What is the point in paying up a player when he's out of contract in a few months and we could have used him where needed untill then? Mind bogglingly silly.

Because he's like you?

Seriously?

The man is probably one of the worse center backs I've seen pull on a United shirt and how he's made as many appearances as he has is a f**king disgrace!

A traffic cone with a shirt on would do more in a match than Collins, and the man gave me a twitchy arse everytime he touched the ball!

Another thing, what foot was his "strongest" anyway?
He's bad, no doubt about that but we're paying up a player, when 1. keeping him wouldn't have made a difference if he didn't want to play him and 2. he is out of contract in a few months any way. It is very representative of our foolishness.

I think it's fair to say the board have backed Adkins on this one, lets hope we can bring one more in on loan to see if we can finish the season well. This is a very good decision by the club now we have players who can play in that position, albeit loan players, we can address this properly in the summer, hopefully!

Didn't you say it showed a lack of ambition that we didn't pay up the contracts of pretty much the entire squad during the transfer window?

We had the entire season to go. Promotion wasn't as nigh on impossible as it is now. We didn't only have a few months left of the season to go.

I know you know nothing about contracts but there would be a reduction in the amount we paid him now as opposed to your stupid assertion pre season.

Forrest.

Before we get too carried away with glee about all these contracts coming to and end let's see who our board and manager get in as replacements, neither have an outstanding record so far.

If Collins has left the club under these sort of circumstances then I for one am sad for him after these past years of dedicated service. Say what you like about Collins, but he has been 100% committed to the cause and has never given less than his best.

Any relief about him leaving (if he is in fact leaving) should be tempered by the fact that he has not played in the last three away games in which we have conceded 5 goals and gained just the one point in a game last Saturday when our central defenders were blamed for both goals in a game we should have won.

I express my appreciation to a player who has done his best. He has played for us for over 5 years and 177 games (12 goals).

It's a bit disappointing if we send him on his way with ridicule and abuse. Part of playing for a 'big club' I suppose. We are better than him are we?

So that's a yes?
Absolutely. We had the chance to do this type of thing before the start of the season, when we had an entire season to go. Paying a player up when promotion is pretty much impossible, and just a few months before he's out of contract any way is about as ridiculous as it gets.

In answer to your question at the end, WWF, yes we are.

Alternatively, he was one of the main reasons we got relegated in the first place, one of the poorest players we've ever had to reach those sort of appearance stats and has been the one consistent factor in our 5 years demise. And plenty of times he didn't give 100% and gobbed off blaming others.
