People are in complete meltdown, granted Adkins made some poor subs as well tonight but the result does nothing to mask the fact the board are to blame for this season. Mostly loan players, one which not even the manager wanted and then in January we get promised some signings that never happened.

We all knew in the JTW the board had given up yet every other club managed to push on.

Apart from Sammon who I still don't think was Adkins signing and Woolford I actually think Adkins has not done that bad signing wise. Especially when its clear the club were not letting him really get anything other than loan players in when McCabe said we wouldn't rely on loan players.

Hammond may have scored but it was his sloppy pass once again that cost us possession and lead to the crucial 2nd goal. He's done this a number of times this season. I don't question his attitude or application but his unwillingness to move the ball forward quickly combined with him sitting 5 yards in front of the back 3 when we don't have the ball and inviting the oppo to shoot makes him a real "no thank you" for me next season. His legs have gone. Pure and simple. He was in his day probably a decent defensive midfielder. Now he's just a liability. We have enough of those already

Probably more important that the management identifies players that would improve our squad and the Board supports the signings. Clearly not happening, with little obvious attention paid to lower league players. Payne is one example.

I was referring to the last two transfer windows this year.

I've been listening to Directors at this club for long enough to know their announcements are deliberately vague. I'm surprised others fall for it year in year out to be honest. I said at the time the "money would be spent on the team" re Murphy wasn't going to mean on transfer fees, and I wasn't the only one.

As far as I'm concerned that performance whilst there was a slim hope left showed everything that is wrong with the first team. No coherent passing, no ability to keep the ball, no one moving to space when off the ball, ponderous movement, shocking defending. The late great Brian Clough always said strikers win matches defenders win championships. You can't get consistency from strikers but you can from the defence. Clough junior proved that in his first season where we won games 1 nil or got a draw here and there from the defence holding out. We all screamed out fir a decent replacement for Harry Maguire but nothing happened despite Wembley Appearances, Semi Finals and away televised cup game at Old Trafford which could not have been budgeted for. All this extra revenue flushed down the toilet to the point where the biggest club in league 1 can't get promoted in March.

The future looks bleak also. The board have obviously decided to get as many academy kids in as possible. That's great if it's because they are good enough and can be developed without affecting results. However it seems to be a cost option as academy players are cheap. So the downward spiral will continue. Results suffer crowds finally start to drop, leading to less revenue leading to cheaper and cheaper players. I have lost a lot of hope with club when I have always been a glass half full with the club.

I think it would be a joint failure, if we can see he's useless then the board must see it too and so should Adkins, but we know Adkins like's him so will probably push the board to agree to make him a permanent deal.
