The Luckiest Win I Can Remember

Have you seen anything that shows this because no one else has ?

In the absence of goal line technology or 4 white coated scientists with degrees in ball crossing lines, you rely on your eyes and your judgement. So everyone should stop the nit-picky childish nonsense - if it had been the other way round no one would be arguing that the ball WASN'T over the line, absolutely no one. Everyone would be feeling hard done to and criticising the referee. I really hate the way some fans see things in completely the opposite way when it's their team. As has been mentioned already, as wizardry says, even Long hinted he knew it was over.

Are you waiting for George Long to turn up and tell you it was in too or will you also demand he shows you proof?
FFS you are stooping to low levels now to defend your comments . Just admit that without goal line technology you have no way of knowing it was in (and Long can't know for certain either as the ball was in mid air)

Don't worry. It's the Blades fans' way to make things up sometimes to try and prove a point

He made 2 saves, (3 if you count the one that went in) and immediately put us back under pressure with his kicking.

Without wanting to seem contrary... his kicks weren't rubbish, the utter failure of Sammon to win more than one header made the end of the kick rubbish.

Brilliant, the man closest in the entire world to the ball also doesn't know because Sky television hasn't shown you a pretty graphic that says 'goal' on it.

It's ok to take the Blades blinkers off every now and then.

And the kicks that went directly to their defenders?

To blame Sammon seems a bit harsh. He wasn't even on the pitch for some of them!

The point is some fans are using this phantom goal as an example of how lucky we were today instead of looking at the whole game. Both teams were poor but we had a game plan and it worked. Some on this forum seem to be upset that we have won today which I don't quite understand.

LOL. You really are a fool aren't you. Keep up with the anti - Blades propaganda as I am sure Barney and his pals will love it

So not only can you not see that they scored, you also can't see that we were lucky?

What I am saying is that most (not all, granted) of the kicks went in the right direction, but we failed on many occasion to compete for them. And I have to say, I thought Sammon was very poor indeed today.

Anti Blades propaganda because my eyes aren't painted on and I can look at a game without blinkers.

Deary, Deary me.

You'll get no argument from me on Sammon.
I just disagree about Long's kicking.

Rubbish again - I'd say that no one could tell either way for certain therefore no goal.

You genuinely don't think we got a bit lucky today?

With our one proper shot on target which deflected off sharp's head?

It's doesn't make you a bigger blade to have such tunnel vision.
I don't think Coventry created that much.In the last 15 minutes (including injury time) they didn't have a sniff at our goal and we managed out time very well.
Apart from the save from Long in the 2nd half we defended well and played like an away team at home. We weren't great by any stretch of the imagination but after the garbage we have seen recently it was a step in the right direction especially as we have now only conceded one goal in three games

I personally thought that was one of the best defensive performances we've done in a long time against a decent side.

I don't particularly disagree with you, it was great to win and be a bit nasty at the same time, however, it was undeniably a bit lucky today.

Long saved from a 1-on-1 in the first half, made the save in the second half and then also 'saved' a certain goal 'on the line' too. So three clear cut chances.

Add to that the challenge could have easily been a red card and I'm told (although I've not seen replays of this) that they should have had a penalty before Long's 'save'.

And we had the ball deflect off Sharp to score. And that's all we created.

So let's be delighted with the win, but let's not be silly and pretend luck didn't play a part.

3 points is 3 points and you can't fault the workrate or organisation but blimey.

J-Mac and Hammond should have been off (Hammond should have had about 5 bookings!). They should have had a goal and penalty.

Special shout out to Neil Collins, the worst footballer on the pitch. At least Flynn made sure we didn't just have one shoulder on goal.

I'll say this about Coventry, for all their skill and pace they're a small team who look very uncertain defending corners.

But hey ho, I hope the ref is getting a special Christmas bonus from Kev.

The Blades were very lucky indeed, they are no better under Adkins than Clough, in fact I would say worse, it took 48 minutes for our first shot on goal, and that missed by a mile, we only had 2 shots in total, there was no attacking flair what so ever. Long saved us today if Coventry had took their chances it would of been a different game, but that's football in a nutshell " Do not take your changes you will pay for it " and that's what Coventry did. I also think we all forget that we watch football in the third tier and it is of a low standard, but that should not take away attacking flair, or wing play we did not even send in any crosses, on a final note send back Sammon to Derby he is so poor, all he does is back into defenders, I had to laugh when the whole of the stadium jumped out of their seats and cheered so loud when he actually headed the ball. Well done Blades 3 points and we are getting closer to the play offs.
