Initially I thought he was an excellent choice of manager. But I'm afraid of late I'm re assessing that opinion. So to sack or not to sack? That is the question.
If he stays, will he be allowed to get rid of the dross we currently have and strengthen significantly. Well lets assume he will be allowed to get rid of the dross (I doubt he will be allowed but never the less) look at who he has already brought in. With the exception of Billy, crap!. What's to say he wont bring in even more crap?
But if he goes.............look who is choosing his replacement and look at his record for our last ten managers.
Neil Warnock 2 December 1999 16 May 2007 Sacked or allowed to leave, either way, IMHO, huge mistake in allowing him to go. Im certain we would nt be in the mess we are in now with him at the helm for longer.
Bryan Robson 22 May 2007 14 February 2008 . Absolute playing and financial disaster
Kevin Blackwell 14 February 2008 14 August 2010. Hoof but took us to Play off final and then sacked at start of following season in knee-jerk reaction
Gary Speed 17 August 2010 14 December 2010 . Left to further his career. RIP and God Rest his soul.
John Carver 15 December 2010 30 December 2010 One match in charge. Would he have been good for us. we ll never know.
Micky Adams 30 December 2010 12 May 2011 . Oh dear , oh dear , oh dear.
Danny Wilson 27 May 2011 10 April 2013 Took us to play off final. Following season when in a good enough league position sacked in April.
David Weir 10 June 2013 11 October 2013 Disaster
Nigel Clough 23 October 2013 24 May 2015 Top six finish and two cup semi s. Sacked
So Kev has been responsible for the hiring and firing of the managers who have taken us into this downward spiral. He has sacked or allowed good managers to go. And then appointed clueless ones in their place. I realise people will have differing views on who was and who was nt a good choice of manager. But I dont hold out much hope that his next decision, to sack Adkins or to keep him, will be the right one. And if he does sack him I dont hold out much hope that he will make the right choice for a new manager.
To paraphrase Woody Allen:
“The Blades are facing a crossroad - one road leads to despair and utter hopelessness and the other to total extinction - I sincerely hope you McCabe, choose the right road”
