I have Barney on ignore, but I am assuming by the disjointed appearance of this thread it has been Barneyed!

For what it's worth Pompey, it would be a pleasure to have pint with you and talk real football when you are up north.

As for Man Ure fans, I know loads, some are really nice people until they start spouting the utter bollox that justifies their allegiance to a team on the other side of the country. My dad supported them blah blah blah!

You aren't even worth replying to beyond this post. And so I won't be.

Yes I am closing the debate. And yes I am being authoritative. There is nothing more to be discussed.

Based on previous flounce related experience, I can't see the self-imposed silence lasting long......

I'll go against my word and reply to this one.

There we go, forty two minutes....

I had a break, after having one member offer me out if I came to Sheffield.

This place may be challenging at times, but anyone who behaves like that is lower than whaleshit in my book.

I'm back ostensibly to update people on what is happening down here with regard Doyle, Davies and McNulty, but sometimes the need to interject becomes necessary, I feel.

pommpey

Pleased you're back too, Pommps.
Allus look forward to your alliterations and observations - your prose has a uniqueness all of it's own.

As for challenging the B man in a post by post duel - it's well below your standard - I swiftly scroll through any exchanges between other forum members and the flouncer since they add nothing to the debate on here and frankly, if I'm pissing away my time on a (the) football forum, I want to read summat that is either informative or amusing.

Arse-lickers?

All I see is a unified opposition to your contribution to this forum.

I don't see anyone agreeing with you.

Do you not think you have somehow go things a bit wrong?

Yes, arse lickers.

What makes you think I care about anyone agreeing with me?

Would that be a certain "Wallace" who lost his two front teeth at school after tripping over with a swizzle lolly in his mouth? I could be totally wrong of course!

I do - he's right on this one, actually. Rather than admit you made a silly statement, you've gone on your usual diatribe to deflect away from it. Yes, he is generally a bit of a nobhead, but on this occasion he's got you bang to rights.

Yes mate

The very same!

'Bang to rights'

What, is he some sort of prosecution lawyer?

I haven't deflected anything away from the statement. If you go back, run your finger under each word (without moving your mouth, like) you'd see that what Barney came back at me with isn't what was inferred. And his affirmation of 100% certainty was based on the assumtion he knows each and every Man U supporter's status and intent, which is of course, a bit daft. I was basing it on the majority of Man U fans I'd met in the Navy which, given it is a representative sample of man and womenfolk across society from all backgrounds and geography, and their allegience seems to be paper thin and their assumption of superiority very evident, supports my case.

But, y'know, if it scratches his itch to piss people off then he can fill his boots.

Probably! He always took his two front 'uns out when I played football alongside him.

Yep, it is him, Pomps confirmed it. Same age as me, but was in year below at school (I was one of the youngest in our year)

Now now, don't be telling fibs. Let's put this one to bed shall we?

My 100% was said in the following context, this is my exact post (for avoidance of all doubt):

"I'm not going against the fact that our fans were brilliant. They always are, but that wasn't the point. I was rubbishing an idiotic claim that the majority of the Man Utd fans are arrogant and nasty. Unless you've met and got to know the majority of their fan base, that can't be true and is thus unfair and out of order. It's 100% fact, there's no arguing against it I'm afraid."

Which was said after you posted the following:

So, y'know. You're wrong. The majority of Man U supporters are shit. And they know they are.

and this:

They may not be 'nasty' in large parts. But 'arrogant' and add 'deluded' and you are nearer the mark.

pommpey

Now, all who are reading this, put down the "play the poster" cards just for a moment, please. And let's have a look at the above.

Pompey states precisely that the majority of Man U supporters are shit, and goes on to say they are "deluded" and "arrogant" in another post, which came before my post towards the top of this post.

As you can see from my post, no where at all did I say I had or assumed I'd met the majority of the Man Utd fan base. Also, as you can see from my post above, I state that it is 100% fact that he cannot have met and got to know the "majority" of Man Utd fans, and so his assumption in his quoted posts above were invalid and unfair. After that, he went on to say that he got his assumption from Man Utd fans he had met in the Navy! Now forgive me if I've got this wrong but I don't think that's any premise to judge hundreds of millions of people. Instead of admitting his silly presumption, he goes on to back track slightly with the following:

My statement should be read and interpreted as it is set. The majority of Man U fans I encounter (see where I am now?) on my travels (i.e. well outside the sphere you mix in) and over 32 years in the Royal Navy (hey, even with a new dimension to quantify it) are deluded knobheads. Their version of loyalty and allegiance isn't what I'd call good.

That is clearly different to some of the ridiculous presumptions made higher up, and all he needed to have said in the first place. Instead of admitting this though, of course he went on to deflect and play more of the poster.

Thanks for bearing with me on that, it's longer than I would have liked but it gives all the evidence you need.

what he said ...

Nope. Given the examples I stated, based upon the people I had met in the Navy (and at no times is that allegorical of association with all two hunded billion Man U fans which Barney knows and can firmly account are bone fide, bang on, season ticket holders and don't hold Man U as some footballing sercurity blanket, like) my opinion (and that's a winner, innit?) is that Man U fans are shit. Unless he can prove otherwise ... and he can't ... I'll hold that opinion. Strangely, many agree - and not just at this club. One doesn't. I'll not lose much sleep either way.

Barney's wish and want to drive a nail down below the surface whilst damaging the fucking Chippendale is more than evident here. Just give it up, eh? Your point fails to be made each time.

As for 'playing the poster' I'll just add that you play yourself more than you realise, mainly with the utter crap you are desperately trying to vindicate above. I'll not even mention your high-handed arrogance in trying to shut the debate down in your own manner. Oh, okay. I will.

I'm ten years older and met him via football at Frechville CA in NEC and County Senior leagues. Lovely lad and I always felt protective towards him what with some of the shit he had to endure on the football pitches of S York's/ N. Midlands in those days. Still bump into him occasionally and he's still as happy and positive as he always was.

Probably! He always took his two front 'uns out when I played football alongside him.

Great winger in his day. Me and him used to spend most of our school holidays in Herdings Park or being moved from grass strip to grass strip in and amongst the Hemsworth estate blocks. He was, although he'll deny it, once an Arsenal fan!

You are 100% bang on for once; it's longer than anyone else would like either.

This thread started out about the corporate 'experience' at OT and once again you've managed to derail that and turn it into some kind of politically-correct-don't-generalise turgid borefest.

Your 'justification' above is just another chance for you to repost bits from the tripe you've already posted. You really do like the sound of your own 'voice' don't you?

I suppose your work on here is done but there plenty of other active threads for you to get stuck into and ruin......

You really are a prize wanker (and yes that is personal abuse).

He'd moved inside by the time he'd got to me in about '85, bit like a poor man's Paul Pogba, got up and down pitch really well.

Looking at this thread explains the term of "having a bit of a Barney" when describing a childish argument with someone. Every thread Barney posts in soon loses sight of what it is about and decends into playground stuff of he said this and he said that and complaints of people picking on him. You know when you have been Barney'd :tumbleweed: :tumbleweed:
