The Luckiest Win I Can Remember

What is it that you want exactly, from this group of players? Without Baxter and (arguably) Wallace we lack quality on the ball; without JCR and Adams we lack pace.

What does that leave us? Work, commitment and organisation at best, which is what we got today. We worked hard and for once lady luck chose to smile on us. That gives me something to smile about, it's a shame you can't be happy with the win, even in some small way.

Until someone waves a magic wand or produces a complete overhaul in January then I am afraid we are stuck with what we have. No point constantly slating them, may as well get behind them because they really need it.

The poor little darlings. How I feel for them.

Yeah, dunno how people think Hammond played well. Should have had at least two or three yellows on top of the one he got, should have conceded a penalty, he was summarised when under minor pressure by the penalty arc he put it out for a corner. No attempt to play it out, not even out for a throw. Still, with the cup jackpot at least when we sign him permanently its not really cost us anything.

That comment says it all really. You clearly have no interest in getting behind the team. We all pay our money and are entitled to our opinion but quite honestly when someone cannot take any pleasure from a much needed win, deserved or not , then I fail to see why they bother. If that's the return you get for your money then I feel a bit sorry for you.
Seriously, if you want quality football every single week then you may need to find another club, or at least come back if we ever get promoted.

Hammond old manned it today and for one I was pleased to see it , if you think he should have had three bookings on top of the unfortunate one he got ,go and watch tiddly winks . Saying that it might be a bit rough for you .
Football used to be a contact sport you know

I'm delighted with that today. We are normally the ones getting beaten unluckily, or getting kicked off the pitch.

We were the ones that got lucky and did the kicking, and I for one am so happy that we have finally been the team to win that way. 2 clean sheets.

Absolutely ridiculous Sitwell. Biased because of the commentators. seriously?

The ref made some iffy decisions both ways but the major ones went against Coventry

J-Mac should have got a red. It was so late, high and with zero control. He checked with the player first and I think the fact he wasn't seriously injured which swayed him towards a yellow (I'm not sure where that is in the handbook)

Hammond should have been punished for holding in the box and they should have had a penalty. He deserved 3 or 4 more bookings with hacks, shirt pulls and late challenges.
They should have had a goal or at least a penalty. It was hard to tell but about 80% sure over the line.

Whoever defended Woolford or Sammon needs a new TV set

As a performance it was committed, strong and we actually harried. We also played as a unit (which is a first this season). We restricted them to creating little but we created nothing and scored due to a howler and a big slice of luck. They were the better team though and were unlucky.

My worry is that these tactics are fairly effective against smaller and teams with a lot of skill but there aren't many of those in league 1.
Your comments would suggest you watched it on he TV as you appeared to have forgotten to mention the pulling and man handling by the Coventry players that went unpunished. We won. Get over it

Funny how people see things differently. I thought he made a brilliant decision to kick it out. He was surrounded by a scrum of players. His choices were to boot it into them not knowing where it would go or play it through the only gap (which was backwards). Sensible play for me and the correct decision (in the same way one of their players headed it over his own bar in the first half).

There was pulling and manhandling by both sides (and jumping into Sharp when he came on) but we were far more obvious about it on a few occasions.

There really shouldn't be much debate here.

We are an awful side.

Coventry were better than us today.

Mceveley should have been sent off.

Hammond should have been sent off.

We had one 'shot' on target, where the ball hit Sharp, in 90mins at home.

We have no pace.

We play boring football.

We can't keep possession, we always get out passed in midfield.

Collins is woeful.

There's very little in there to disagree with IMO. Much needs to change before we can compete with the top sides. this truly is papering over the cracks as on another day, Coventry would have beaten us comfortably.
But today wasn't 'any other day' it was 13-12-15 and we won 1-0 ,look at the paper in the morning.

Came away feeling pleased (if not delighted) with 3 points. Then I saw the Sky highlights, omg. Lucky to have 11 on the pitch and not to have lost, Coventry were not great but one things for sure they were a tad unfortunate. Long was brilliant today 9/10

He made 2 saves, (3 if you count the one that went in) and immediately put us back under pressure with his kicking.

A first touch indicates touching the ball ,usually the touch previous to any others
Step overs arent touches ?
I didn't mention first touch ,I mentioned step overs . All bloody 4 of them

Watching united today it's clearly shows we lack quality all over the field sorry it's OK with player who started to show some fighting spirit but we lack quality big clear out for in the January window and over the summer?

Just read back the thread numbnuts
Your thread . I mentioned Montgomeryesque not first touch as step overs don't count as a touch .numb nuts do you get that in cold weather ,or when you get kicked in the ballacks

Not the point at all is it?

If this was a cup game, then fantastic, who cares, it's all about that one game on that one day. It isn't the cup though, this is the league in which the cumulation of points spans over 46 matches. We are a poor side, and the point is that we won but will not be successful over the season.

Even your delusional mind can see the point being made. We won, yes. However, my god we are shit, there's no taking away from that.

At the end of the day the ref was a panzy, and for once we had the brains to exploit it by taking the role of the aggressor rather than that of the victim, rolling around on the floor every 2 minutes.

Something we should do much more often in my opinion, although we won't get away with half as much in most games.

What a patronising load of rubbish. I've been a Blade for 30 years for the record and I don't get anything for my money because I dont give them my money anymore. The reason for that is because I got nothing for my money when I was giving it to them.

As a life long sufferer of watching them I am indeed entitled an opinion and I want a reason to reinvest in them. At the moment I don't have a single one reason. The inference that it's up to the supporters to lift their confidence levels and help them perform when they earn disgusting salaries is frankly laughable.

Take your face for a shit.

Winning ugly is better than losing ugly. Yes we lucked out but have been on the opposite end of similar muggings over the years. 3 points earned, onto the next game.

What an unpleasant specimen you are. Carry on slashing and getting angry pal, I honestly couldn't give a f**k.

Lucky we might have been but we gave away fuck all once we went in front. That's how you close out a win (piss-taking stepovers at the end an optional bonus).
