What a f*cking Mess

I'm old enough to have watched a United side drop into the old division four but this side are worse than that one, I can say without a doubt this is the worst set of players to EVER pull on a United shirt if that is what you can call that white abortion

Really !!!
I remember it as well that team was worse by a distance

Grappler mate I totally agree. I was horrified by the mention of both Parky and Tango, insisting Adkins was the man. Good job I'm not appointing managers at BDTBL. If I was I'd be leading the chants of "Me Out!"

When you look at what Adkins has brought into the club that is feckin scary

You mean like signing the player that is our top scorer with 17 goals despite how shite the rest of the squad is? Also a player that scored a goal tonight despite the shit he gets.

Apart from Sammon who I still don't think was Adkins signing and Woolford I actually think Adkins has not done that bad signing wise. Especially when its clear the club were not letting him really get anything other than loan players in when McCabe said we wouldn't rely on loan players.

...and what makes you think he has a plan??

Any tactical plan went out of the window due to being outwitted by the opposition manager ( again ) . That's the biggest worry . Would it be same with a complete new set of players.

We chucked everything complete with the kitchen sink with no real plan . Bit of a last panic go , at Southend . Just now confirms what we really have known since January. Final finish position in the league 17th.

And to think all the lads on here scoffed when Phil Brown and Phil Parkinson were mentioned as potentially candidates, "no, we want Nigel Adkins" (including me)

me too, I think some ill chosen words about Parkinson to some Bradford mates when he was linked with us last summer are gonna come back to haunt me.

I disagree MB but there's little doubt that we aren't that much better. Currently on course for our 6th season and longest stay in this division together with the second worse finish/season in our entire 127 year history and we are asked to be "patient" along with our Kev calling it "disappointing" and "frustrating". We may need stability and this is predominantly not Adkins team but as the season has progressed he has shown us absolutely FUCK ALL when it comes to hope that he knows what he's doing and has what it takes. He's done it before. So fucking what? So had Danny Wilson and he was fired with us in 5th place. Another manager who can't recognise a shit defence and sort it. Do we really give him the opportunity to bring in his own shit and set us back another 2/3 years? If this board sanctions a permanent playing contract for Hammond then we are doomed. I wouldn't even give him a job in the laundry room. These are depressing and testing times and with Walsall, Gillingham and Barnsley next up at the lane it could finally turn on Nigel this time

As it now looks nailed on we are in Div 3 next season, we now must be (as I have said before) the biggest club to have have spent the most consecutive seasons in the third tier

from what I've seen so far of Baptiste he looks a good signing. They'd committed to Sammon by all accounts, Woolford has looked poor though as has Hammond (though his goal tonight was well taken). You're probably right about the backing Adkins has had but to be lying in the bottom half now with the resources he has had is ludicrous.

I'm really not sure what I think at the moment.

Yeah but he is surrounded by players most that are not his and that have wanted out since the season started. Although they are obviously happy enough to line their own pocket first before they wander off in the summer.

What I find bizarre is most of the players that are out on loan bar McNuts are hardly pulling up any trees and most are sitting on the bench. That should be a warning to some of the current squad what to expect in the future but I guess not.

The biggest mess tonight was the weak, positionally unaware back three of Basham, McGahey and McEverley who barely won a header between them all night. How anyone expects us to win games with a back line as poor as that is beyond me.
Adkins gets a lot of stick for his signings but we've only one Nigel to thank for them being part of the club and the wages wasted on them.

Exactly.

Not easy to offload a lot of players that you don't want to keep and who no one wants to buy off you. Compounded even more if you have a board that don't want to pay them off early nor let you spend any money in the JTW.

Like in a not sort of like way if you get my drift Graps.

Whatever Adkins had before he has now lost.

He's dragging us further and further down hill just as he dragged Reading down.

The man has no clue what he is doing. He judges players on their previous capabilities and ignores what's happening in front of him time and time again.

People really think this is the man to lead us back to the Championship, mostly because we need stability and to stick with a manager. If we stick with this man I can only see us being saddled with even more old, shit players and heading further and further down the league until we finally drop into league 2.

It says something when McGay ( a lad brought in for pretty much his first game a week ago) looks the best of that bad bunch...none of em near the oppo...few headers won...

He was the right substitution. Made sense. chasing the game and lobbing balls up and he harries defenders. It was 20 minutes too late though.
He doesn't harry defenders though, he doesn't even try to win balls

do they include some of HIS players Hammond, Woolford, Sammon?

You really think Sammon is one of his signings and he is actually going to keep him?

Who is to say we will keep Hammond either at the end of the season? Hammond could have signed for us permanently in January if he wanted to, as Leicester are going to let him go.

You can moan and groan all you like and pull to pieces what and who you want.
The Sharp miss was the turning point of the game.
Score that and the game in my opinion would have taken a different slant in Uniteds favour. All these stupid references to isil should be siezed upon by the regulators as they have no place in our culture or sport and in forums at all and they should be thrown out.
Where is the dislike button.
Payne is one of the best midfielders in this division. Question is, why isn't he playing for us? Answers on a post card!
Answered your own question. Why would he want to come here and see shit players get chances ahead of him?

People are in complete meltdown, granted Adkins made some poor subs as well tonight but the result does nothing to mask the fact the board are to blame for this season. Mostly loan players, one which not even the manager wanted and then in January we get promised some signings that never happened.

We all knew in the JTW the board had given up yet every other club managed to push on.

What about Adkins inability - yet again - to counter Browns tactical changes ? It's happened so many times this season.

His failure to move a load of shit players around, or replace them by more shit players?

If only Sammon / Woolford / Reed had come on sooner....:D

My recollection is that the only person who suggested signings - did anyone promise them? - was Adkins. Who up to tonight hadn't given up and has always been totally upbeat despite the reality of the situation.

He should have brought Reed on. I can see why he brought DCL on.

As for the rest its like picking which toe you want removing.

His continuing failure to counter opposition changes. It's been much more costly than his shitgrin interviews.

Not or me. We are rubbish throughout, and no formation can counter it.

My concern over Adkins is in his ability to spot, and procure what's needed. The signs aren't good. The evidence so far is chequered;

Woolford - my word....but cheap.
Hammond.....Fuck me
Sharp.....It's a hit
Edgar - 50 / 50
Sammon - Pray to God it really was Clough's signing.

Anyway, that's my worry. ;)
