Yet seems to think repeating the same lies he's been called out on over and over again will slip through the net.

Adkins was appointed in June. He had no control over pre-contract agreements, the retained list or the size of the squad he inherited.

lies what lies
he got the same any manager gets better than 19 others got , a squad that finished 5th remember was hardly a busted flush
and carte blanche to select who could come and go

http://www.sufc.co.uk/news/article/sheffield-united-nigel-adkins-2493096.aspx

Adkins added: "We want to enhance the group with the right players at the right time, we want to unite the Club and have everyone on and off the field pulling in the same direction.

"If we can make the right decisions in that regard, then we give ourselves an opportunity to be successful, but we would never rule out using the loan market at some point throughout the season."

pity he never found the right time to enhance , he didnt put I cant enhance it ,,,, did he

Don't forget he inherited a lot of injured players so he either couldn't move them on because of that, or couldn't move other players on as they were filling in for injured players.

He's done garbage this season, no one can deny that, but he was dealt a really shitty hand.
all clubs have injuries
he was given the opportunity to assess the squad move some out move some in , he didnt
he lost Murphy to ambition as all clubs lose players down here to ambition
he never replaced him

A squad that finised on 71 ponts. He lost the best player from that squad at the start of the season. He also was without the 2nd best player til December.

Does anyone trust this Board to give the manager a budget that's essential to improve the squad or one where he'll have to sell to attain a percentage?

I think the JTW might have been the signal of intent for any future dealings whilst in L1.

I wouldn't trust this Board to do the weekly shop for me at the moment !!

Their stewardship has been littered with poor decisions and under resourcing ( regardless of what figures they spout ) and they need to "step up to the plate" or admit that the job is too big for their limited knowledge.

Exactly. I believe Sammon coming to us was arranged by Clough and Brannigan. I have been told that a number of players have agreed to come to us as arranged by Dave Green/ Nigel Adkins and Turnbull had been watching them. Adkins now has full control for this Summer recruitments unlike last summer

Clough had us about 4 points or so better off at this stage last season. And it was his squad. And he had Jamie Murphy and his own loan players (Holt/Davies etc.). Considering that, why do you think he would have got us up this season? I’d say he would have performed similarly to Adkins. Maybe a couple of points or so better off with more 1-0s. Never 2 up front, never looking for the 2nd or 3rd goal. Probably scrambling for that sixth spot with the rest of the pack but perhaps slightly better placed.

Yes it's true Clough had Jamie Murphy but it was Clough who made Murphy into our best player. Maybe it wasn't ambition that prompted Murphy to want to leave. More of he didn't think the new management team knew what they were doing.

Im sorry but Adkins was given a full summer and a JTW to adjust his squad, , he wasnt told he couldnt bring in any players
and lumbered with players he was lumbered with players who had finished in the play offs , that had been better than 19 other clubs
his remit was to tweak it to get better
miserable failure on Adkins part to get in players
If Warnock can get Rotherham to get 16 points from 18 with players he was lumbered with whats Adkins excuse

Brilliant last line. I await the pro-Adkins camp to come up with an answer.

I don't get that though surely Adkins could have turned round and said "no I don't want that useless cunt"

Is it a pro Adkins camp? Or is it an anti sacking another bastard manager camp?

Or even a looking at the bigger picture camp?

Believe it when I see it . Let's hope Green , Adkins and Turnbull is the winning formula . No excuse next season for Adkins , his team , his players .

Adkins inherited a squad in which many players hadn't done a pre season and were not fit enough to perform adequately. Some of these players were long term injured or suffering with continual niggles (Brayford, Scougall, Coutts, James Wallace etc). In this environment, promotion was a pipe dream - especially after the injury to Done and sale of Murphy. The board have the option of hiding behind the performance of Adkins, or saving the money and enhancing the squad. Our financial advantage over other clubs will not be as big as it should be, even next season, due to the colossal wages (by league one standards) tied up in very average league one players such as Basham and Coutts. If the manager and staff are paid off, our natural advantage will take a further, huge blow. Jim Phipps wasn't lying when he said three more transfer windows...

Warnock is excellent when it comes to making silk purses from sows’ ears. Better than Adkins for sure. But to suggest we should sack any manager who can’t gain immediate success when dealt a shitty hand is a huge leap to make from conceding he’s not as good an impact manager as Warnock who’s man management skills are immense (though he does have other failings). The impact a manager has with the players he inherits is only part of the criteria on which to judge performance. The rest is still to come. I’m not saying Adkins has done well, just that he’s had limited opportunity so far and before we get rid, let’s at least give him a proper chance. Although I have my reservations about whether the summer backing will represent a proper chance. One thing I know for sure though is that if we sack him and appoint somebody else, we’ll have the following problems

a) The replacement will have an inferior track record. No reason to assume they will be better.

b) The cost of paying him off and possibly paying compo for his replacement will detrimentally affect whatever summer budget there is.

c) Any change in manager now is more likely to grant a lifeline to the wasters we’ve all been so desperate to get rid of for so long.

we finished 5th , better than 19 other clubs
we lost Murphy , who you say is better than Done and Brayford so who did he bring in for him
whos job was it to fill the void

dont get why you bring it up it only enforces the point he hasnt done his job

A, Can any manager better Adkins record of he past 4 seasons, nearly every candidate wed get
B Should we let money stop us ousting a failing manager, or keep blowing our chances
C All the players out of contract wont get renewals, because we change managers

and all the loan players will leave , no bad thing

1. You can't sign a replacement of equal quality when you sell players to championship clubs because shock horror, they want to play in the championship

2. He hasn't been backed (has spent one transfer fee of about a third of the Murphy fee)

3. He's been restricted on free agent signings. Many summer free transfers are negotiated from the previous January onwards as players are allowed to talk to other clubs once they enter the last 6 months of their contract. He didn't have that opportunity so could only pick up loans and whatever was left on the scrap heap (Woolford) whilst also dramatically reducing the inflated squad. If Adkins had had carte blanche to sign 20 odd players like Clough has (including one that cost nearly £2million) and was still failing, I would agree that he perhaps should go. But he hasn't so it's too early to assess. That doesn't mean he hasn't got things wrong, just that he hasn't been given a fair crack at it yet.

He brings it up because those aren't completely dense realise he's not been able to replace players adequately due to restrictions put on him from above.

Why 4 seasons? Why so selective? He has done about the same as anyone else who has managed Reading since (mid-table championship club).

B Should we let money stop us ousting a failing manager, or keep blowing our chances- Most managers will fail if they're not backed. Spending money on sacking managers over and over again instead of backing the ones we have has worked out great for us so far hasn't it?

C All the players out of contract wont get renewals, because we change managers - If they have a honeymoon period under a new manager they might. Flynn and Howard managed to get new deals based on a purple patch in Clough's first season. Even Porter did.

1 I never said equal quality , I said a replacement of any sort
2 again show me a link saying the boards blocked signings , not from blades mad or in here , from the club

As I said, those who aren't dense understand this.

It's no great surprise that you don't.

which is pete speak for I cant post anything as its never been said he cant sign players

any paper article will do saying Adkins told definitely he couldnt sign even a loan signing for free

put up or shut up
shouldnt be hard to find if its universally known as you put it across
