Could the play offs be still on?

Nope. We will lose at the weekend. And I won't care. I gave up on caring a few weeks ago*

Instead I'll be on the piss in York, convenientaly forgetting to look at my phone for the score because I'll be too busy suppin ale and laughing at very tired, very old jokes with my old school mates, just like we do every year.

*If we're still in with a shout on the last day I will care very much indeed, and if we make the playoffs I will potentially be more pissed than I will be in York (and that is predicted to be VERY pissed)

If we did get to the final I'm not sure I could get too excited about being promoted at the 5th time of asking anyway

I'd be relieved as much as excited. But if we did fluke it and go up, how shit will this have been for a promotion season?

There could still be a slim chance of the play-offs, as Gillingham could be the ones to drop out. If we beat Gillingham at home on Saturday, we would only be 6 points behind them. And their run-in isn't easy:

Blades away (8th)
Walsall home (3rd)
Port Vale home
Rochdale away
Shrewsbury home
Burton away (2nd)
Millwall home (6th)

So, even though Millwall and Southend were seen as our last chances, could Gillingham be our real our final shot?
over the last few seasons we have been a nearly club, nearly won this nearly won that, I predict we will win a few games & nearly make the play offs

We all know what will happen: in classic Blades style they'll put in a couple of decent performances and get our hopes up, then, when we're at our most optimistic they'll shit all over it.

I'll tell you what though, I want us to smash Gillingham so much, to make up for that embarrassment at the start of the season.

Optimistic?

You are talking about United aren't you?

What about the DVD of Nigel's interviews. Comes with a free David Icke DVDs and WHF's book of humour.
:D

He's now telling people not to spend time on the internet if they don't like other peoples opinions, i was laughing my bollocks off at that one.

If we have no possibility why is there a thread about it ,why are people analysing it ,why is it 4 pages long ?

Don't want to piss on anybody's hopes, . . . But. . . . .
Win one "We can make play offs?"
Lose one "Sack the wage stealing players!"
Win one "Hey if we get a few more wins?"
Lose one "Sack the clueless manager!"
Win one "It's not impossible is it?"
Lose one "Get that wanker McCabe out"
Win one We can still do this can't we?
Lose one "Sack the fuckin lot of em!"

Need I go on?

We've played 40 games and by my calculations Adkins should have been sacked at least 14 times but conversly he should have been handed a blank cheque book and vote a of confidence 16 times.

As above we need to win about 6/6 and lack consistency.

That said in each game we play, I wouldn't be surprised if United aren't favourites with the bookies in 5/6 of them, Coventry away the exception.

Threads like this help you to lose grasp of reality temporarily.

Never mind everyone else. We need to win 7 games on the spin including Walsall. We're struggling to string two together.

Best case we'll win all our home games.

Then we have to win 3 games away when haven't we won only 5 all season.

It would be a refreshing change but there's probably little chance.

We've got the chance to get rid of the dross for once, be the Blades way to get up via the play offs when it looks so unlikely and then get stuck with the dross again.

I was only thinking last night that a couple of books like "Self awareness for beginners" or "How to lose a Superiority Complex in ten easy steps" might make him a good Xmas present.

Only joking WHF. Forum would be diminished without ya.

Anyway, on topic. NO.

No ....... too much to make up, too few games left ....... we've given too little too late.
Regrettably, another season of self-imposed exile :(

You would have to laugh at the fact that it took 45 more games to finally catch the mighty Gillingham. The chances are we actually won't.

It is just asking far to much, Gillingham are 9 points ahead of us and +16 goal difference better with 7 games left, we have 6. Even if we do beat which i think we will, we will still be 6 points behind them with only 5 games to go when they will still have 6. Plus are you just forgetting about Dingles sat in 7th also with a game in hand, Yes they also have to come to the lane but lets be honest both Gillingham and Dingles can afford for us to beat them because they have that extra game. We would need to win all 6 games in my opinion to have any chance which basically means forget it, not only have we not looked like putting a run together all season we would also need to win 8 out of 9 to win promotion, i'd rather us fail now than yet another playoff disaster.

Dingle's run in

Chesterfield (H)
Oldham (H)
Burton (A)
Peterborough (H)
Blades (A)
Colchester (H)
Wigan (A)

Chesterfield nearly safe, Oldham fighting but its at home, Burton showing signs of a wobble, Peterborough nothing to play for, Colchester will be relegated by then and Wigan will still be pissed from there Promotion party. If anyone can catch Gills it Dingles, we might catch Gillingham but we won't catch Dingles as well.

yes cant remember millwall collapsing into a bad run since ooooh , last season

Well, we picked up the moment Holloway was sacked and would have probably stayed up with a few more games to play!

But, not sure what a relegation season in the Championship has to do with a promotion chasing one in League One with different players regarding form anyway.

its a funny old game though football, the year doncaster won the title teams were losing games all over the place and everyone was bunched together in a low point scoring end to the season for all the protagonists
teams at the top lose to teams at the bottom theres no predictable results

we probably have left ourselves too much ,to do , but crazier things have happened before

theres no difference
you played 46 last year
your playing 46 this

you cant say neither can I , what any result is going to be,
you may power home , you could collapse

who saw Derby go from top at easter to missing out on the play offs all together last season

Is it possible? Yes, of course it is. Is it likely? No, of course it isn't.

we have to win the next six straight.. the pigs once did it if i remember correctly.. 76 points would be enough to get to the playoffs for the last few years..(so we'll end up with another record.. highest number of points but still missed out on playoff.. if we don't have it already)
