Could this guy play as a right winger? I think so. He's got great pace and can cross a ball. He can beat players and cut inside and have a go for goal. I think Robson should try this idea.

He can run like billy-o, but his passing is a little wayward. Stick him on the right wing and you've a fair chance of several spectators on the Kop doing vampire impressions - killed by crosses.

No matter who you played on the right wing you have to ask one important question. Can they do a better job than the current first choice winger - Keef? If the answer is no, then all this talk of replacing him is as much use as chocolate trousers.
Personally I don't think Shelton is the answer on the right wing, unless the question is "Who can run up and down for little or no result?"
Stead may be able to do a job, especially cutting in to attack the goal directly, but would he put in as many crosses as Gillespie? And if Beattie is the type of player to thrive on crosses then why are we cutting that option out in favour of a player who can cut in, and thus removing a source of passes for our top scorer?
Who else did anybody have in mind? Tonge? At the moment, no. Any others contenders capable of doing a better job in this position than Gillespie? Thought not.

If shelton had the finish on him, he would be a top striker, i think he needs more practise up front to get his finish up, and if that fails then stick him on the wing, but he can give a good finish

And if my Auntie had bollocks then she'd be my uncle. If beer were 50p a pint I'd not be here typing this. And if Shelton had the finish on him then he'd have cost a lot more money and it would have been paid by a bigger club than us. But he hasn't. End of.

whats point of sticking shelton in up front if hes not scoring to "give him a chance" when stead is also on the bench and grabbed a few goals.

back to stead as a winger, Hes got pace and can put some great crosses in, I.E away at blackpool, put it on BTs head. Keef should be putting more crosses in. As you say stead can always cut in for a shot so id give him a go.

But you dont change a winning team so he will have to wait :D

Carney is the best crosser on the team and other than one or two decent balls from keef, the best deliveries from the right have come from Brombs and Bardsley, so it should be looked into, although i'd rather play Webber out wide, as that would create room for Stead to come in upfront

Webber is relishing his run in the team up front. Why take this away from him?

Shelton can cross? I must be thinking of a different player.

You cant compare that to this league we are in!

They were very very very poor teams

Me too. He is very good at creating chances/setting up goals. Get him in for Gillespie.

As soon as we get an unbeaten run together why do people want to change things?

shelton has not been scoring. Why in gods name should we play him if we are unbeaten with him not playing?

Lets disrupt the team by bringing shelton in to "get a feel" for this league. Who cares about winning and getting points on the board we want shelton to play!

On that video you posted, the defending is really poor on it, for instance the first video clip of him scoring, if the defender was any good he had a clear chance to tackle shelton but opted not to.

Shelton is worth a punt as a sub but nothing else.

I wouldn't want to disrupt the starting 11.

look what happened when robbson was forced to change the startin 11...we got a good keeper and look at how well hes done for us

bet we aren't forced to change the front 2 are we? stead is above shelton in the pecking order anyhow.

stead on the wing?

Stead played on the wing for Derby when he was on loan there, and he was pretty crap - I saw him a fair few times with my missus. This is why I wasn't convinced when we signed him.

However, as a striker, I think he's hard to beat. I just don't think we should be trying to fit square pegs into round holes.

If we want more wingers, we should buy or loan more wingers - don't try and turn one of our better and more talented front-men into something they're not.

All this about not changing a winning side - fair enough but we're not really winning convincingly are we? Webber has been awesome the last few games but for me he's the only shining light. We don't have any decent wingers at the moment, not one that has a go at full-backs or delivers consistently good crosses. Our central midfield is more like a 2nd line of defense and nothing more. There's no link up between half-way and the forwards except for when Webber drops back in. For those of you that will inevitably jump in and say something whimsical like "ee there's no pleasing some folk" well just have a look at the next time we're building an attack and look where the CMs are. Count how many times our "wingers" even try to beat a man on the outside. Beattie may well get 30 goals this season but unless we get someone like Tonge or Quinn back in form, Carney up to speed, and someone down the right with pace and a good touch, we'll finish mid-table with the division's top scorer. I'm amazed by Beattie and chuffed that he's cutting it for us but I can't help thinking the £4m and £25k a week should've been spent on sorting out our entire midfield.

I'm not buying into the "Colin Kazim-Richards - a great piece of business" bollocks either. I'd kill for someone like him right now.

I know virtually nobody will agree with me here so I'd prefer to leave it until I'm proven or disproven. I hope I'm disproven and we can start turning unconvincing wins into good, solid performances with plenty of chances and a few goals coming from other sources but I can't see it. Can anyone here tell me if any of our midfielders will score more than 2 or 3 goals this season?

Agreed in most points TA,

There is no link between the Midfield and Attack, it is more Defence to Attack, which is apparently what Robbo is trying to get away from.

It's hard to break up a team that isn't losing though, and although I thought Carney had a shocker on Sat, I don't think it is time to drop him. On the same note, Keef hasn't performed really for over a year now, but his performances have been a lot better in the last few games than we have seen previously.

I love both Monty and Armstrong, but I believe both are too defensive minded to work for a long period, HOWEVER it is has stabilised in the short term.

I firmly believe Tonge has no future for the Blades, a move will do him the world of good, but he isn't the answer.

We do need to get a midfielder in, IF we are to be wanting to play "football"
