We did have chances and we could have won it. The problem was the players gave up in the end and you could see it in their attitude with 20 minutes left.

It's not all the managers fault when our two STRIKERS miss the two best chances in the match.

"it was a good game from our point of view" is the phrase I take a major objection to. It was pitiful how we gave up in the 2nd half. I would be ashamed to pick up my wage if I was one of many of that first team this evening!

I agree with two of the three statements, but to say we had a good game? wow..........just wow

Good managers and good coaches invariabley practice those situations over and over, create ruthless teams and players that take their chances. If they miss a chance, they remain calm, stay in the game until another chance comes along. It's what you might call managing and preparing a team.

Occasionally you'll have games in a season and lose one or two due to missed chances, but it doesn't happen every week if the manager and coaches are actually good at their job.

End of season review from Adkins "we finished in our lowest league position for over 30 years but we created lots of chances, showed endeavor and if we had just stuck it in the back of the next we'd have been promoted'

So it's all OK then. If Sharp and Adams had scored it would all be OK. The only problem I have with that is if Southend had scored all their straightforward chances the final score would have been 8-3

A good game from our point of view? In what way shape or form is a shit mid-table side's 3-1 defeat against a team promoted from League 2 a "good game" from any point of view?

He said he hasnt given up on the play offs too. Phil Brown meanwhile, who sits above us, has said the play offs won't happen for his team

1st game of season in August.
George Long error and appalling defence costs us the game.

Fast forwarded to the end of March the same is still happening and we're consigned to a 6th season in league 1.

We're not where we are because of strikers missing chances.

Tonight we were shocking from the off. The 3rd minute of the game a dodgy pass from mceverly puts a panicking basham under pressure who gets booked for a clumsy but dangerous tackle. Why can't he come out with a bit more integrity and give us some hope that he can see where we're weak and have been all season but he will improve it in the summer. He's not helping himself post match.

Thought the interview between Brown and Holloway at the end was good footie talk compared to our normal Adkins spin.

How about this corker that he followed up with. FFS.

Boss NA refusing to concede the play off push is over: "You'll never hear me give up."

I thought we were decent enough til they went 2-1 up.

Sharp and Adams were linking up well and causing them a few problems but then heads dropped among some and we started going through the motions. Its the drop off from some of the players in the squad that surprises me and thats a sign that some of these players know they have no future here even if we could have made the play offs.

I have given McEverly credit recently as i thought he had improved no end but tonight he was pretty awful at times.

"It was a good game from our point of view"

Does that comment constitute gross misconduct?

What a feckin insult to the fans, particularly those that went because tv rights come before the fans
It bleedin would if I was gaffer . It was a good game from our point of view ?!?!?!?!
I really cannot listen to or stand this bollox that Adkins comes out with - could be the death of him as regards future at the lane

Phil Brown meanwhile, who sits above us, has said the play offs won't happen for his team
apparently he said that to them at one point last season and it took the pressure off and actually had the effect of spurring them on.

Che's fantastic run should've finished with a goal
Broke to Hammond who pulled back a great ball.and Che put it over
Billy's miss
and no-one's mentioned Adams hit the post from about 2 inches before their third - don't know if it was possible to score but it looked like it from where I was

We also had 5 or 6 shots on target first half

Plenty wrong tonight - but plenty right too

DCL skill.and left foot shot and Whiteman's passing.

He looked knackered at the end.

Yeah I imagine it was mind games but the interviews I heard came straight after each other. Adkins saying we were still in the play off hunt then Brown saying they didnt have a chance. Quite funny how I heard it

Exactly it wasn't all wank just the scoreline.

The game was there to be won and we fluffed our chances good style. I didn't think we had that much to do defensively til the second half but that was when they changed their shape.

The bit I heard was in the preamble before the game. Didn't bother with the interviews after but from what you say I can imagine it made Adkins sound delusional

They'd been cutting inside Done all night and the way the second came wasn't a.big surprise.

I think McEveley would ordinarily have stayed back at the end and he would've dealt with their forward but he was sent forward.

Missed.chanced have been a big problem all.season but particularly in recent games.

Don't think it's the end of the world but we have to recruit well in the summer.

I have to stop watching us on Sky because from where I was sitting we were pants for most of the second half. In every department we were second best.

How can it be a good game from our point of view when we got stuffed 3-1? I think you've fallen on your sword pal.
