As one of the few women that post on this forum I too am often shocked at the language and comments posted on here. However I know that this is a place where people can let off steam after yet another dismal match/ season/ transfer window. I know the majority of you are male and I accept that your choice of language is not mine.
If I find something too offensive I don't read it, which is a shame because I enjoy reading Pommpey's rants but often can't get past his choice of words :(
I do think that, read back before you post , is a good piece of advice but I recognise that some posts are made in the heat of the moment.

You dont have to tell me, I had a rocky start to relationship here because I made a few grammar mistakes which can happen as ive always struggled with English & way I was ganged up on you'd have thought id threatened to punch someone mum in the face

& sorry for your loss hope your feeling better

You raise a good point and sorry for your loss Newbury. I've had my fair share of personal abuse on here, fortunately for the vast majority I haven't been tempted into matching nor returning any of it. Unfortunately, when I brought up the point about the abuse that gets thrown around in here, I was met with more and accused of whinging to the moderators. It is a problem and not to delve too much into anything I've said before, but I'd like to think a bit more of a stronger stance ought to be taken to deter the re occurrence of any of it in the future.

IMO Barney you do have many valid points but sometimes you don't half get mardy and rabbit on and you take this forum and (as I have said before) yourself on it, far too seriously.

If you don't mind my saying so ;)

I dont get all this gnashing of teeth about missing out on signing a couple of players , we upped some bids got turned down , thats life
We now have a far less bloated squad, have saved a lot of wages , and theres a loan window, the last one ever in 2 games time
Frustration is one thing but declaring its the end for the club is more than a tad melodramatic .
We do have a section of drama queens giving some wonderful auditions for pantomime dames
"oh no , weve been let down by our evil landlord who stolen jamies money "
on no he hasnt,,, oh yes he has

we just plod on , getting behind who evers in the shirt
Im coming 1200 miles to watch us on Saturday
I wont be whingeing
got better things to do , plus its a complete waste of time

It's the "Want it now society" we live in. Mind you we have been very patient haven't we? I just hope crowds hold up next season (we can still be promoted though) but if we aren't in the Championship for the 2017-18 season then I think a high level of upset would be very understandable.

Does the "I want it now" analogy really work with the lenght of time we've been in this division?

I don't know about the want it now society we Blades have been waiting a lifetime for it ;)

Come on we've only been waiting 91 years to win something I can't belive how impatient some of you lot are.

Our board can change what's coming , you're right, btl.
boards only do the books
we are supposed to be a football team
weve spent more than most , in this division, the boards done its job
blaming the board is ridiculous, players are the ones who have come up short
name one of 44 who turned up in all the play off finals that did a job

had we spent only 100k in the past 4 years Id blame the board, but we are among the top 3

Come own we've only been waiting 91 years to win something I can't belive how impatient some of you lot are.

we won promotions
its all we ever will , unless we find a billionaire
portsmouth went into 350m debt to win one fa cup
if we all chip in 100k we might win something

Birmingham City, Blackburn, Wigan. All won cups within the last twenty years. Don't remember them being bought out by Billionaires.

are you kidding
all had massive investment
blackburn even man utd fans said they bought the title
whelan threw hundreds of millions at Wigan
Birmingham got into right debt funding their win
as soon as someone puts 250 million int us Id fancy a cup win

Blackburn won the League cup long after Jack Walkers day. Brirmingham would have been fine if they had not got relegated on the last day of the season of their Leqgue cup their win.

All three of those teams got themselves into a position to win trophys by being in the Premier League. I tell you now no fan of those three or Pompey would change a thing about those wins despite whatever happend since.

The board sanction signings and give a budget out, it's nothing new!

I hope this won't come across as precious or over-sensitive, but last night a member of this forum posted the following comment under one of mine:
Why dont you go on play on the motorway you sycophantic lickspittle
This was in response to my pointing out that, contrary to what some people were claiming, we had in fact signed players in previous transfer windows. Not that controversial really.
Anyway my point is that such comments, which clearly come into the category of personal abuse (and I have made a complaint to the administrators on that basis), can be even more offensive than they seem when people write them. In my case for example, I've been receiving treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder in relation to the death of one of my children. Believe me, in those circumstances you don't want or expect to find someone who claims to be a fellow Blade, whether he was serious or not, telling you to "go play on the motorway".
You may say the person who posted the comment has clearly got his own problems and should just be ignored. But if they can say that kind of thing once, they can say it again, and not just to me. So please can people be aware of this.
I've supported this club for 50 years and enjoy the fact that we can debate our different opinions here, and things can get heated at times, but this kind comment is completely unacceptable.
If you've read this far, thanks and I'll let you get back to commenting on the JTW.

I may not always agree with points that you make but I'm really sorry to hear about your loss and I'm sure you have the kind thoughts of all true Blades with you .........

Pity the fu**ing wasters on the pitch cannot summon up the bottle to compete in this agricultural division and give you something positive to take your mind off events, even for a while.

Soldier on mate !!

Sorry to hear of your loss NB and people shouldn't dish out the personal abuse for having an opinion.

I'm aware I sail class to the wind sometimes so if I ever genuinely offend someone, I hope they'd let me know.

I'm feeling a bit left out here ........ I don't think I've actually felt offended yet by anybody:(

Agreed in principle but then who decides what is abuse or banter or knockabout joking?

I was serious that NB should consider staying away for a bit for his own benefit. If every post on here was forensically checked for the slightest abuse, we'd have some pretty short threads.

ISC
It's not about who decides what counts as banter and what counts as abuse. Its about posters taking some responsibility for at least trying to make that call themselves.
