals and assists stats this season?

Suppose he's not the only one though.

I much prefer Woolford at left wing back and that's saying something. Done is decent up front and puts away chances that come his way and harries defenders, but that's it. He's not a left back. Never was, that's why they moved him

He was always an average to poor player as a winger. That's why it was a revelation when he moved up front and started knocking them in - and that's why we signed him.

Shouldn't be surprised about his performances there. That's his standard.

I belive we will revert to 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1 next season once Baptiste goes back. Assuming Sharp stays I am not sure where Done fits in to that.

His CV of Rochadale , Barnsley , Rochadale should tell us everything .

I hope we continue with the 3-5-2 next year and that means replacing done. He's been the best choice we've had to fill that slot so no complaints from me, just one of the many areas we need to strengthen in the summer

Totally agree. It's taken/wasted an entire season but it's becoming clear who is surplus to requirements. Done is one. Flynn is another and Hammond is a definite 'thanks, but no thanks'. I've no confidence that NA will act in this way. Everybody knew we have needed a CB, going back to Clough's days. Now it's increasingly obvious that we haven't the personnel to put on the bench who could be brought on to make a difference. Calvert-Lewin? Hardly. Reed is keen but not up to it. Cuvelier? Just don't see what NA sees in him. Sammon? Fuck me! This situation has arisen 100% because of Adkins. He might be a cunt, but McNulty would surely be better emloyed on our bench than Portsmouth's?

Agree about Done,he was shocking today...never put in a decent cross, usually hits the first defender, took the wrong option all to often, misread a number of 50/50's and just dived in...don't know what he was thinking when he had the chance first half ,but just passed it to their player to clear..should have buried it...Bash was ok on the other side, but again,no decent balls in from him either.

Yes he's played as a left midfielder for most of his career, he's also been average for most of his career when played there.

However the 12-18 months he played as a striker he did exceptionally well and weighed in with a lot of goals.

We then decided to play him back in a position where he's been average at for most of his career.

[QUOTE="Dnblade, post: 988635, member: 8913"never put in a decent cross,.[/QUOTE]
Except the great one along the floor which flashed across the edge of the six yard box and only needed a touch?

The cross that went behind everyone? Wa's a tricky place to get a cross in from, but the delivery wasn't good.

this is an easy one
matt done bang average left back/ wing back is tried at CF and starts banging goals in for fun s much so that he is bought by sheffield united where he starts banging goals in and becomes a fans favourite. gets injured and loses place in team under mysterious circumstances
new manager comes in who immediately buys tried and tested CF whi he knows well. matt done returned to left wing back. Result inevitable

He had a bad game ,get over it ,everytime a player has a bad game he is shit ,never any good ,waste of money ,blah blah dee blah. he was also up against the best player on the pitch today in Scowen. He would be well worth a look at on todays performance.

He's not a left wing back in a month of Sundays. Impact sub to replace Sharp or Adams when they aren't at the races.

He's a front man, a striker, not a winger.

The only issue I have with Done is that he seems to have lost a yard or 2 of pace.

We stopped playing him as a striker. He stopped playing well.

In fairness, we stopped playing him as a striker because he on the whole wasn't playing well as a striker this season. He only in fact got back into the team after the formation change when Woolford was injured.

For me, the jury's still out on whether he's actually a decent striker or whether he simply went on a Michael Brown esque anomaly year in front of goal at Rochdale.

We haven't got a bench because we've had to trim a vastly bloated squad that has blown the budget. That is 100% because of Clough, not Adkins.

No, as Barney pointed out, we bought him as a striker, he's played well as a striker.

We stopped playing him as a striker. He stopped playing well.
Speaking as a huge fan last season, he's looked utterly rubbish when played in an advanced role this season. He certainly hasn't earned a place in front of Sharp or Evans.

How can anyone criticise Matt Done. Playing out of position and has been most of the season yet consistently giving everything an being one of our better players. If we had another 10 players like him we'd be promoted by now.
