Phipps 'tired of being abused win, lose or draw'

Anyone who thinks Jim was involved in transfers is deluded.

Brannigan was given an overall budget for each and every deal. Sadly Clough was heavily involved in setting that budget.

I wouldn't be surprised if next years accounts show a hefty pay off to Malachy for taking the fall at board level.

I have no idea if that's common-place in football, but scary if so. I would imagine only people like Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger would be entrusted with making such decisions. To me, it shows how green to proceedings they were, and how enthralled they were with Clough - and the subsequent tightening up since.

Clough set the budget? Wow, that's what I call leadership at boardroom level.

Heavily involved in setting the budget for transfer deals, ie wages etc. much more realistic than believing "knows nothing about football" Jim did it whatever anyone thought of Clough. But the "facts" change according to the particular argument even though the end result doesn't.

As I've said, some believe Phipps did all the transfer deals. When it suits anyway.

The only trouble with social media is it makes people think that their opinion is worth something, when in actual fact it's not. There should be some sort of block that lets the poorly educated view only.

What do you think the standard should be? GCSE? A level? Degree? Masters? PhD?

Social media is a device for much more than expressing opinions on matters of public interest. It is a means to stay in touch with old friends and family who might live far away. Also, without these “worthless” opinions being aired, people wouldn’t know why people have views they might disagree with. “Educated” people could spend all day patting each other on the back for corroborating and self-validating their views in an unchallenged utopia.

Personally, I would rather have access to a variety of views from a variety of people from a variety of backgrounds. I might not agree with them all. At times I might feel like banging my head against my desk at the stupidity of some of the things I see but by allowing people to engage with people with different levels of knowledge, education and experience, we might actually reach a place where a greater number all well rounded, publicly aware members of society.

It does not surprise me that Jim has had a flounce and launched his rattle that is what he does in my experience. Earlier in the season I think it could have been after Colchester gave us a football lesson at the lane I wrote my thoughts on Jim's facebook page, no swearing, no abuse and nothing personal. I can only assume Jim didn't like or agree with my thoughts on the state of the club as next morning I found I was no longer on his friends list. Jim only seems to like to engage with the people who suck up to him and constantly tell him what a fine job he and the rest of the board are doing keeping this fine club treading water in league one.

Same thing happened to me. I posted a really lengthy response to his status about all working together. How can we all improve, all pulling in the same direction. I’d like to think any criticism was constructive. There were no snide remarks or ranting. But there was some criticism in terms player recruitment and retention. I implored the club not to sell Adams when the offers started coming in and implored him to give Adkins the time he needs to stamp him mark on the club and to not bow to the fans that will inevitably kick off whenever we lose a few games. I talked about the need for long term strategy in terms of player recruitment etc. He responded saying it was all taken on board and then shortly after, I was no longer one of his “friends”.

I just tweeted Jim to say I would be unfollowing him.

The Tweet was along the lines of; thanks for the effort, the experiment hadn't worked, fans should converse with fans, the arguments every Saturday are embarrassing, his focus would be better spent elsewhere, thanks again.

My battery then died. When I plugged it back in (2 mins later) ... I am now blocked from Jim's account.

No great shakes but I wouldn't say anything in my Tweet was offensive or deserved blocking for.

This is disappointing. Jim seems to be very much taking his ball and going home with dummy firmly out of mouth and all toys removed from the pram. He took loads of flack from all sides over the Ched saga. Now, the slightest criticism (constructive or not) is met with blocking. I get the impression he wants to make his social media newsfeeds owlstalkesque.

After the Swindon game Mr Clough alluded to the need to add a centre back and striker - we have that striker in Billy Sharp but still require a centre back despite signing Sammon, Woolford, Hammond

It’s amazing that David Edgar so often ceases to exist when people want to have a go at our recruitment. No wonder he was able to ghost into the box for the winner on Saturday! Clough said a striker and a centre half. If rumours are to be believed that would be Andy Williams and Kyle McFadzean. Collins and JCR would still be out in the cold, Murphy would still have been sold. Brayford would still have been injured. Would we have been better off? Hard to say. I think we can only get a fair assessment of Adkins’ performance when the decks are cleared in the summer and he gets to mould the squad how he wants like Clough did.

Clough was the best thing since sliced bread before he built his own squad. Then he was the devil incarnate. Perhaps it’ll be the opposite way round for Adkins?

I think the danger now is that his account will be full of sycophants (as mentioned elsewhere) and he will completely lose touch with reality of what fan opinion is.

....... he will completely lose touch with reality of what fan opinion is.

Are you suggesting that those people on Twitter, who you don't classify as sycophants, are representative of the real fans and have a monopoly on the reality of fans views?
I think you might just be being a bit disingenuous to the majority of Blades fans who almost certainly don't follow or post on Twitter.

Agreed but that's Jim's great experiment (Twiiter)
