so we drew a game

coventry got blasted , burton lost to shrewsbury who lost 7=1 at chesterfield a week earlier
walsall blew a lead over blackpool
why do we have total calamity about being one of 4 clubs a point apart for 6th

But in the same way that you can lose and play well short term bad long term good, yesterday we were really poor, and after the Colchester second half our direction of travel doesn't look great atm.

I know we've had poor results all season long but yesterday was the biggest disappointment: pretty much a full strength, first choice team, and we let them dictate the game.

Given how we've repeatedly come up short when attacking maybe the tactics were right, but it was awful to watch - apart from when *they* had the ball and were moving it with confidence, PACE, and imagination.

I think Adkins got it wrong yesterday but given the personnel and how deep we are into the season I can't see the grinding style changing.

I think we can and will make the play-offs, and it might even be our turn but Swindon were there for the taking, and we stood and watched.

Which on current form won't happen.

why not
why does 1 draw suddenly make us the shittiest team weve ever had

has no one ever seen us get promoted before

have they forgotten all the crap we played in those seasons
the defeats the draws

it really is worrying how people forget football has its ups and downs
We once got promoted due to a late keith edwards consolation goal in a 3=1 tonking at bolton and went up by 1 goal

a draw is not losing , well up to this week anyway

If we lost in the Play Off Final it would be an improvement. The last couple of times we've finished in the top six we've lost in the semis.

Adkins clearly inherited a poor squad. But incredibly most of his signings have made it worse. And he has carried on where Clough left off with his negative tactics. His team selections and use of substitutions are bizarre.

Weir, Clough, Adkins and a Board with no ambition whatsoever. No wonder we are facing our longest ever period outside the top 2 divisions.

Our incredibly loyal fans deserve far better.

*straw man argument alert*

No one has said we should have won 5-0 or any of that bollocks, simply that 14th place Swindon aren't a decent side.

Which is why they're 14th.

Yet people seem amazed every time we don't win? Hysteria greets this forum every time we don't win

Am I missing something or do we have great players who should be steamrolling teams like Swindon?

Is that you Nigel? That post is as bonkers as Adkins' post match comments, so could well be.

I'm struggling to see your point. We are crap because most of our players are poor.

Drawing against Swindon in itself is onbiously not a good thing but our players have proven time and time again they don't have bottle to do anything more yet some seem amazed and fly off the handle in utter shock when the same old dross don't win a match

Each to thier own opinions, but the cull of the deadwood, the perma injured, and the useless will be the greatest thing that could happen to the club, it would be the beginning of a great new era, so good for the club team and fans that I don't think it'll happen...

Would you take my point on Collins though??
I take your point that he's been playing Collins, but I am pretty sure he'd rather have been playing Burn, and if he can't get Burn, he will find someone else better than Collins either next week or in the summer.

No one is 'amazed' that we don't win.
Disappointed? Yes. With the performance? Of course.

And it doesn't help pretending Swindon were any better than they are.

The management and owners keep talking about promotion and being positive, and then we spend the entire game defending against a team who are 14th.

*Should* we be beating them? Only if we're serious about being promoted.

buts thats always been the case
when you think youve got it in your hands then

theres a bad result and its all gone

but is it, no not till the last day

Eh? Doesn't follow.

The disappointment for me yesterday was not the result, it was the tactics and performance.

But I think we'll have to get used to it.

Tuesday with King Keith the Miserable on the radio and a miserable grind against a miserable team with (understandably) miserable fans could be pretty miserable.

Wonder if the weather forecast is miserable...

Why did the board spend all that money getting shot of Clough and hiring Adkins, plus his entourage, if they have "no ambition whatsoever"? I am not disputing that Adkins has been disappointing so far, but on what possible basis can you argue that the board has "no ambition"? Do you actually think they would rather be in League 1 than the Championship or Premier League? It's just a silly, silly thing that people keep repeating but if you think about it for two seconds, you must know it's rubbish.

To be honest, we dont really know the answer to that question

I dont think it was McCabes ambition tho' - then again who really does know

You're assuming I'm not pissed off or dissapointed by using this straw man bollocksy comment.

I'm not pretending Swindon are Man City. Yesterday, regardless of league position, I thought they knocked it about okay, were better than us and the stats would prove that (it seems okay to quote stats as you keep referring to their league position as a measure).

We were 7th, now unless I'm missing something in my history of watching football, teams do not always beat others based on league position. Again, using the league position as a measure, 7th drawing with 14th is hardly front page news.

I fully agree the board are not pulling their weight and not saying Adkins is perfect but Swindon finished 4th last season, so they probably also feel like we do and that 14th doesn't represent their potential.

I am not pretending Swindon are better than they are. I'd say you are pretending we are better than we are. The OP was saying chill out. We're all dissapointed and want the best for SUFC which is why we post on here and all get so fucked off.

Roll on next season.

Rob Staton was certainly struggling to describe the riveting action from BDTBL, but at least we got worldwide weather forecasts from exiled Blades via twitter to fill the gaps.

it was the manner of the draw.. it was amateurish and reflects everything you need to know about our shambles of a club in a nutshell.

What's going to happen next season?
We're going to bin a lot of players. Something to look forward to, for me anyway. If we've learned any lessons about the players we keep signing, I'll be ecstatic. The signs aren't great so far, but here's hoping.

All the criticisms of the sales of players and the investments into the team are misplaced, for me. It's our purchasing policy that has been totally fucked up for almost a decade now.

Thing is though the board show less and less ambition every year

If it wasnt for the cup.runs ( which i have been very vociferous about getting in the way of promotion)
And player sales we wouldnt see any signings at all

Next year we dont have any income from those so i wouldnt expect any sort of financial outlay other than free's out and free' s in and any saleable assets offloaded off the books at a cut price

Dwindling crowds and a total lack of expectation much like when i started watching us in the eighties

People been flouncing about this for seasons, and the attendances have still held up.
